Sword of the Stars II: Enhanced Edition

Sword of the Stars II: Enhanced Edition

Recommended? Sort of.

I bought this at a steep discount years ago (less than 10 bucks), and have alternately loved and hated it ever since.

The game was originally released in a mid-alpha state, resulting in a lot of the rage evidenced in some reviews. After a free expansion, about 50 mid-sized patches and over a hundred micro-patches, what you have is basically a game in permanent mid-beta.

Most of what could be fixed without a complete redesign has been. What remains is an extremely time-consuming, mostly rewarding game that will occasionally infuriate you.

I currently have over 1,000hours in this game.

Here a list of things within the game on a scale of 1-10

Individual race design- 8/10 (each race still feels completely unique and fresh like they did in the first game)

Artificial Intelligent race design- 10/10 (this was actually done flawlessly and very unique compared to

other artificial intelligent races created in the same and even other sci-fi genres. It’s a very fresh new look on AI playable races)

Story- 2/10 (there is no story, other than the lore you get from either the forums or within the encyclopedia their really nothing else.)

Beacon

Beacon

Updated Added 3/24/2019

Keep in mind this is a game still in beta phase, so it’s not quite finished. I’ll likely update my review as Beacon continues development.

I absolutely love top-down shooters and Beacon is no exception, in fact, it makes me appreciate them more. I’ve stuck around playing since it was released on Itch. It’s changed quite a lot, such as additions of enemies and bosses, loot areas, and of course all the bug-squashing, both technical and literal. It’s a little terrifying that there’ll be even more enemies and bosses later, which means plenty more ways to die, but hey, mutations are a thing.

Beacon has a nice low-poly artsyle, a pretty good soundtrack, and interesting writing and ideas. It has some weird design choices regarding weapons and enemies, but is over-all rewarding, if not occasionally frustrating due to a few enemies.

The gameplay is pretty typical: you can use 2 guns, have 1 equipment, 1 consumable/held passive, a grenade type, and as many passive non-held items as you want. You can smack things and dodge-roll, too.

The big game idea is that, when you die, you use DNA pickups you collect from enemies and can “mutate” next run… Or you can do what I did and beat it without mutating, which is pretty doable. Mutations change how the character looks/acts/stats and how the character reacts to items and story elements.

Rising Constellation

Rising Constellation

Rising Constellation is an awesome game which is mixing strategy and role play at a perfect level.

It offers many distinct gameplay based on factions and its agents mechanics - however, remind it’s strongly depends on team play!

Indead, this game is part of those who are perfectly designed to work in cooperation with your mates, but definitely not alone.

Use Siderians and rule your teamates, just because you’ll get the economy power - or perhaps you’ll prefer bite everyone using large fleets lead by Navarques.

Rising Constellation is 4x RST game still in developpment.

Created from a small team of Swiss developper, I was a player of thier first MMO RTS 4x game: Asylamba.

I see RC (Rising Constellation) like an MMO RTS 4x game based on Agents (Navarques – Ereased – Sidérians).

I really enjoy the game for is background story (lore can be added by players participation) , B&W graphic style and is MMO possibility !

There is now 1 mod to play : fast flash 2H gamemode , this is quite small with 1 or to 2 games per week with a small cummunity.

Colossus Mission - adventure in space, arcade game

Colossus Mission - adventure in space, arcade game

I think the people most likely to enjoy this are fans of cave flyers, so I give it a recommended rating since that appears to be the game’s target audience. Meaning if you look at this list and think to yourself “yeah my kind of games,” then Colossus Mission will be for you. Everyone else will probably want to hold off on it, or at least wait to see if it gets any substantial updates.

In about an hour of play, I completed 55 of 73 levels. I expect it would take me another hour to beat the rest of them; the later levels were really becoming a steep challenge for me. The scoring system allows you to spend your earned points to skip stages if you find them too difficult. Each skip costs 5 points, and you can earn up to 3 points per stage depending on how well you perform while completing them

COLOSSUS MISSION is an arcade game with raw and slightly angular graphics and a various levels of difficulty. The first stages are easy but then the game becomes much more difficult. I recommend it to players who are interested in flawless playing games on time.

