Blackhaven

Blackhaven

its ok.

I’m not saying its unplayable!

The story isn’t bad, and i did enjoy it a few times, but its mostly just walk around, press this, read that, listen to this audio. you don’t actually get to make decisions or explore properly, visually its nice, but there is so little of actual interest to look at, the house itself was disapointingly small, with only two chairs, a small table, a bed, a weird thing on a wall, and a few stone pillars. it doesn’t feel like a proper museum or historical exhibit.

I really liked this game. For me it was pretty much Job Simulator because:

  • I work in history, preservation & archives (the game even mentioned one of my old jobs, Library of Congress)

  • I’m Black

  • I live in Maryland, visited Virginia lots (obv. not now, not trying to die of modern plague)

Hence why this game was basically Job Simulator for me. From the decor to the scanner/computer set-up to the gift shop to the micro-aggressive White employees (I couldn’t help but to go, “wow, did they just pull these emails direct from the jobs I have been on?") to the douchebaggery of the estate when there are Black American patrons trying to simply trace their family trees, not write exposes, because the estate goes “Oh noes! Our reputation!” - everything is pretty dead on accurate for me. It’s also wild hearing places in Maryland & Virginia and going, “I know where that is and, wow, these documents look just like the ones I scan and transcribe daily.”

Attentat 1942

Attentat 1942

I am certainly partial to games that tell a story. However, games that pass down important and historical information are even better. A game that can entertain and teach possesses a special power. Not only can the game effectively deliver important information that the player is more likely to retain than they would sitting in a history class, but it also engages them in such a way that the information becomes relevant and memorable. I know I’ll never forget how my hands sweat when the gestapo knocked on the door and I had to quickly find a way to nervously delay them. I was impressed with the mechanics during that mini game, and I think that games like this should be made available, and perhaps even replace, outdated teaching techniques in school.

Attentat 1942 is a FMV game, where you want to know, what happened with your father and mother in Prague at the Second World War.

What I really liked in the game, is how it looks. Now, the videos has all right quality, however the older cutscenes are made with comic styled, but more like newspaper version of that, and those cutscenes looked amazing. Everything is understandable from them and looked really nice.

About the story, I liked it really much. Reminds me of older stories from the same time, which I heard from my grandparents. It showed the war from a different perspective, which is not cover in history books or in TV properly. Most of the choices you can do in the game makes sense and bring the story forward. Characters have their motives and own story is really nice, however I need to mention, that these stories happened and that gives a whole new depth to it.

Casina: The Forgotten Comedy

Casina: The Forgotten Comedy

An interesting take on classic play, that needs just a tad polishing

Casina….well not gonna lie, it was a pretty unique experience for me since I have almost no idea about classic play. So, by the time I finished the visual novels (which surprisingly hooked me in) I was kinda curious so I looked for the original Casina play. I was like “aaah so this is what they’re adapting” and I like how they tried to keep it as close to the original play as possible.

Now about the game

Real player with 4.4 hrs in game

Casina: The Forgotten Comedy is a modern iteration of the ancient Latin play set in Greece with the same name “Casina”. I have a little background with theatre and plays and was excited to enjoy the story and the art together in a different way! Fully voice acted with accompanying art and scenes to set the stage of a highly desirable slave and all the men who wish to have her to themselves.

Even before playing the game, I could tell the art of the game was going to be easy on the eyes. The art for the game is well done and I enjoyed the consistency across the entire game. Some of the backgrounds aren’t as finely detailed or manicured but were still appealing and enjoyable throughout. I like the idea of having choices in a visual novel and multiple endings, it makes it feel like your choices may have bearing on the outcomes which makes for a more focused patron of the story. Others have said they don’t care for the voice acting, and while it is not the best of the best and some of the ranges of character seem limited, I still found them to be very well done in craft and style. The voices felt like they were fit for the characters they were voicing, which I feel like is the key to voice over acting like this.

Save One More

Save One More

Save One More:

One of the many honourable serviceman on the battlefield is the one with the role of the Medic. These individuals are exposing themselves to the same dangers and fears as any other soldiers in battle. Not only do they have to dodge bullets and upcoming bomb shells, just like any other warrior, but their primary job is to get to their wounded comrades as fast as possible, without thinking twice about their own life. They definitely have a super sense of hearing to be able to make out the call, “Medic,” between explosive shells and whistling bullets. What courage these men must have in such chaotic situations, motivated by the thought, “I must save one more.”

6/10

A nice twist on war gaming

Short good game. I quite like art style.

A few tweaks would make a huge difference:

Firstly:

cut scenes should be skipable.

secondly:

the game displays wounded/saves/dead if one soldier goes down 5 times and you save it 4 times before it dies score would be 5/4/1\. when your dealing with groups of 20 or 30 soldiers its very hard to tell how many units are currently down. Quite a few times I though I'd revived all wounded only to have the dead count surprise me by going up.

