The roles in Pulsar explained:

Pilot: shout at the engineer to give you more power, get shouted by the weapons officer for a firing solution, practice your “ooops” every time you crash into stuff, die suddently because the entire ship is on fire and you were focusing on the external camera

Scientist: you never have enough power for anything because everyone thinks you’re useless, except when the ship is swarmed by viruses and/or they need urgent healing. It’s like IT, you are only ever acknowledged when something goes wrong

BADA Space Station

BADA Space Station

Badass aims to bring short bursts of intense action by pitting you and your pals in an Arena against hordes of different enemies. The players will need to navigate through the different Arena Segments, killing all enemies that are sent against them and survive in order to win.

This is a co-op focused game. Gather your friends, stay close and coordinate in order to survive. At launch, there will be four available characters to choose from, all different and with unique playstyles.

All Characters share a similar control scheme. However, their Core Attacks, Weaponry, and Skills vary. This will have players make several choices on how they want their character to play out. Character progression is set by earning promotions and each new skill might open a whole new playstyle that you maybe had not yet considered. Do not get cocky though, the waves are randomized and you will not know what exactly comes next. So choose your skills and character wisely.

THE BRUTE

What happens when you combine Chewbacca and Conan the Barbarian? A furry brutality happens. Revel in the guts of your enemies as the first to enter the action and the last to leave. Use your gigantic Gun-Sword and either dismember or shoot your weakling enemies. Brawns is not the only thing this character has, from Explosive Rounds to Inspiring Brutality, this character has much more than meets the eye.

THE PUPPETEER

Like going fast? Like dodging bullets like nobody’s business? Like transforming your hand into a boomerang and throwing it around dismembering your unfortunate enemies? Then the Puppeteer is for you. Damage per second is her thing, and she does not shy away from playing dirty by becoming a blob that makes her invisible to her enemies. She can also fuse with other friends or foes, giving advantages or disadvantages to them.

THE SCARLET MAGNET

If you like tanking all the damage and if you like humiliating your enemies by using your Gravity Gun, then the Scarlet Magnet is for you. The best crowd control abilities will be at your disposal and on top of that you can use your Gravity Gun to traverse or manipulate the environment. You don’t like where our level designer has put the explosive barrels? Just pick them up and throw them at the poor souls in front of you.

DR. SCRAP

He might not look like it, but he is the smartest of the bunch. So smart that he modified his office chair into a machine of death. His Melee Attacks are nothing to boast about, but he does not need them. He is all about pure firepower and gadgets. All kinds of machinations can pop out of his chair, from Healing Turrets to Explosive Spiders, and if the worst happens, he can simply pick up his chair pieces and carry on with the fight.

BUT WAIT-

Why all this aggression? Why the violence? Can’t we all live peacefully?

**ABSOLUTELY NOT.**The premise is simple:

In this far far away galaxy a very odd Event happened a long time ago. The sun stopped emitting the usual rays that… you know… suns do. Instead, it started emitting pure badass hormones. As a result, every living thing in this galaxy became super pissed and macho, creating chaos that lasted ages. But the Big Four Companies did not like the chaos, as it decreased sales. Yes, capitalism existed - even before the Event - and no matter what the money needs to flow.

MEET YOUR SPONSORS

They created the BADA Space Station and started having their employees fight in the Arenas in order to promote their products to their now bloodlusted customers. Simple advertisements did not cut it anymore. On the other hand, advertisements from the most badass creatures in the galaxy were priceless. You would only buy something from someone stronger than you. And that’s where you come in.

  • Choose your Character.

  • Fight with your friends against countless enemies.

  • Promote the Sponsor Products during the battle.

  • Earn their Influence for a wide variety of Bonuses.

  • Level Up.

  • Unlock up to 20 Skills.

  • Gather randomly generated Loot.

This is a neat game! The style of the ship and the ship manual are super flavorful and I had fun messing around with it. The one problem is that it’s a bit repetitive: most of the hazards you can see are handled in very similar ways and it feels like once you’ve played it for a few hours you could start to memorize most of the steps. Definitely once your Mission Control has gotten a feel for how to navigate the manual the missions become pretty easy.

That said, the aesthetic is great and if it interests you I definitely recommend it. Just know that you won’t be getting too much playtime out of it unless you regularly invite new players to be in charge of Mission Control. I’d love to see the game expanded in some way with either dual hazards or more variation in how you solve problems, but it’s a fun package as it is and I plan to keep showing it to friends.

As someone that has played a lot of Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, and ALSO someone that loves all the movies/series about various NASA space programs, this game seemed right up my alley.