Star Waker

Star Waker

A wonderful bullet hell game, after not having played a bullet hell style game for many years it was quite enjoyable to play this game, even with its few frustrating moments. But what bullet hell game doesnt offer such frustrations every once in a while?

This game takes place IN SPACE! As Ariane Ducenar you learn of the back story of the galaxy and what all has happened to your fellow kind. Learning quickly of a virus that has doomed mankind into a mostly permanent semi-cryogenic stasis in pods awaiting a supercomputer to make a cure.

Real player with 17.9 hrs in game

Star Waker is a nice Shooter with a compelling story and some RPG elements. The upgrade system in particular is very well done, rewarding you for achieving bonus objectives and the skills changing the way you play as you unlock them. The story is nice but some times the good ideas are a bit held back by a somewhat poor delivery. Gameplay wise while there is some cases of annoyance due to “unlucky” inavoidable damage (but the game seems to be built with that in mind), the fatastic boss fights were definitly worth it as for some of them I was feeling like I was fighting a boss in a souls game.

Cosmica

Cosmica

The game has some polishing to do - things are a little tricky to figure out at first; there’s too much text on some screens; and I like the retro vibes from the art style, but not all the cards have unique art at this point. Once you past the initial lack of clarity though, it’s interesting and unique gameplay. The card effects are simple yet the strategy is intricate, and the deck manipulation aspect is something I haven’t experienced before - l have to think about every play, as opposed to some rogue-like deckbuilders where I often feel I’m on autopilot. I tried it on Steam Link too, and it transfers nicely to mobile. I look forward to seeing what comes of it.

The ORBITAL

The ORBITAL

Orbital - first person sci-fi survival horror. You are one of the last, (or maybe last) crew member. Your mission is to find out what is going on and get out from the spaceship. Will you survive, or not, will depends only on you.

You are an ordinary member of an expedition to explore new worlds. Your responsibilities include maintaining the ship’s subsystems and maintaining the working equipment. After another expedition to the surface of the nearest planet, you began to notice some oddities in the behavior of an electrician. But you blame this on the unexplored effects of exposure and the electromagnetic field of the new world. And one day you wake up as usual. But nothing else is normal on your ship.

Can you be smart and get off the ship that has turned from home to your worst nightmare?

We are participating in the Unreal Engine Dev Contest 2021. There are a lot of great projects coming out this year. And we are honored to be a part of this holiday. Follow the links, subscribe to our social networks, evaluate the project in the competition and add it in your wishlist!. We are glad to see you!

Features of the game

Several unique types of monsters

You will not feel safe in any corner of the ship. Only by getting used to one situation in the world can you unexpectedly find yourself in another. And what worked before may now be useless. Can you adapt?

The same spaceship - a different place

The location of the items changes and the available rooms change after each failure.

Different scenarios

Explore the ship, collect notes about the last moments of the life of the crew and find a way to get out of there.

Dangers and Opportunities

Using the work tool, discover new places and previously inaccessible areas. You don’t have a chance to confront your enemy directly. But you can distract and run away. If you’re careful

Death is the loss of everything

If you are lost, this is the end. When you die, you will start the game from the beginning. On a different ship, in a different situation. Another person. Good luck.

After nearly 90 hours and having seen the game to its completion, I’m finally comfortable editing in a final review.

Pros:

–- The game’s description and screenshots are very accurate for what you’re getting here: an expansive open-universe RPG with the look and feel of an old action-adventure SNES game.

— Among the biggest selling points for After the End continues to be developer interaction. Throughout the early access period and post-release, The Sworn has consistently been available to field questions and bug reports in the forums. I very much value this!

UPDATED REVIEW:

In a time of loot box gambling and unfulfilled promises many devs have been screwing over customers so it’s nice to see

an early access dev actually keep true to their promises and finish their game. This game has a couple of small issues, but what it does achieve is

so fun and refreshing that it is worth peoples attention.

I originally played through and finished the game during its 0.08 alpha.

It was prety different but i loved it! You can read my original review under this one.
