Crayola Scoot

Crayola Scoot

This game is awesome!! I bought it for my 3 year old as every game I bought for her was had too complicated a menu system or controls were difficult and she just lost interest super fast. This is perfect for her and she loves it. Every other game she cries because she can’t figure it out, or gets stuck and needs my help. Crayola Scoot hooked her right in. I actually enjoy this game as much as she does, beautiful smooth game with good controls and fun. Reminds me of Dave Mirra BMX. Plus many different multiplayer options, or you can just free skate. We both LOVE IT!!

So, Crayola Scoot. Developed by Climax Games and published by Outright Games, I would not blame you if you looked at this game and thought it as a Splatoon/Tony Hawk/ Skate ripoff. I agree that this game is basically like those games combined, and with a license by Crayola of all people, it definitely got under the radar. However, should this 2018 release go above that radar? Let’s find out.

Story: From what I gathered, you are just some kid competing in the Crayola Color Cup and have competitions to do so. Not really a plot heavy game.

OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood

Even better than first one!

OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood is a hard as hell sidescroll arcade skate game, which is probably the best “skate” game you can get on Steam.

I’m a huge fan of the first one aswell, but in my opinion the developers managed to make a great game even better.

Here’s why:

The positive :

  • An outstanding soundtrack.

The first one had a great soundtrack, too and OlliOlli2 doesn’t disappoint in the slightest with it’s choice of music. It’s a mixture of electronica, glitch & and hiphop (artists like CidRim or Kyle Cook) and does just fit so well to game. One of the reasons I like that game so much!

Pros:

  • Great, responsive controls

+Lots of content

+Looks great

+Few glitches (other than some clipping with death animations that are mentioned below)

+Very difficult, yet rewarding enough to keep you going

+Very addictive

  • Has free-play mode for all levels

Cons:

  • $17 might be a little bit much to ask for a 2d side-scrolling game, but value isn’t really a concern if you end up liking the game and pumping hours upon hours into it (like I am likely to do)

  • Death animations are hilarious the first few times but are ultimately on the glitchy side with some clipping, and obvious disregard of physics, although intentional, I would’ve prefered somehting a little less over-the-top

Game seems fun, and I would love to play it with my X-box one controller but it doesn’t work.

Funny thing is, during the in-game tutorial it shows a xbone controller.

If you crash during the tutorial it starts the whole thing all over again….

The game is pretty trash but if you wanna have a laugh then sure buy it and have a go.

I was playing it with my Xbox 360 controller and it feels like the button inputs are lagging like my guy responds too late to my button inputs. Also like another reviewer said if you crash once you get yeeted back to the beginning of the level and have to go through the tutorial rubbish again which is annoying.

TL:DR

Feels and plays like a bad flash game, don’t bother.

Unless you like frustration that is.

Skator Gator

Skator Gator

SKATOR GATOR was just minding his own business when those greedy capitalist robots started ruining his swamp!

They’re draining the peat bog just to make mini golf courses!?

Skate across their oil pipelines towards the city to advocate for change and cause some mayhem along the way.

High octane, lane-based platforming challenges!

The pipelines stretch far and wide, with gator eggs scattered all about, robots trying to take you out, obstacles blocking your path, and much more that’ll truly challenge your mad skateboarding skills!

20+ levels to unlock and play!

It’s a long way to the city - Greenjamin has multiple levels to skate through in three different areas, plus there’s a few secret levels too…

Multiple gators to release into the swamp!

Rescue all those gator eggs and you’ll be able to change your look to fit your needs! Gotta look your best too, yeah?

Special developer times on each level!

We know you can skate the skate, but are you a rad enough skater that can beat our times? Think again, gator!

Last review was of the early access version. Only right to do the full version of the game. This game is Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2D basically. And by basically, I mean WTF I played this 5 hours straight a day?? The game is great, every problem/ bug thrown at the devs they fixed at a resonable timeframe. Achievements are good to go after, and 100 of them. Devs listen on their discord. For an eternity of re-playability, get yourself a THPS/ THPS2 soundtrack playlist and go on a mix of nostalgia and new age gaming wave to really put yourself in a fucking early 2000’s gaming nuthouse.

