Diggles: The Myth of Fenris

Diggles: The Myth of Fenris

Very surprised Diggles/Wiggles has appeared on Steam, but VERY happy it did!

This is an unique game; nothing really compares to it then (20 years ago), and since then no game has been published (to my knowledge) that comes even close to it. So i almost immediatly bought it (again).

Didnt play Wiggles for years as the original sadly wasnt compatible with ‘newer’ Windows-version. (Could play the official Demo a bit longer though.)

Although graphics is a bit outdated and gameplay is quite slow, the game concept is so good, it was and still is the best game i ever played.

WTF!?! Who’s feet do I have to kiss for finally bringing this game to Steam!! If you ever played and enjoyed, Oxygen not Included, and the new early access game, Hammerington, then you will like this game as well. I even purchased those aforementioned games in the hopes to fill the hole this game left in me decades ago. While a bit dated on graphics (released in 2002), the game still has its same charm and is still very playable. By the end of the game, your dwarves will be riding around on hover boards, and brandishing light sabers. How can you go wrong with that? Thank you

Dig to the Stars

Dig to the Stars

You can complete the game, i.e. get to the end of the story but there is a broken achievement - to bypass radiation levels without the Robot Radiation upgrade

! basically blindly obliterate the block (see Strafing Cubes below).

Dig to the Stars is … a thing that exists. The game is very rough around the edges, sometimes annoyingly so, you’d think it is a first game. The game offers barely any story and almost no explanation on how anything works which applies to controls as well as upgrades. Controls would feel almost intuitive if the game was a mobile game.

I was half enjoying cutting rocks up with a laser, then my progress was halted by an insurmountable, game-breaking design flaw.

There is no way to upgrade your robot to be able to mine radiated caverns without GOING BELOW THOSE CAVERNS.

So yeah, don’t buy this.

Also, the dev changed names to distance themselves from their other games but left the bundle of those games on their store? I don’t get it either.

Earth Elements

The game is great, definitely worth the buy. I love the game-play, and the overall freedom that the game offers without overwhelming me. There is a lot of in-game content and new things I can explore with each time playing, so it seems like ill never get bored of it. I am super excited to see where the game goes as it continues development.

Mine Trap Reborn

Mine Trap Reborn

Mine Trap Reborn takes place in an old abandoned mine. As the miner, you must clear each level and progress- but be sure to watch out for the blobs! Play through 130 levels, 30 in classic mode and 100 in arcade mode. Classic mode sticks close to the game’s namesake; Minetrap, a game which existed in the 90’s (it does not exist anymore). Arcade mode is the new, flashy version, complete with earthquakes, lava, dark levels, wind, coins, overly dramatic music, alternative objectives, crumbling levels, bosses, and more! While in theory the game is simple, it is quite easy to end up in a bad position and die- there are death messages designed to enhance the user experience and provide encouragement for level progression. There is also word of a hidden minigame, maybe you should hang out on the main menu…

How-To

It is recommended one plays Classic mode before attempting Arcade mode. Arcade mode is much more difficult.

Kill blobs by digging traps, getting them to fall into traps, and then filling the traps in. Different blobs must fall different distances to be killed, or you can auto-kill them by dropping blobs on other blobs!

Generally speaking, the blobs must fall the following number of “levels”.

Green, 1

Light Blue, 2

Red, 3

Yellow, 1

Light Purple, 2

Dark Purple, 3

Objectives Include:

Clear all enemies, collect coins, mine amounts of gold, FFA, and survive a certain amount of time.

Featuring:

The world’s most interesting main menu (can’t really claim this, but it is rather mesmerizing)

Steam Achievements

Steam Leaderboards

Steam Stats

Large amounts of splats

Large amounts of sass, in the form of over 125 different motivational messages

Shaders

Gameplay modifiers

Overly-dramatic awesome music (looking at you, levels 49, 50, 99 and 100!)

Controls:

Keyboard and mouse is best, but can support most controllers

Movement: WASD

Dig: J

Fill: K

Throw dynamite (only works on dark levels): space

Pause/Unpause: Escape

Classic Controls (can be found in options) set the game to use the old control scheme from the now non-existant game.

Movement: Arrow Keys

Dig: D

Fill: F

Throw dynamite: space

Pause/Unpause: Escape

Boulder Dash Deluxe

Boulder Dash Deluxe

A classic game updated for the future.

However, it looks very scary. Playing it, I could say that as a child I would have played this a lot, but as a grownup it’s not something that I would recommend. It’s past it’s prime and not updated to compare to other games today.

Delve Deeper

Delve Deeper

Delve Deeper is a game which on the surface seems cute and innocent. However, below the exterior is a game which is deceptively difficult and unendingly fun.

Is the ultimate goal is to make more money for your king than the other team. You will need to excavate tunnels in order to get at the wealth which is hidden from view. Where will you dig your tunnels, and what strategy will you use when placing them in order to find the greatest amount of wealth?

There are all manner of nasty things down there which are just waiting to be released so that they can attack your Miners. Usually they guard large amounts of wealth or the entryways two areas which you need in order to be able to, of course, delve deeper which is where the best of the loot is to be found. The questions here are, do you risk the attack, and if you do, how many of your Miners will you commit to the battle? Your Miners can’t be killed, but they can get beat up so badly that they will miss the next turn. That can end up in the cycle where your miner is being killed every turn and therefore cannot mine or escape on tell a group of his compatriots com to his rescue and defeat the monster. In this instance your Miners are spending their time rescuing, and not mining, whilst your competitor is merrily running up the score in his favour.

Delve Deeper is a game where you are a team of dwarves and square off against another team of dwarven diggers racing for loot for glory with the dwarf king.

A couple other reviewers have called it a “Board game” and that’s a good way to look at it. It’s not Monopoly, or Ticket to Ride, but it is a board game in many ways. The problem is… it’s not a very good one.

Much of the game is the dwarves running to different veins to dig up gold and gems. Then run those gems back to the start point to “Score” them. There’s monsters that attack, and there’s three types of Dwarves, a fighter With good inventory, great attack, and slow speed, a Miner with great inventory, good speed, and average fighting, and a Scout with great speed, weak fighting, and weak inventory.
