Company of Crime

Company of Crime

Sometimes at the end of the day, when you need to talk about a game you’d recommend to someone, there are situations where you won’t say it’s a “good” game, or that it’s a particular pleasure to play, but you recommend the game because, for all its flaws and shortcomings, it has a spark. It has something that among the rest, makes it unique and enjoyable. Such is the case for Company of Crime.

A game set in London of the 60s, with a focus of gang wars and a strong influence from modern X-COMs, and to some extend Phantom Doctrine, has something to seduce. And indeed, the ambiance is there. The music, the clothes, the environnement. It’s all there. Yet, the game is, well, it’s janky. There is no hiding it, there are a bunch of bugs, some of with I had the dubious honor of helping to fix, but when you consider only 2 persons did all the QA, and the game was made by a very small team, you need to understand where you’re going. It is very much a game to get in the 15 euros or less, as that’s overall the value of such a game. It’s not big budget game, and what it delivers, I’m afraid to say, can’t possibly compete with a juggernaut like Firaxis backed by the greedy bastards at 2K(“2K, you love it, we ruin it!"). The core loop is repetitive fast, the enemies not varied, and while the heavy melee focused combat feels fresh and in some aspect reminds a bit of Into the Breach by some aspect(positioning and use of your skills to control the battlefield are key, and can lead to nice combos), at the end of the day, it won’t be something able to keep you hooked for too long, which is a bit of a shame.

Company of Crime:

Every country and indeed, city, in this beautiful world of ours has notorious individuals or gangs. Some are more famous than others. Al Capone and Lucky Luciano were probably the most notorious and known gangsters during the prohibition in America. In the 1960’s, the small and isolated island known as England had its fair share of dangerous criminals, with the Krays Twins and the Richardson brothers, to mention a couple. So, what is the business of crime? How hard is it to establish yourself and, most importantly, to keep yourself at the top of your game? On the opposite side of the coin, there are people who put their lives on the line to dismantle these organisations and arrest their members one by one. Will you become the next big mobster of the 60’s, or will you fight against them as the boss of Scotland Yard’s task force? One thing is for sure, you’ll know all about Company of Crime!

## Mafia III: Definitive Edition

After 3 playthroughs, I decided it's time to give this game a review. a different one from the majority of "Not Recommended" you see here. Mafia III Is deeply flawed and after the Definitive Edition upgrade, it yet remains the same but it had something special that kept me playing it for such a long time, I simply couldn't leave a thumb down on it.

### Story

🔹Mafia III tells the tale of Lincoln Clay, a colored man who got screwed by the greed of the Italian mob ruling the fictional New Bordeaux based on New Orleans. He loses his family and father figure and now he's out for revenge. However, this is not your average vengeance story that ends just with killing the bad guy. Lincoln wants to take everything Sal Marcano the mob boss has worked for, makes him suffer just the way he did by busting up his rackets, taking over the city district by district and killing closest to Sal including his wife, son, and brothers. Throughout the game, after each main mission completed comes up a cutscene where the people who knew Lincoln the most are participating in a documentary show on his life and actions, picturing real-life photos and videos. This is where is the story shines the most as you realize piece by piece on Lincoln's background and the damage he inflicted on the mob.

--- After putting in 85 hours into this game, I think I finally have a pretty good idea why I like it and why I hate it at the same time. TL;DR: Great story and themes, horrible game design with repetitive gameplay, bad graphics and horrible bugs and performance. Mafia 3 is a massive great tasting shit sandwich! It deserves the hate, yet it’s hard not to love at times. The solid writing and great characters with really good voice acting and pretty good facial animations, accompanied with great shooting mechanics and some improvements over the last game are spoiled by remarkably repetitive game design and the usual “open world” clutter of useless collectibles. *– [Real player with 87.7 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198013334506)* --- ![Prison Simulator Prologue](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1431610/header.jpg "") ## Prison Simulator Prologue The idea/concept is unique however with the way tasks are designed, where it focuses heavily on menial tasks/lots of micro..and random RNG events that can kick in - which should make your gameplay experience interesting but in actual fact, just turns your game into a total chaos mess crap. There are certain aspects of the game - that just makes it "feel" bad. I also dont understand why it has to incorporate "bubble head" effect into the product. Does it give better gaming experience? With the current game feel, it gives motion sickness.. Sigh. The potential for this product is huge but in my standards, falls average. *– [Real player with 3.4 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198083736752)* ---