The game is great, for someone like me who has always been addicted to skateboarding.. If you are a skater you will play this game all day. If you are a gamer who wants a challenge this game wont last long. I think its the best skate game on PC even with how basic it is. My only problem is that the game is lacking some basic tricks such as board slides, lip slides, feebles. The game is new and cheap so lets hop they keep up with updates so ones day the game will have more but I see endless opportunity especially with the PC community, if they could add a way the community can make levels it would be great. Some flip tricks are missing as well, laserflips are missing and 360 shuvits. overall Id say for the price its a must have.

this is such a good game the style is clean and visually pleasing and all the tricks have such nice flow along with really nice smooth animations however this is probably just me cuss my laptop is a potato but if i do anything else besides free skate i get like 2 frames a second not even this happens when i do any challenges and if i try and record a video idk why this would be but ya my only suggestion is abit of optimisation with that but once again its probably cuz i have a potato computer i highly recommend you download this game

VR Skater

VR Skater

VR Skater is a gem, balancing nostalgia with cutting edge technology. Not everyone is or was a skater back in the day, not everyone has played irrecoverable hours in various Tony Hawk console games. A front side nose slide may be indistinguishable from a backside tail slide to you. None of that matters. If none of anything you just read chimes, you can and will still derive huge enjoyment from this game.

This VR experience matches accessibility with challenge. There’s an “easy to pick up hard to master” vibe. Such challenge may not be for everyone in the long-term, but it has me hooked here and now.

An incredible start to Early Access!

TL:DR Pros/Cons list at the bottom of the review.

This review will be subject to change as the product evolves and more content is added, but I wanted to share my initial thoughts on what’s available right now. (Playing with Quest 2 via the official Oculus Link cable)

VRSkater is what I would consider to be the first real VR Skateboarding game on the market. It captures the feeling of being on a board and is a thrilling experience! The trick list isn’t huge at the moment, but it satisfies most of the street skating tricks I enjoy. On top of that the tricks are actually challenging when in motion. Something I immediately loved about this game was the precision required by the player to execute things properly. You’ll definitely want to play through the tutorials to get a feeling for the mechanics.

This is one of the cutest games I’ve ever seen. Skating around the bubbly worlds, and chatting with all of the dogs to give them a helping paw is so fun. Already excited for the full release!

One of the most pleasant games I’ve played in a while, it’s definitely fun being a dog on a skateboard doing jobs around town or just barking at barrels.

While the gameplay takes some getting used to, I’ve enjoyed this relaxing and fun experience and I think you should too - it’s a charming game. Plus there are free hats to dress up Ollie - that’s pretty cool.

Tanuki Sunset

Tanuki Sunset

A Bird’s Eye View Curator 🦜

Introduction

Tanuki Sunset is a game in which you play as a rebel raccoon not only disobeying their mother by not wearing a helm but also all of the Tony Hawk knowledge I possess that you don’t do tricks on a longboard AND the titular Tanuki even does it without looking ahead!

Visuals and Mechanics

The visuals of Tanuki Sunset are a gorgeous depiction of the 80’s synthwavey style with dancing to the music suns and buildings and overall vibrant and un-photorealistic style of the entire game and it’s menus. As for the mechanics boy is this game an example of easy to learn and hard to master. Much further than steering, drifting and a few tricks the game doesn’t push you but if you want to do it well you need to be on the ball!

The glory of an indie game is the freedom to do with it what you please. Gone are the shackles of publishers chucking deadlines and investors expecting what will profit the most over what will be enjoyed the longest. Take the craziest idea in your head and so long as you have a decent crew and the wherewithal to plug the hours in, you can make that crazy idea happen. Like, say, piloting a longboarding tanuki through 80s inspired chillwave landscapes worthy of a computer wallpaper while Tokyo Drifting to a slappin’ soundtrack. Yeah. Indie games, man.

Skater Frog

amazing 10/10 the peek of game creation. IF i could pick one game to play for the rest of my life it would be skater frog. If i had to choose between having a happy healthy family in the future and playing skater frog i would play skater frog. if i had one last wish in life it would be to play skater frog. If i was about to die and God granted me one wish i would ask him to let me play skater frog for the last time. If i died and went to heaven i would ask God to let me play skater frog. If i was in hell and satan was about to punish me i would remind him that skater frog exists and he would let me be. The great tale of Leonidas and the army of 300 was told falsely the real reason he won was because of skater frog. Some say the power of Jesus didn’t come from God but from skater frog. Legends are told about skater frog and his return to stop WW2 and kill Hitler single-handedly himself. Skater frog is our hero and our saviour. Skater frog is the one above all. Skater frog is love. Skater frog is life.

Skater Frog: A true love story.

I’ve gotta say, I’m honestly speechless, You can see the passion and heart in this young Skater Frog. Visually, this game is stunning. Naratively, this game is incredible. this game follows the story of a young frog and his obsession for skating, at his local skate park. He meets “the one” and he’s obsessed with her, he can’t get over her. So she chases for her, but he feels like she’s thousands of miles away. But he won’t give up, Because he’s a skater frog. The showcasing of teen love in this masterpiece is incredible, it is honest, compassionate and amazing. You can tell this was coming from a developer with true feelings instead of a fake. This is a game I would recommend to anybody. This is a truly relatable piece. Thank you to the developers, you did not fail us one bit.
