Fury of Dracula: Digital Edition

Fury of Dracula: Digital Edition

I hadn’t played this game since the 1st edition that came out in the 80s. Back then three Hunters chased a nearly-impotent Dracula around the map, eventually slaying him. Nearly every time, anyway. Dracula had hidden movement behind a screen, and left some rumors in his wake, but the damnable hunter cards would give him away at horrible times, and if you encountered him he would get caught during the day more than half the time (you rolled a die, but the hunters had more cards) - a vampire during the day is as feeble in combat as you would think. We called it “The Frustration of Dracula.” He was fun to play, but it was very difficult to win with him. Still, I have fond memories.

While no game is ever going to translate perfectly from the board to digital I have to tip my hat to Nomad games for taking on Fury of Dracula, not just for doing it, but doing a very capable job.

*When you read negative reviews about the lack of 1 vs 4 during initial roll out of the game, I have to point out that this was clearly posted on the store page well in advance and in the discussions. It shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone and it’s a poor excuse to give a thumbs down. It was perfectly clear and the developers have repeatedly stated why they released it as 1 vs 1 and 1 vs AI initially, along with their plans to work on and release 1 vs 4. Understandably, the developers want to get it right, so we just need to be patient. Their professionalism and consistent feedback to our inquiries leads me to believe they will get it done.

Jurassic Island: The Dinosaur Zoo

Jurassic Island: The Dinosaur Zoo

I couldn’t place 2 objects (Restaurant, Souvenieershoop)

Inverted scroll ( zoom out instead of zoom in)

The menu doesn’t let you place objects near the border of it

Repairing a fence just deletes it

if you don’t buy a car at the start you’re screwed

No options ( graphic, sound)

Road and fence are free

Roads don’t connect right with the one integrated with the map

Is it worth it? NO … Unless someone would fix it but the game is just one .exe file so good luck with that

This game is so wrong made that I couldn’t even use on it CheatEngine

Great concept - build your own Jurassic Park, omg dinosaurs!!

Reality - there is definitely work to do before this is a playable game, had a few game crashes as well.

In its current state, I don’t recommend the game. I found the controls to be hard to use, the screen navigation also needs to be improved.

To help in the future -more user tips need to be included, it wasn’t always obvious what you had to do or how, and the money going down so quickly meant that you couldn’t really do a lot.

Welcome to the Game II

[Review for “Welcome to the Game II” by Reflect Studios]

Enjoy reading this long-ass wall of text :)

This game is absolutely awesome. One of the best horror games of all time, in my opinion. The feeling of tension that it creates, the brutal jump-scares and perma-death makes this quite possibly the most intense horror game I’ve ever played. Yeah, I WAS scared of Monstrum at first, but I got used to it over time. This game actually made me scream once, and I pretty much never scream from games, like, ever.

I’ve played this game through and through and it’s honestly one of my all time favorites.

Coming from the first game, I thought I had a great advantage coming into this game, but boy was I wrong. After listening to the tutorial with Adam, which is a must for new time players, I was still baffled with all the new mechanics this game has to offer.

But here is the thing. You may be overwhelmed at first glance, but don’t. This game is a “make your own strat” kinda game where you can use your own methods to finish this madness. Let me get more in depth.

As a fan of the first game as well as the horror genre as a whole, I feel like if you enjoy horror games that are heavily influenced by sound design, hand drawn backgrounds and characters, forign culture, tension and compelling settings scenarios and characters, I cannot reccomend this game enough, even at its current 30 dollar price point.

PROS:

  • Extremely strong sound design; perhaps one of the most well done use of sound effects, silence and background noise. The sound design works so well within the games system, as well as adding to the enviornment, it’s nothing short of exemplary.

Zardy’s Maze

Zardy’s Maze

This game is pretty much the concept Baldi’s Basics created, but enhanced to a sharp point. It does have a small amount of RNG dependence, but most games do. The people you see complaining about RNG just don’t know about how the enemies act, which, to be fair, is not taught by the game, due to it trying to be a cryptic, trial and error experience.

This game is a really good time killer, especially with the challenge mode, since it changes up how the game functions, i’ve already almost wasted a day of my one life on this earth on it, and with it being free, you can’t really go wrong with it. You can support the creator on the itch.io page for Zardy’s Maze or at their merch store. I’d give it a 8.25 out of 10.