So my friends and I got into character and decided that we didn’t need to preview the manual, we just jumped in. Then we died, and died, and died again. Since it’s the first day the game came out, we couldn’t even look to search engines for help guides. Eventually, though, we read the manual correctly and things improved. (And by ‘we’ I mean my friend did. I’m still very confused.) – Hint, page 57 is a good page.

Rising Constellation

Rising Constellation

Rising Constellation is an awesome game which is mixing strategy and role play at a perfect level.

It offers many distinct gameplay based on factions and its agents mechanics - however, remind it’s strongly depends on team play!

Indead, this game is part of those who are perfectly designed to work in cooperation with your mates, but definitely not alone.

Use Siderians and rule your teamates, just because you’ll get the economy power - or perhaps you’ll prefer bite everyone using large fleets lead by Navarques.

Rising Constellation is 4x RST game still in developpment.

Created from a small team of Swiss developper, I was a player of thier first MMO RTS 4x game: Asylamba.

I see RC (Rising Constellation) like an MMO RTS 4x game based on Agents (Navarques – Ereased – Sidérians).

I really enjoy the game for is background story (lore can be added by players participation) , B&W graphic style and is MMO possibility !

There is now 1 mod to play : fast flash 2H gamemode , this is quite small with 1 or to 2 games per week with a small cummunity.

This game is great to have fun with some friends. If you are playing with friends, I would suggest using controllers so that the keyboard isn’t cramped. When playing solo, some of the characters are much better at certain levels, so I would suggest you switch characters if you can’t figure the level out with the one you are using.

Good graphics. Controls are good for an action game: course and fine thrust, dash, dodge, two weapon slots, grappling hook. You shouldn’t have to be told to use a gamepad on this, it’s a TWIN STICK SHOOTER.

It’s hard though. You have to develop skill with fine maneuvering to avoid traps/sensors. Combat requires you to make effective use of dodge/dash and counterfire. You ambush slower enemies and have to be aggressive with the more nimble enemies. Opportunities to develop play style with different weapon types. Be prepared to go through the whole mission then get killed at the end, and just give it another go.

Got the free demo to try it out.

As another reviewer said, you need a gamepad for this to be fun, I agree 100% and would say definitely do not attempt to play this with keyboard/mouse. I would add to that apparently you need a really good gamepad.

I have an okay gamepad, about $20 US, which has served me fine for a variety of twinstick games, but I could not progress past the mine section of the Event 0 tutorial level.

There is a tight gap you have to hit, and my gamepad apparently does not have fine enough controls to hit the angle. Additionally, something about the way the game interprets stick movement results in no ability to perform fine movement adjustments; trying to go backwards gives a little stutter in the wrong direction, so getting a little off-course means death as correction becomes impossible. You simply cannot pass the tutorial without finer control than I have available to me.

Space Farmers

Space Farmers

I’ll always be for single-player, since my years spent on Ultima Online and some stiffs on World of Warcraft, but still.. small co-op games are always funny, and (when they run well xD) I used to play some multiplayers on Kongregate and such too.

This game’s easy, minimalistic and purely co-operative, it doesn’t present us a backstory or something complex but rather a funny gameplay combining action and platformer elements.

The levels are all gonna be faced co-op with a friend, so two players per level; the “English farmer” story can be quite funny but really in games like these it’s clear that the plot isn’t the core of everything xD although the backstory will come back even in the audio department and not only in the graphical one.

UPDATED REVIEW [11.7.14]

I had written a nice positive review but after my recent experience with this game I recommend my friends and fellow steam users to AVOID this headache.

Simply FUSTRATING and UNPLAYABLE game.

Keep in mind I have several HOURS invested (almost20hrs) into this game and had 100% achievement before its last update on this game but since this has reached a new LOW

I am beyond frustrated to the point I would say save your money for a mobile $1 game then pick this up on any bundle offered.

The Last Archwing

The Last Archwing

The last Archwing reminded me of the traditional plane/helicopter shooting games I used to play in the pizza parlor as a kid. The more up to date graphics and controls were nice and enjoyed the variety of funny characters. My 5 year old son was able to beat the game on casual and enjoyed the humor as well.

Real player with 37.0 hrs in game

The Last Archwing nails game balance. It’s frustrating enough to keep you interested, but not in a way that’s discouraging. The variety of enemies is just right. The pacing is on par with the best of 2D side scrolling and vertical scrolling games. It’s nostalgic in a way that brings back the classic game feel, but because of the story, music, graphics (specifically lighting) and voice acting, the game is firmly placed into the modern era of games. A shout out to the barrel roll game mechanic for being easy to use but hard to master. Smashing multiple enemies with one roll is immensely satisfying. Deciding between using barrel roll and Death Wave adds a layer of depth that is compelling. The music choice for the different levels and opening sequence is superb. I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I am enjoying this game.