--- Interesting concept; being able to search and confiscate at your leisure is a fun little power trip, I enjoyed cutting a deal with a prisoner to let him smuggle in his contraband, and I'll admit being able to name and model the prisoners after people of your choosing is a nice perk. But the gameplay itself is pretty awful. For starters, I spent most of the time trying to chase around a fellow guard to start a side quest, since the guard wouldn't stop walking and the talk button would only work for a fraction of a second before he was out of range again. Once the quest was done, it was back to chasing the guard around to collect my money. Initiating the quest and collecting the reward at the end should not require more skill and time than the quest itself, yet this felt more like a game of playground tag with guards and prisoners than anything else. When you're not playing tag, you're doing such menial tasks as repeatedly hitting arrow keys to do 12 reps on the bench press (while the prisoners who hate you are seen kindly letting you get your workout in unharmed?) or clicking to open and then close all four flaps of a cardboard box to search it (while half the items glitch and stick out of the box or sit outside it entirely.) If you get bored of this, there's some poorly-mechanicked darts and basketball to "enjoy" instead. *– [Real player with 2.4 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198098195599)* --- ![RE:Solver](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/882730/header.jpg "") ## RE:Solver Step into the role as an investigator under the RE:Solver Agency, a new investigation unit designed to take a fresh look at complicated cases. With your skills and newly granted overreaching privileges, you can access numerous confidential records on essentially anyone. Browse medical records, phone logs, browser histories, and social media to learn everything there is to learn about your suspects. #### Background The game takes place within a fictitious world, quite similar to ours, but with a few key differences. As crime rates are on the rise, a private agency called RE:Solver has sprung up, giving new power in the field of digital forensics. They aid law enforcement around the world by diving in and dissecting the case inch by inch, bringing a fresh set of eyes and vital information to the people in the field. Nothing will stop a member of RE:Solver to get to the truth. Not rules, not privacy concerns, not ethics. #### Gameplay Use the tools given and dig into every corner of the lives of the suspect. Collect phone records, credit card transcripts, daily habits, and more through the Emerald Network. Browse the game-internal internet for missing people, public records, social media, and more. Once you have a strong case, you may file them and hope you put the right person behind bars. #### Production This game is based on a series of investigation tabletop roleplaying one-shots written and conducted by Nils Munch during the Covid-19 lockdown. A great thank you to all the players and playtesters taking place in building and polishing up this game. #### Creative liberty While the world seems much like ours, all suspects and the criminal cases you are solving are a complete work of fiction, and any resemblance to any real individuals, living or dead, are purely coincidental. All characters portrayed are generated electronically, and no real people are displayed inside the game. --- ![Thief Simulator](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/704850/header.jpg "") ## Thief Simulator pretty good stealth game *– [Real player with 110.9 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198854013513)* cant wait for the sequal *– [Real player with 80.8 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198429591079)* --- ![During Before And After COVID-19](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1509630/header.jpg "") ## During Before And After COVID-19 Waste of time and money… *– [Real player with 1.1 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198128063651)* Its kinda Cool, looked Simple, NIce Jumpscare. *– [Real player with 0.9 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198066818187)* --- ![Hacker Simulator](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1754840/header.jpg "") ## Hacker Simulator The game is fine. There are a lot of features I was expecting that are simply missing. Tab completion in the terminal is missing. A place to sell accounts a "darknet" if you will. Finding bank accounts to steal money from. Currently the only way to make money is to do contracts. These don't pay much and feel grindy. You will quickly get bored because there is not enough variation in mission types. Making money takes a while most missions (in the first 10 hours at least) pay out 10 "shellcoins" which are bitcoins in the universe. The more "advanced" missions require you to compile a custom exploit which costs money (you can't sell this exploit to the darknet). You need to buy 3 different files which will