Dead Letter Dept.
After moving to the big city, you got yourself an apartment, and secured a temp data entry job- just to keep you afloat till something better comes along. Your official title is a Data Conversion Operator, but you’re really more like a warm body who types up all the junk computers still can’t read.
DAY TO DAY, you go to work & process the images displayed on your terminal, and type up whatever text is in front of you. Whatever can be made out, that is. Letters and lost mail, some mangled and twisted, that have travelled from place to place with nowhere else to go. Sometimes the mail you receive is a little strange. Sometimes, it feels like it’s talking to you directly through the screen.
DEAD LETTER DEPT. is a short horror game mystery experience, where you use your computer keyboard to type in various prompts, and attempt to decipher damaged images as oddities begin to appear.
Mouse & Keyboard are REQUIRED.
A keyboard with Function Keys and Control Keys (Insert, Page Up/Page Down) is strongly recommended.

Falling words
Well, definitely something I’d never recommend.
I’ve always been in love with games involving typing, I’ve been one of Europe’s fastest keyboard typer in my teens and I’m very proud of this being the only skill I’ve always had in my entire life.
This said, there are lots of typing games and most of them unfortunately, when analyzed and played, show actually to be the same thing: words falling down or popping up on the screen, and you’ve got to type them before they fall.
This game plus has some kind of achievement bug that makes the achievements unlock only after you close it, but that’s not so important.

I like these types of games. I like the skill required to play them. It’s nice that the game keeps track of stats and has leaderboards for each skill level.
However, I agree with others. The font leaves much to be desired. It is too hard at times to tell letters apart, especially when things are moving quickly.
As far as not recognizing keyboard presses, it appears that some of the words require capital letters, but there is no indication that the letters need to be entered in capitalized. The words I have found that require capital letters are Europe, Monday, April, August, Russia, European, and TV. Adding some indication that these should be capitalized would greatly enhance the playing experience.

While this game is being sold as a “hacking simulator”, a debate will likely rage about what exactly it simulates. In either case, it comes suspiciously close to being a realistic simulation of hacking. So close, in fact, I’m left wondering why the dev didn’t go the extra yards to make it inarguably so (maybe something he can shoot for in the future). Realism nit-picking aside, this game is full of very realistic nods to hacker and IRC culture, and in broad strokes, represents some of what goes on in actual exploits. While the experience of compromising systems is streamlined for the sake of keeping it an actual game (again, is it a puzzle game or a simulator?), in that “push a button, get bacon” sort of way you see in “hacker” movies, there was still much in the game that reminded me of taking the OSCP (for those who know my pain, you will find much in each mission to make you smile in that corpse-like rictus you had while laughing at emails and files during enumeration pratice in the Offsec lab).

A really funny game! It doesn’t take too much time to finish all the routes and it’s certainly recommended, if you search for a not too difficult game to spend some free time and relax. And if you love Greek myths, well, you will find this even funnier!

On Key Up: A Game for Keyboards
So now that the game has received all 24 levels and i went and redid the old ones(since they were all reset showing 1h in-game records but i had also wanted to try them all again anyways…) as well as did the six new ones from the latest update, and have 100%’d the achievements like… is this my 3rd time now? At least second. Glad i won’t have to do this ever again, enough Vietnam flashbacks gained by now. ;3 After all of this(and according to steam this new session of mine took about 3,7 hours, i know i most certainly haven’t played twice during the past 2 weeks :P)… i think it’s appropriate that i finally give this game a small review.

MHRD
The game is overall good, with some minor, and major flaws.
I liked how it taught the concepts, but it was primarilly useless. If you didn’t understand what the varioud gates are, then you’d probably either get a refund or search a video. The Idea of TED was a nice one…Most games I see force you to wire the same thing over and over, which can get quite annoying, but this game pretty much unlocks things when you get the general understanding…MOST of the time.
The game’s simplistic nature is very nice. With most games using electronic music, this game simply has the background buzz and whir of a computer from this era, adding a very nice tone and environment.

Having built my own legacy 7400 IC type CPU, this game by title alone intriged me. What a great idea! But from that initial excitement, I had to come to terms with several odities.
First off - the designs are all based on NAND chips. That’s a waste to just do a NOT gate. I had really hoped that we would start with a humble transistor/FET and created the first basic components there. A transistor count would be a lot better than a NAND gate count anyway - and I could make the designs a lot more efficient this way.

A pirate quartermaster
Don’t overlook this curious little gem of a game! Do yourself a favor and give it a try. I’ve never played anything quite like it.
As an added bonus the developer is very active and present, and has already provided several bug fixes and added improvements.
Edit 16th of October:
An earlier version of this review mentioned that the game needed some serious rebalancing, as it was very difficult to keep going for any significant amount of watches. The developer has since changed a number of things, and it is now much, much easier to progress in my experience.

This game is truly charming.
It has got style and character and a great atmosphere (it does not struggle to create a feel-good one).
You gotta love the music, absolutely enjoyable and this goes for most everything of this game.
It also has very good achievements that are desirable but seldomly quick to get.
They let you know there is more adventure for you in this game sort of in addition to the already
solid watch to watch “routine” of being the quartermaster.
Make smart decisions (one of them is not to think “1 portion” ought to be enough when there is no better reason to skimp there other than saving a few coins when that is not crucial) and you can sail a fearsome, capable pirate ship you will mourn to ever lose. This might even entail mourning the loss of your former captain (I admit that happened to me ;-) ).

A really fun community experience that has the chaotic flavor of the Cook, Serve, Delicious series combined with the feeling of victory that only true teamwork can bring. The theme song is incredible and is worth launching the game just to listen to.