## 古代人生 Ancient Life

This is a charming ancient life sim game.

While the controls and concept can be a bit difficult to master, once you get the hang of the game this is an absolute delight. For those that like dynasty games like cursader kings-why on earth is this not a cateogry of games on steam?-will be happy to know this game follows that concept of a dynasty rpg with an even closer lence than in crusader kings. There are many life paths for characters to experience and many mini-games to play to advance along these life paths. The majority are a lot of fun and give a nice taste of the ancient life.

it is fun to play but I don't recommend

too difficult to earn income

1). sell crickets: this is best way to earn income so far

2). crickets tournament:

only won provincial match once

… even your opponent's bugs were weaker than yours but you still lost the game - make no sense to me

3). Special products: once your honor value reach each threshold (100, 200, 300), you will unlock different special product (max 3 kinds per city) ... and here is a bug.

you can buy the highest rank special product, but you won't have earn any income once you sell it ..

### Things you need to know about before playing or purchasing **The Gate of Firmament** ( **穹之扉** in Chinese)

At the foremost, I have to be frank I am a fan addicted to **The Gate of Firmament** and its gaming series. But in this review I will try to elaborate neutrally the pros and cons of this game alongside with things you might be interested to know about.

* _Languages Supporting_. You attention here please, this game only supports **English, Japanese, Chinese, Traditonal Chinese** with the corresponding UI, menu and subtitles. So feel free to play if you are English or Japanese players, but unluckily for players in other regions, whether waiting for mods( or official translations, donnot be expecting on that ) or choosing not to buy is at your discretion.

### Final Fantasy Love Stories? Pfft

This RPG i played it over three years amidst all the work and disappointments I had lol. and it is a real gem. Its basic outline is like 3/4 good FF games comprised together. But the story is a very powerful one and has one of the beautiful romantic storylines ever. The gameplay is pretty interesting, it has many locations, quests, equipment, forging, enemies and so manyyyy easter eggs hidden inside. It has this range of achievements that are so difficult and can be time consuming, to my knowledge only 3 people completed all achievements til date. I also think some achievements are bugged and that's also a reason but regardless this is a pretty good game to play. Also this is one of the games where you can see how much the developers have cared for you, the small clock on the right up, good controls, mouse camera option etc. I was touched by it.

## Behind the Horizon

I've been enjoying this game a lot. It has quests, farming, animals, magic, crafting etc. You get to explore a pretty big world and meet the villagers. The scenery is very pretty and it has seasons. It is a very unique game. The developer has answered questions, taken in feedback and suggestions and fixed bugs rather quickly. I am very satisfied with my purchase and would recommend this to anyone.

This is a great game.. The developer is VERY responsive and open to new ideas. and they any fix issues quickly.

Its a farming game BUT don't expect Stardew Valley, although it has a somewhat similar loop. IE farming, explore ect, although with a "Nature" theme..

Progression can be slow at times, but blossoms after chapter 1..

Make sure you read the help F1 as it explains your tools. Use the MAP.. to keep track of possible resources.

## To Burn in Memory (Anniversary Edition)

Concise and very engaging. Great aesthetic, uses some beautiful flourishes to add to the atmosphere. Played it and finished it twice and I still wanna go back to make sure I have seen everything. Definitely give it a try!

This one is good for those moments when you're torn between reading a book or playing a game. This game is somehow simultaneously text-based and atmospheric, interrupted only by a couple of UI flaws and the constant feeling of disorientation. Maybe the latter was intentional due to the story's content, but still, it would be nice to have "go back" as an option all of the time. Overall, I liked it.

![Detective Di: The Silk Rose Murders](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/792040/header.jpg "")

## Detective Di: The Silk Rose Murders

### Recommended, with some reservations

**The case for**

Detective Di: The Silk Rose Murders is a murder mystery game, so the first, most important question should be: is the mystery engaging? And it is, which is why it earns my thumbs up. The plot is intriguing and the pace is generally good all throughout the game. It tells several short stories, with an overarching plot connecting all of them and ending on a satisfying conclusion.

**The case against**

When compared with other murder mystery games, like the Gabriel Knight, Sherlock Holmes or Laura Bow series, in Detective Di there's surprisingly little _detectiving_ to do. There's a clue board that fills up as you uncover relevant information, but you don't have to actually figure out what clues are relevant or how they connect, as the game does all of this automatically, and once you reach the end of the chapter and the board is full Magistrate Di will make all the connections himself and explain his conclusions to you. All the actual detective work in the game is done automatically.
