A good football game at a fair price, ideal for people who, like me, are tired of AAA football games.

cross board soccer

cross board soccer

Cross Board Soccer is essentially 2 opposing teams with goals, similar to soccer, on an oversized checkerboard like checkers or chess, with predetermined placement of 14 pieces spread in groupings of 4 and 3 on the defending sides. What makes this game so exciting and strategic is that while only one piece is being moved each turn, the evolution of the board makes keeping up and remembering where lines of safety are. The planning ahead and the fear of your goal being scored on from any angle is what makes the strategy of this game feel akin to chess. In short you must preserve the safety of your goal but also at the same time set yourself to jump one of your pieces turn by turn, and hopefully get to a position to where the opposing team has left it open for you to score and win!

Club Manager 2016

Club Manager 2016

8.1/10 (I rarely ever give 8 or higher for a game)

Best manager sim ever. I have played a ton of manager sims (FIFA manager, Football Manager, GoallineBlitz, Blackout Rugby, Powerplay Manager, HSU (Heartland Soccer Union), coupled with dynasty modes in games like Rugby Challenge 1 and 2; EA sports NHL, FIFA, Madden,…; 2k series, PES series, … and without question this game is superior.

The problem with most online manager sims is that you have to wait for games sometimes hence why a non-online one should be superior.

If you dont expect too much, this game is great, in short its a “low budget football manager” there is a lot that needs to be done ofc, but it is a really decent game. There is a lot of things that you can do and i will recomend it to those that cant affort FM or those who dont expect too much of it.

Football School

This game is fun! Not to be taken too seriously but it still has all the attributes of running a football club from playing decisions like tactics and training plus all the background responsibilities including stadium, finance, marketing and general club development. I’m still learning how to develop team tactics as the game seems more like pinball rather than a regular game of football as there is no goalie and the ball does not go out of play! If anybody is looking for a serious football tactics game like Football Manager then forget it. But this game is still challenging and you do need to consider the decisions carefully in how you run the club. It is very easy to run out of money. For $S10, this is great value.

2 Hour Review:

I love this game. Its no FM20 but its $9 and the administration of a football team is made very fun here with really nice menus. I wish there was a reminder/calendar page or an inbox for notifications like scheduling friendlies and operations because I missed those a few times early on. Being a day behind on a 5 day operation to earn 2 house points puts you out of the storyline in the introduction phase. The gameplay engine for low level teams is crazy bad. I did play a friendly against a level 16 team as a level 2 team and the AI looked much better with accurate passes and shots, leading to a 11-0 a** kicking of my upstart football team. That gives me hope that the grind on training will make the gameplay more exciting as you watch your decisions to play out. I’ve yet to reach the 5v5 leagues and will update once I’ve reached more.

Ganbare! Super Strikers

Ganbare! Super Strikers

Basic rundown

Ganbare! Super Strikers is a fun little game that focuses on the strategic layers of football, rather than fast action and quick decisions. It features XCOM-like turnbased gameplay, where you have a limited amount of actions per character, that you can use to move, tackle, pass, shoot and do other things that are common in football.

Clearly inspired by the old Captain Tsubasa nintendo games and sports animes/mangas, you have individual characters and teams with certain signature moves and/or behaviors/themes, that the player has to overcome. Those themes are mostly based around certain status effects like freeze, sleep, poison or simply increased stats and therefore higher chances for shooting, dribbling and so on.

Simple yet quite fun to play. However, there’s a an annoying bug, which freezes the game whenever you apply multiple debuffs to your opponent. Only get this game when it is on sales.

AVOID THIS COMPANY. This game is a money pit, which would be find if the people running it had any idea of how “customer service” works. They will change the rules in the middle of the game unilaterally without any notice, and if something goes wrong, you’re completely on your own.

The game engine on its own is good enough, but you can not succeed at this game without spending a ridiculous amount of money for “training cups”. They used to offer these “cups” at a discount occasionally but have stopped doing so.

the preparation before the matches when you get into the SL league is so critical, the training of youngster is so critical, to make money you have to be shrewd. i tried to do everything at once it looked easy in L1-L5 then i got the wake up call in SL league. Best game on the football manager market by a mile.

WE ARE FOOTBALL

WE ARE FOOTBALL

Great game made by German football manager developer veterans with tons of leagues and teams which keeps on getting better and better! A lot of the issues players had in the beginning have been addressed and fixed through regular updates or will be addressed in future updates,

It does not have official licensing but that is actually a positive in my opinion as it gives a more immersive feeling of an alternate football universe where you can lead your low-level team to international glory.

Not as much depth as SI’s manager with all the stats and info, obviously, but it has some nice gimmicks like the infrastructure and back-office options. And the game does not take itself too seriously so you can expect a few humorous things here and there.

First impressions? Not that good but has potential.

The UI is bloated and confusing, the upside is that you can delegate most of the tasks so you can just do that if you feel overwhelmed and get into it in a later date.

The UI in itself feels generic and boring, did mention bloated already so you’re quite busy looking for thing…you do get used to it at some point, I’m in my third season right now.

A lot of quality of life improvements are due, more often than ever I found myself using the arrow keys to navigate the ListViews the UI presents just to be disappointed that you can’t use arrow keys, instead I have to move and click my mouse around which is a pain and personally annoying.

Women’s Soccer/Football Manager

Women’s Soccer/Football Manager

It is a fun game, but I do believe its somewhat Random. It doesn’t require lots of your daily time, 5-10 mins is sufficient to do all the tasks.

Pros:

  • Doesn’t require lots of time

  • Doesn’t require deep knowledge

  • Easy overview and operation

Cons:

  • This game is built for you to lose money. For example, you buy a player for 250M. After purchased, the player has max 80% of that worth. So if you want to sell her right away again, you only get 200M, so you lose money. You can train them, and they gain skills, but you hardly ever get her back to the original value. This is not how the real world works.

A truly brilliant game and the STAFF page works fine in Windows 10 so unless the developers have listened to the negative comments and made it available, then the negative comments made have not understood the game mechanics and posted unfair negative comments???

ADDENDUM 9/9/2019

This game has since my last review become so biased it is frightening, BOTH the Manchester teams will always win if they are losing; however if you manage to beat them with one minute remaining FERGIE TIME kicks in and the game will play upto a maximum of 98 mins or until they score either a draw or the winner!!!

Football Drama

Football Drama

I’m not a football fanatic (freak) however the original and poetic approach to this subject has intrigued me almost immediately. The story is set in a fantasy (imaginary) and magical championship in which the player takes on the role of the coach Rocco Galliano. In order to improve the score of the Calchester Assembled the player will need to make the right choices and can do so only by identifying himself to Galliano’s troubling life.

This is a game of choices and experiences shrouded in an aura of mystery right from the start. The gossip, the simulations and the tone of the matches are hilarious.

Football Drama

In this game, I reached the final credits extremely quickly. Yoga instead of the first training session for my team and going to the bar to strengthen team spirit looked like a great decision, but something went wrong… Perhaps the owner of the team did not appreciate the subtle trolling in his address, in short I was fired. The second playthrough was more successful but less fun and it uncovered rather serious flaws.

Football Drama consists of 2 major parts – turn-based football matches and choice-based storytelling. There’re a lot of references to real people (you’ll meet several recognizable personalities from the football world and also Pier Paolo Pasolini) and references to clubs/situations and the storytelling part is good enough to entertain and catch your attention. On the other hand turn-based football matches become boring rather fast and almost unaffected by what is happening in story.
