Beacon Pines

Beacon Pines

Beacon Pines is a cute and creepy storybook adventure where you use charms to rewrite fate. You play as both the reader of the storybook and its main character, Luka. The game is set within the town of Beacon Pines and something strange is happening at the old factory outside of town. But Luka and his friends are the only ones taking notice! Sneak out late, investigate creepy labs, throw some pigs, uncover the truth, and maybe survive the summer.

There’s something happening at the old factory outside of town and none of the adults are taking any notice! It’s up to you and your friends, Rolo and Beck, to figure out what’s going on and uncover the mystery of that crazy green goo. Sneak out late, investigate creepy labs, throw some pigs and uncover the truth. Who said Summer holidays were boring?

Beacon Pines is a beautiful town set within a magical book. The Book is an unfinished story that, above all else, wants to find resolution. The Book works with the player to sort through the possibilities of its story in order to find a satisfying conclusion. The story can have many endings and ultimately it is up to the player to choose. But will The Book accept the player’s wishes?

Beautifully hand drawn art style, each character and environment has been drawn by hand. The result is a vibrant artstyle and a charismatic cast to help you survive the long summer holidays.

Use charms to rewrite past events and discover different stories. Every character in Beacon Pines has their own unique story where every conversation you have, drives the story’s narrative. What will Luka say to insult a bully? What’s the weather like? What the heck is that thing lurking in the bushes? It’s up to you!

Mythic Prelude - Concept Demo

Mythic Prelude - Concept Demo

Lucky me gets to write the first review for Mythic Prelude - Concept Demo. Despite being flagged and published on Steam as a full game instead of a demo (perhaps an error by the developer when publishing), this is definitely just a demo and not a complete game.

Mythic Prelude is a template flip from the godawful GameMaker Studio game construction kit. The developer took a template for a 2D top down Zelda style retro pixel brawler, filled out the detail, slapped a few asset flipped sprites and low effort retro pixel backgrounds on, and then dumped it on Steam. GameMaker Studio is a terrible quality “game” construction kit, so it’s no surprise that games “made” by copying + pasting templates from it are likewise terrible quality, and there’s no exception here. Game construction kits aren’t meant to make professional products, they’re meant to educate and teach people about some aspects of game making, and to make demos to pass around to friends.

Haunting on Howard Hill

Haunting on Howard Hill

Not all days are great days. Sometimes.. They’re very VERY bad days.

Coming Sept 2022

Howard Hill was a quarry town, built in the 90s, and eventually abandoned shortly after the surrounding factories and neighborhood came up. Violent crimes and missing persons lead to the shutdown of the quarry, and the people moved on. It laid deserted for years, only ever coming to attention when people would mysteriously disappear.

Beckett, a nearly retiring local detective, and his partner Fairchild, are tasked to investigate Howard Hill for any evidence of the disappearance of a young girl. When the two detectives get on-site, they split up to check the place out. That’s when things start getting strange.

A Rogue Escape

A Rogue Escape

An awesome short experience about learning the ropes of whatever the hell you are doing. The game is an “Escape room” type game, but in all honesty, this feels closer to a proper game with systems and such. I dont want to ruin anything, but the opportunity to make a more fleshed out systems driven game was opportune for this, but this still is just enough.

There is one puzzle that got me badly as the brightness of lights completely concealed the puzzle that I was dealing with, further more, the puzzle arbitrarily locked you out of a mechanism.

Real player with 4.7 hrs in game

It was a good game, but a bit too short. I hope it receives some updates in the future to add more content, but as it stands it only has 2-3 hours of gameplay. It is definitely worth playing, but you may consider waiting for a sale. I loved every moment of playing this game. It had a good story, and extremely fun controls. The sense of mystery brought by the discreet storytelling, and limited view of the outside world made it very captivating.
