Curious Expedition 2

I’ve really enjoyed this sequel. I see a lot of criticism about bugs, art direction, and combat. Here’s my take on it:

Bugs:

Yeah it’s buggy, but it’s to be expected right now since it’s in early access. I was able to play the game all the way through. Some tips on impassable bugs I encountered: DON’T RUN OUT OF SANITY. When you do, you’ll get a tutorial popup telling you to rest/eat consumables, but you won’t be able to exit the screen. Instant game over and restart. Try and be diligent and stock up on lots of consumables so you never have to deal with that.

I really enjoyed this game. A lot has been changed and improved from the first game. It is a really fun challenge. I completed four complete campaigns and got all of the achievements in 145 hours of playtime. The value for the price is fantastic.

You begin by choosing a leader. As you progress in the game, additional leaders become available that you can use in future playthroughs. I changed my mind on my favorite leader a couple of times, so there are definitely options for everyone with vastly different strengths. The leader makes a big difference in the best way to approach specific expeditions, but it isn’t limiting options - you can still generally play how you choose with whichever leader you pick.

Vesper, the name of the heroine

A combat system combining role-playing, card games and strategy games.

  • Role playing game

Start with the heroine Vesper and win new allied units with unique abilities. Level up your characters, unlock new skills (active and passive abilities), and improve them …

Objectives to be fulfilled, gain experience … Results at the end of the fight!

  • Card Game

There are 3 types of cards

Unit Cards - Summon your allies into battle by exchanging Ether Crystals.

Action cards - the abilities specific to your heroes.

Arcane Cards - Collectible cards that will give you various bonuses!

  • Strategy game

Unleash your ULTIMA

Plan your own strategic moves to face your enemies, using the range of diverse combat units available. Keep moving to avoid certain enemy attacks. The layout of your units is important. For example, short-range physical attacks will have more effect on the front line. But beware, this rule can also be used by your enemies.

Comics/game: An original story based on a new series of comics

The entire comic will be readable in the game, not in the usual comic format but in a version suitable for reading on screen! These cut-scenes will punctuate the series of completed missions.

An episodic game

The game and the comic book tell the same story: Episode 1 in the game is the same story as Volume 1 of the comic book. As each future episode is released, you can resume your game from where you last saved to continue the adventure with the content that you have already won!

Explore the universe of Etheria

As the story progresses, you will unlock areas on the world map. Each location will offer a number of missions to complete in different difficulty modes.

Physical DPS, capable of melee attacks (sword and spear) and precise aiming range (dagger and wheelblade). Her abilities are all of the darkness element.

Full Tank, his abilities can grab the attention of enemies and defend your characters.

More versatile, both tank and physical DPS, Lubikai is a leader, able to call on his fellow sorajis for reinforcement.

& More to come…

This episode will have 8-10 playable characters. In addition to the heroes, you can also have basic units to help you in combat.

Face a multitude of enemies, exploit their weaknesses and adapt your tactics to beat them all!

Some of them may be called in as reinforcements in combat (under certain conditions) but will not be controllable.

A floating world that surrounds the crystal tree

“All is one”. Three words to create a universe.

If all is one, then you are not external to the universe; you are the universe.

From this belief was born the world of Etheria; the crystal world tree that breathes soul into matter.

In a body on loan for a limited time, life seeks itself and raises its consciousness by going beyond its limits.

When the moment of death comes, the world is not the same as it was before. Just like the soul that returns to Etheria is not the same. Infinite, eternal, in perpetual change. Without change, there would be no life.

Soul, conscience, spirit … Whatever name you give it, don’t get lost. Charged with its experiences, it transforms the universe.

The part of the world you’ll explore in episode 1

All souls return where they came from: ETHERIA, the crystal tree.

The siege of Valestiel

Vesper, nicknamed “Amazon of the Knights of Nyx”, is a courageous and determined young woman, able to wield ethereal magic. She provides services to Prince Crimson Nyx. They fight together for the kingdom of Sylvaestris, in a war that has lasted for several years against the Soraji nomads.

Vesper & Crimson

But the dark forces from Vesper attract the attention of Ekklesia. This almighty religious institution will call upon Redgrave, a ruthless inquisitor of the Aurora Crux …

WARSAW

WARSAW

Some words to describe this game in the first place: dark, difficult, sad, beautiful and mind-blowing.

-As a history fan myself, I love this game; it contains beautiful artworks and a sad background, characters and encounters' artworks are worth collecting. You can see those faded historical moment vividly, while not as grand as those moments of Normandy, Pacific or Stalingrad, it gives people that feeling.