cost you ~12 shellcoins and you'll end up making maybe 15 coins from the mission. *– [Real player with 30.2 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198070652939)* First, I like this game. It fun. BUT devs listen… it's slow and grindy. I hear there are cool things in the late game. I want to get there, but right now, I'm bored. Next, just an observation about most simulator games, this one included, what do I do with all this money? I beg of you, give me something to do with this money! Can I buy a new apartment? Decorate this one? Leave my house, like... ever? Go shopping? If there is nothing to do with the money, except make more money, then the game will quickly die in our libraries. Having money is only fun if you can spend it. Otherwise, it's just pretty paper. *– [Real player with 11.3 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198354727726)* --- ![The Big Con](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1139280/header.jpg "") ## The Big Con The game has a lot going for it, it's designed with optional content in mind, the locations are fun to explore, the aesthetic is very captivating, the soundtrack constantly changes to match the environment, and it has funny characters that create a grounded, but enjoyable narrative. I think the story had a good pace to it, if you take into consideration all of the things that can grab your attention, they managed to keep it together very well. You can casually complete the game around 5 to 7 hours, there are many optional achievements and cosmetic trinkets, although it would be nice to have the ability to replay specific chapters. Having played the game only once, I am not sure how much impact the narrative choices actually have, the only thing I can confirm is that certain quests have more than one soluton. It's not a difficult game in terms of puzzles and mechanics, there is usually a place to get hints, and sometimes the game offers you a way to skip a puzzle with a payment. As for the 'thief' gameplay, there is not much to it, it's just a simple timing event with little to no punishment for the failure - I guess it does not make for a deep con game, if you were expecting that. *– [Real player with 10.8 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197995669628)* Absolutely charming and filled with character. I don't normally gravitate toward things for nostalgia but this game captures the 90s feel so well I can't help but grin like an idiot while playing. The art style reminds me of so many cartoons and sitcoms from the era, complete with (optional) laugh track. The music is fantastic throughout. The dialogue has an endearing sense of humor. The areas are fun to explore and puzzles fun to solve. And the game, at least as I played it, feels strangely and incredibly wholesome given it's a game about stealing. *– [Real player with 8.0 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198096742804)* --- ![The Dope Game](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/466800/header.jpg "") ## The Dope Game The price isn't that bad, especially considering the current prices of the trading cards. The game itself however is pretty lackluster coupled with a mandatory install for another (free) game in order to unlock all the locations/perks in this game. The "secret lab" isn't implemented yet, and the "fun park" is pretty dull as well. The horrible horrible soundtrack. The music, and sounds, isn't bad for the first couple of playthroughs. But once you get the basics down, and start spending -10 seconds on each screen it gets pretty frustrating. *– [Real player with 24.5 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198018453161)* ### Overview _Drugwars_, _Dopewars_, and now there's _The Dope Game_. Same concept, but now it's on Steam. In case the player somehow doesn't know the drill, every game starts with a player borrowing money in a turn-based strategy to speculate on the dope market all the while either avoiding (or winning) fights with gang members and cops while hoping to raise enough money to pay back the loanshark and keep buying and selling their way to riches before the days expire. ### Graphics and Sound *– [Real player with 23.5 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198246234164)* --- ![Traphouse Druglord](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1354510/header.jpg "") ## Traphouse Druglord traphouse druglord *– [Real player with 24.9 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198951688261)* Very chilled fun addicting game buying/selling drugs. using the crypto/Trapcoin system helps you build your money alot faster and keeps a good strategy to the game. The graphics could use some updates to help with the quality of the game look but overall, the gameplay is very fun to manage. There is an END game to this but you can keep going and build your drug stash as much as possible. Try to do a 1million account challenge. :) *– [Real player with 10.7 hrs in game](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198290125100)* ---
