The Escapists 2

The Escapists 2

The Escapists 2 is an interesting case for me. At first I had really high expectations for the game and then they sorta went down after I had played the Android verson of The Escapists and Escapists Walking Dead. Those games made the character a bit too slippery with moving and I have other little dislikes about them too. Team 17 had made the engine like it was on the PC Version so I could get it easier.

This took me a bit to get used to the new systems but once I did, I was fine. Just get used to the new controls.

Alright, Escapist Escapist Escapist… The first game was amazing i loved it personally with all the prisons and the DLC maps man it was so good. The second game easily is better for reasons which i will be explaning. Firstly i will be explaining the big Pros for the game then the cons. So the Pros, One of the big things about Escapist 2 is that it has a ‘‘Multiplayer’’ Mode to it what basically changes the whole game. Having another player makes it so you have a completley diffrent escape with diffrent ways to escape each time. There are individual Items for the escapes and Cutscenes even what are really cool and in some cases hilarious. Some other things they have changed in the game are the gameplay aspects. The HUD Parts of the day, Fighting, AI interactions and a whole bunch more. The way they have changed all these are Such a Huge diffrence its crazy. I personally also love the tick system for the parts of day which makes it very neat. Also the GTA like Heat level wat is very fancy. Overall these are the main reasons i love this game. The levels, diffrent gameplay aspects and multiplayer.

Town of Salem

Town of Salem

Wasted too much time on this game. Overtime the Meta has changed and now every game has town members that mass-protect the day 1 revealed Jailor. They’ve removed Neutral Killing from the ranked game mode so town has an even better edge. Too unbalanced for my liking and evils leave far too often. So often that it ruins the game mode. I don’t blame the leavers because playing as an evil these days is a joke.

This game has gone downhill so fast. That’s what happens when you break a multiplayer game in half with paid DLC. Then have a data breach and lose the personal information of all your users. I gave it another try recently and now I’m suspended for “gamethrowing” as a serial killer. A character that is on his own team. Amazing work. This game is dead, expect a 10 minute wait to find a regular game and ranked to never happen.

What makes someone keep playing a game for 10 years?

7-12 players per team are on the field playing a FPS, 2 players hop in the command chair and play an RTS, and chaotic toxicity of an aliens vs marines FPS game ensues. Players have to build and hold resource towers, which accrues team resources for their commander to spend on upgrades and tactical structures, and personal resources for they themselves to purchase upgrades with. Games are played on highly detailed maps that take a minimum 1000 hours to develop, with graphics that have aged well, with plenty of nooks and crannies to hide things in. This game has an ELO system implemented to ensure team balance, typically teams average out between 300 and 3000 ELO and teams are balanced within 100 ELO of each other. The game plays very different depending on the average ELO on each team, a 1000 ELO game is competely different than a 3000 ELO game. If teams are balanced 300 ELO off, one team has a 90% chance of winning. Game balance is most impacted by late joiners to a game or people with high skill that leave can cause unbalanced games.

Full of dick heads telling you how to play when they don’t even know how to play, this game was amazing at release but was killed by the community taking the fun out of it with inting and giving up after a few things go wrong even on new player servers, don’t play it is as toxic as League.

Worms Ultimate Mayhem

Worms Ultimate Mayhem

After hundreds of hours and over 10 years, I figured it’s about time I sit down and write a review for this masterpiece in gaming history. This gem holds a very special place in my heart, and it will forever be one of my all-time favorite games. To me, this is Team17’s magnum opus. It doesn’t get any better than this. It is the reason I first began to engage with the Steam community years ago when I created the Worms Ultimate Mayhem Militia with my brother, and it’s the reason I have hundreds of friends on Steam today. To put it quite simply, Worms Ultimate Mayhem isn’t just a game, it’s one of my passions. I know the new Rumble has beautiful graphics and a much larger playerbase, and the 2D games like Armageddon are beloved and often regarded as best, but in my humble opinion this is the greatest Worms game there is.

Worms 3D + Worms 4 Mayhem together, with remastered graphics? Awesome!

All is good, good except the lack of effort put into it.

I almost feel like they were doing something good but quit half-way because deadlines or something, they didn’t even do much follow up after release besides patching game-breaking bugs that didn’t allow people to play at all. If I’m recalling correctly the beta correctly, they were trying to put the teleporter utility back in, but ended up not for who knows what reason (although I never got to play it at that time personally due to game launching bugs, so I watched someone else also in the beta who could).

Worms Revolution

Worms Revolution

Worms Physics Revolution

At its core, Worms Revolution is another Worm clone with modern graphics.

That said, WR does bring its own brand new elements to the game that set it, if not above, equal with most of its predecessors.