((Full disclosure; I am friends with the developer of this game, so that will no doubt affect my review. Also, the vast majority of my playtime was not through steam.))

Still, I enjoy Zardy’s Maze, and would definitely recommend it.

The game was definitely made with past survival horror games in mind like Baldi’s Basics & Slenderman: The Eight Pages. I think this helps it.

Zardy’s Maze, at least initially, is spooky, unsettling, and deadly. However, once the confused panic from your first few attempts begins to wane, you realize the game is relatively straightforward.

Biocide: Karver Island

Biocide: Karver Island

Biocide takes place on Karver Island. You have been hired by a rival company of Celledyne a global leader in pharmaceutical and biogenetics. Your mission is to infiltrate the facility on Karver Island and recover data linked to experiments done by Celledyne. As well as locate a rogue scientist who has been selling research and secrets to the highest bidder.

Biocide plays much like the recent Resident Evil remakes with an inventory and combat system that mirrors it closely. The game is full of puzzles, tense moments, and lore inspired by some of my favorite classic horror games.

Boogeyman 2

Boogeyman 2

Good horror game!

Though I haven’t even tried to beat Nightmare yet (though I have a feeling I’ll be given up trying to beat it like I did on the Nightmare Night from the first game, but likewise haven’t tried yet, anyway), but beat the other 7 nights. The gameplay feel the same from the previous game but new too, like instead getting batteries you recharge your same batteries. Like the new design of the Boogeyman, with the trench coat & all.

Though I have one negative thing about it, and that is flashing the light on the Boogeyman. Sometimes I flash the light on him & it won’t work, like I will have the radius of the light right on his hand opening the vent & nope not stopping, seem like directly pointing the center of the light on him to stop at times. Anyway, enough of that, anyone reading this try the game yourself to survive from the Boogeyman.

Boogeyman 2 is a FNAF-styled horror game in which you are trapped in an itsy-bitsy room, with a flashlight with the lifespan of a laptop (TATTLETAIL?), a recharger, and of course, the Boogeyman. Your goal is to fend him off for 7 nights (8 with Nightmare Night) until 6 A.M. That’s it.

So, what makes the game scary?

Before that, let’s start with the problems.

There is a pace-breaking bug, in which pressing right-click too fast will make you recharge your flashlight for 1 entire second. In a game where you can die as early as 10 minutes in-game, it completely ruins the flow of ‘‘quickly flash-banging the entire room in panic’’ gameplay style, when in a pinch.

Cluck Yegger in Escape From The Planet of The Poultroid

Cluck Yegger in Escape From The Planet of The Poultroid

For a game that was made back in 2015, this game is amazing. The plot is funny yet interesting, the sound design is great, with the sound of rain drops hitting the roof of the space craft and the sound of alien chickens roaring in the back parts of your ship. It caught me off guard how good this game is, and for only three dollars!

For the people who say “Its just a FNaF clone!!” It isn’t? It takes the concept of the original FNaF and adds on to it in almost every way possible. It is WAY more than just a clone.

This game is a parody DONE RIGHT…lemme explain. Cyieftpop (acronym for game) is a promotional game for another game called spaceventure or spaceguest (I FORGOT) you play as Cluck Yegger Free Ranger as he goes to the planet of the poltroid to stop Cernol Zanderz and his evil poltroid chicken factory called BFC Bodasious Fried Chicken, when your flying into the planets atmosphere you get shot with an ion storm and crash land right in front of BFC. The games story has Cluck repairing his ship durring the day and recharging the solar battery for his NIGHT TIME SURVIVAL. At night time you have to play Poltroid Peekaboo with your Robotics cussin’s until day light (poltroids hate light remember that.) Clucks ship comes with two security doors to the right and left of him and in front is the main control pannel which allows him to check his ships cameras, scan for enemies in the factory, and activate a blast shield (for a big friend that hatches on night 3…i call him fluffy…cluck calls him BIG FRIGGEN CHICKEN) The repairs on Clucks ship takes 7 days exaclty so help the free ranger escape from the planet of the poltroid before he gets nibbled into gibblets by his feathered cyborg cussin’s