-As for the gameplay, not only the combat is difficult, player also has to manage the resources and ammunition they’ve got (yes, there’s an independent “supply” consumable item for purchasing stuff); unlike other games, this one is based on a true history event, with the ending of the story set, a heavy-hearted player must try to help those men and women to survive longer before they meet their ultimate destiny of doom. For me, it is like a mixture of darkest dungeon, this war of mine and valiant heart.

(Hopefully) FINAL UPDATE:

One month ago I said that I would keep my WARSAW review negative until more changes for the better were made to the game. I saw changes being made, MANY changes, so here I am again. So, with that being said, let’s (again) get to the bulk of it now (this time trying to not let emotions get too in the way of things like in my original review).

WARSAW had a VERY rocky launch but now it has been polished and updated so much that it can barely be compared to the way that it launched in. Game became better in basically every department, along with getting more content too.

MARVEL Puzzle Quest

MARVEL Puzzle Quest

If you like Match 3 games, you will adore this one! Marvel Puzzle Quest really is the best I have ever played. If you are not into Match 3, I think you should still give this one a try, as it might just change your mind.

While the micro-transactions do make for a pay-to-win situation, you can still get there through ordinary grinding.

Highly recommended.

I’ve enjoyed this game and didn’t mind making in game purchases early on.

I had the account wiped after a patch once. I contacted customer service about it and they fixed it in 1 day.

It always runs smoothly on my PC.

I guess it is slow at first but after 2 years, I’ve got a great roster and many of my heros are maxxed so I can play as long as I want and don’t ever see the need to make another in game purchase.

Rings of Hell

Rings of Hell

This game is an odd intersection of a lot of my interests so of course I like it but you might too.

From the store description it looks like a similar style of a bigger game is in the works and I’d definitely be interested especially if there is gonna be more Red & Blue.

I would recommend this game easily especially since it’s free, but here’s some feedback for the devs,

-please let us adjust text speed & skip cutscenes. It wasn’t a huge deal in a short game but in a longer one this would definitely be annoying.

LOVE AND HATE.

that’s how i feel about this game

LOVE

for the simple fact that I love anime-style games that have that old Japanese vibe and that music that is so relaxing

designs so rich that they captivate a lot

HATE

I’m not that good at thinking about the attacks I need to be able to finish off the demons, it cost me a lot to know that

I can also say that at first it was difficult for me to understand why he died but then I saw that I was missing an object that is obtained at the beginning of the game

Fate of WINDSHIFT is a game full of great surprises. Surprises such as the artistic design of its characters that are very well achieved and with a very beautiful level of detail in their costumes and physical characteristics that can be better appreciated during the dialogues. It is a turn-based J-RPG that has a certain degree of initial difficulty if you compare it with other games of the genre and that is experienced by the player during the first fight that performs its function adequately as a tutorial, but with some peculiarities such as the skills of each character that transform the battle system into a good combination. As the game’s story unfolds, and the development of the characters progresses, you can appreciate the interactions between them and how this element enriches the experience and the story itself.

It was all going so well.

One day the world is experiencing a golden age of technology, the next it’s forcibly merged with an alternate dimension. It happens.

Now there’s a new reality, a world between worlds: The Bast.

RFM is a roguelite tactics game where you can play, pause and plan. You are Morgan, dimension-diving merc, delving deeper and deeper into The Bast at the behest of the factions looking to exploit this new reality.

But you’re going to need help to survive in the depths. Help, and a whole lot of skill.

RFM combines the tactics of grid-based strategy with the thrills of an action game. Each level plays out in realtime, but you can pause to assess the battlefield, prep your attacks and plan your next move. Use mods and equipment to enhance your preferred style of play and overcome your foes.

Inspired by the Golden Age of Space and seventies retro-futurism, RFM’s cel-shaded art and unique atmosphere, set to an irresistibly catchy soundtrack, means diving into the unknown has never felt so stylish.

You’re not alone on your journey into The Bast. As a mercenary you’ll deal with close associates and vying factions: everyone wants a piece of this new reality. But going deeper means getting better, and you’ll have to create unlikely alliances to procure the equipment you need to dive deeper.

  • Every dive is different: change your strategies on the fly to counter a dimension in flux.

  • A hyper-stylish retro-future set to a catchy original soundtrack

Incredibly addictive game! Genius mixture of different activities, I love it! I wish the English was better, so that the story was more coherent and also some events are mixed up (e.g. being an old man and then suddenly getting married and the image is of a young man), but this is still an excellent purchase! Love it!

This game is like a Princess Maker you manage the life of someone until the retirement.

It also contain a new game +

The card combat mechanics are based mostly on combo card + few extra “neutral” card if you want to win.

Notice each new character has different combo settings.

Quite enjoyable for the price.

Actual 30/10/2020 : Use chinese as regional setting for microsoft due to a grivious combat bug + UI bug “in personality screen” to bypass the bug waiting for a patch.