The core game is still the same great combo of;

🔸 Turn based team warfare,

🔹 Tons of weapons,

🔸 Dozens of tools,

🔹 Endless random maps,

🔸 It’s own quirky worm comedy,

🔹 Single player champing,

🔸 Puzzle / Challenges,

What Worms Revolution adds;

If you don’t know Worms, you have missed something in life. There is nothing in this world comparable to the sweet brutality of the warfare of these tiny little jerks. They put sticks of dynamite on each others' heads, throw explosive bananas, holy grenades and now even water bombs, let sheep and skunks explode, shoot with guns and water pistols, launch air-strikes and smash each other through the air with a good old smack on the head, executed with a baseball bat.

I used to play Worms 2 as a 12-years-old, and more than two decades later, I still love this game series. The combination of a totally original gameplay, outstanding humour and yet being a serious strategy game make it a winner.

SpyParty

SpyParty

Okay, so I never ever never write game reviews on steam. Until now, because SpyParty is such a great game, and I want to maybe get some people who treat the game like a party game to view it from a different angle, and to briefly sum up what the game is, and what it isn’t.

The gameplay/content:

The spy is hiding in the party, while the sniper tries to discern them from the innocent partygoers. So far, so easy; especially since when booting up the game for the first time, you will be presented with a severely simplified experience, as to not overwhelm a new player. Then new missions for the spy to complete, as well as fresh venues to play on will be unlocked after a certain number of wins, to gradually deepen the experience.

Real player with 1278.3 hrs in game

So I never really played video games until I found SpyParty. And what a challenge. At first glance, its EZPZ. You’ll jump into a mode where you learn 4 missions and play other people with just about the same number of games and play. You’ll play until you kind of figure out what you’re playing and then your world expands; A LOT. You get access to 4 other missions and the sniper has to look for more.

The more you play, the more you realize you need to be like the AI to succeed. Yes, you need to do missions but it takes SOOO much skill to know how to be an AI and not get shot by the top players of this game. I have 9000 games played and it still doesn’t cease to teach me new things about the game each time I die.

Worms W.M.D

Worms W.M.D

I recommend this game, as it is lots of fun, but at the same time there are reasons I would not recommend it. Let me explain.

As a single player it offers a variety of missions and challenges, which can keep you occupied for a while. But competing against A.I. gets boring quickly, because of how predictable (and bad) your computer opponents are, and then you really want to play against other humans. If you’re in a household with other family members or have real life friends to play with, it should be ok. However, if you’re a single guy living alone, like me, you have to venture into the online world to find people to play with.

Over a 100 hours on record and I would also argue I have hosted the most games of anyone currently still playing the game with 60% winrate. I am here to inform you of the major misopportunity this title is and how the total package on offer here is probably not worth the commitment you will need to make to get the most out of it.

First off heres what I love about the game

Don’t Bite Me Bro! +

Don’t Bite Me Bro! +

This is a wonderful game at an amazing value.

When I originally bought this, I wasn’t expecting a whole lot. I’m a sucker for voxel-styled games, though, so I bought it.

I have to say, it’s definitely worth the money. Essentially, you’ve gotta build your own base and set out to help other people in danger. The game rewards you for your efforts by unlocking those you rescue as playable survivors, all with their own unique abilities no less. For example, there is a survivor who uses a ranged weapon as their basic attack, making it easy to conserve ammunition (whereas the other survivors in this game are unable to do so.)

Real player with 6.2 hrs in game

So… yeah. A dollar is cheap, and the game has a good concept.

This game has potential, with a beautiful low-poly/voxel style, and engaging basebuilding, horde-survival gameplay. All for a buck and a bit, it’s probably worth it.

Probably, you say?

On the other hand, it’s riddled with bugs, one of the most annoying being the inability to interact with you base’s main building (e.x. Stockiling resources, upgrading you base’s capabilities, changing survivors). The characters you encounter along the way are superficial, and when assigned to tower-duty, couldn’t hit a zombie if their lives depended on it (in my 4 hours of gameplay not one of their shots has hit an approaching enemy). Along with all this, the actual building part of the game is difficult and ambiguous.

Worms Clan Wars

Worms Clan Wars

[UPDATED]

Clan Wars is as same as Revolution, but it’s better version - Steam Workshop, better customisation, more weapons, amusing Story mode, Worm Ops, Clan Wars mode… But this is not a game without its drawbacks. First one, the online seems is empty of lobbys. Second, A.I. is a laughter in the courtroom (I mean - they’re snipers or “moles”) There are only five worlds (even I was hoping about the worlds from Revolution), but this doesn’t change fact this game is medicore. Playing with friends (both online and locally) should be good, but playing solo after hour can just get bored. Overall, this is a game that makes me pleasure.

Real player with 329.5 hrs in game

This game is basically a standalone expansion to Revolution. It’s a much better game overall, and the workshop support is very cool, but you can’t help but feel like a lot of this should have been in Revolution to begin with.

The problem with the game though, is that even though it’s better than both Revolution and Reloaded, it’s still a shadow of a game compared to Armageddon. Sure, it has the same number of weapons and even lets you use the Armageddon HUD for your weapons, but that’s really the only areas where it matches that old classic, and even then it replaces fun weapons from that game (such as the bow) with newer weapons that, honestly, just aren’t as fun.
