Beer Bar

Beer Bar

This game is so boring because there are no gameplay changes and no gameplay at all.

One of the most mundane games I have ever played, you click on the beer keg, you click on a customer, rinse and repeat. Sometimes the customer will pass out if you give them too much beer, sometimes the cat will get in your way and fuck up the pathfinding. Sometimes you click on the keg and don’t get beer, and sometimes you click on a customer and don’t give them their beer. It’s glitchy, boring, and tedious to 100%.

Fortune’s Tavern - Remastered

Fortune’s Tavern - Remastered

Riddled with bugs, unbalanced & clunky combat gameplay, no options menu, etc. - do not buy.

This is not a remaster - it’s an Early Access game & should be labeled as such.

Real player with 11.9 hrs in game

There are a lot of glitches and issues that make the gameplay feel clunky at best and at times downright impossible, which is really disappointing because the idea behind the game is great. If this were a beta I’d highly recommend it, but as a finished product it’s a mess. I’ve had to exit out of the game and restart it repeatedly because of bugs.

Unveil

Unveil

This USED to be a good game, but now it crashes on start-up and is no longer playable. It has been this way for about a year. I posted on the community hub talking about it, but nothing. Zip Zilch, Nada. No Solutions are offered.

Have the developers abandoned this game? It certainly seems like it, and while I’ve read that the engine they were using has some issues and that is why they cannot fix it, transferring it to a usable engine seems off the table as well. If I was a computer programmer or computer technician, perhaps I would try and fix the problem myself, but I am not and I should not have to be in order to play the game.

Wow. Maybe it’s just the hype, but I love this game. Really. I mean, it’s obviously uncomplete, there’s a lot to do, but even in this initial state, it shines like a jewel.

It’s easy to play, so you don’t have to fight with the controls (although I usually click Z instead of X and viceversa). Plus, it’s pretty, if you like that kind of graphics, and that, in my opinion increible, music.

But more important, it works. No weird physics, no super-fast dehydration rate… You actually can stop for a second, and enjoy… well, whatever you want. And it’s funny! For almost everyone who buys it! Because you wouldn’t buy a game you dislike, would you?

Cubicle Quest

Cubicle Quest

My playtime: 23:30:28 (based on in-game clock).

Developer Response: Never.

Intro

Cubicle Quest is a turn based RPG Maker game which combines itself with real life concepts. You just graduated from college with tons of debt, mainly college loan, and you’ll have to do anything to pay them off and succeed in life. You can get married, fight tons of internal and external conflicts which are wrapped as monsters, and so on. This game reminds me with Harvest Moon with its non linear timeline in real life setting.

Real player with 48.1 hrs in game

What an ingenious game! Start as a young adult with debts up the yin-yang and a low paying job. But you can change all that by leveling and destroying those horrible debt monsters. (Man, I wish you could do that in real life).

Cubicle Quest has many unique aspects. You begin as the ruler of your own kingdom. The Debt Army is outside your castle and threatening to destroy everything so you’ve got your work cut out for you. As I’ve already stated, you begin with a low paying job and everytime you sleep in your bed in the castle, a month advances and you receive your salary - minus many expenses. Rent, food, utilities, entertainment, etc. - all these things eat away your money. However, in the basement of your castle, all these expenses are manifested as monsters that you can defeat to either eliminate or lower their cost.

Moonstone Tavern - A Fantasy Tavern Sim!

Moonstone Tavern - A Fantasy Tavern Sim!

Where to start… Well, first off, I got this game for free to play, enjoy and do Let’s Plays of. When I first started, I started with out a class, which in all honesty, was funny. Other than that, starting out, things worked great! Tutorial was pretty straight forward, (im just an idiot at times XD ), Things start off easy, getting customers and making food and all that. I like how you have to manage things, like making sure you have money to pay any employees you hire, cleaning up sick guests messes, the diversity of the races you have in your Tavern, etc.

Real player with 36.4 hrs in game

Moonstone Tavern is a combination of a city builder (or tavern in this case) and an ARPG, similar to Pokemon Mystery Dungeon type games, but in real time and focused on the development of the tavern, which then adds stat bonuses to your character and extra party members. It has both a main quest line and repeatable quests of various difficulty that strengthen the main character in different ways.

Pros -

Lots of depth to developing the tavern

Enemies are fairly difficult to start

Marriage, familiar system, and hired heroes for a fairly large party (main character + 7 others that I know of)

Our Love Will Grow

Our Love Will Grow

If you’re looking for a farming/dating/life sim you’re better off just investing in one of the many many MANY Harvest Moon or Rune Factory games. You’ll get better game play, more interesting characters/story and a more rewarding experience.

However, if you want a simpler, bare bones Harvest Moon-esque experience, I’d reccomend this game. It pretty much IS Harvest Moon, only much less in depth and with faster progression. It’s fine, it’s just nothing special and at times feels a bit hollow.

Pros:

Real player with 25.6 hrs in game

Our Love Will Grow is a fun little Harvest Moon clone that will have you growing crops, buying farm animals, training your dog, marrying a townsgirl, and eventually having a kid. It’s a very minimalistic game, with the time limit being mostly negligible and without there being any seasons in the game. Despite this, it still remains fun. It’s nice upgrading your tools and unlocking new crop seeds you can buy. There is a good bit to explore and you progress through the caves as you get better tools.

The Lost Art of Innkeeping

The Lost Art of Innkeeping

My plea for good indie adventures with peaceful exploration and point & click controls* has been heard!

This one combines exploration, combat-free quests, funny NPCs and a mysterious backstory with simulation/management mechanics to let you fix up and develop an Inn (as the name would suggest). There are no elaborate character studies or anything particularly “deep”, it’s all lighthearted and relaxing.

TL;DR: I’d say if you can stand RPG Maker aesthetics for one more game (and can’t be convinced of the even more underappreciated Looking Back ) then let it be this one.

Real player with 21.4 hrs in game

It’s a great little RPG that doesn’t require combat or dungeon-crawling. Your choices matter in this game where you need to save a family manor. You can play in relaxed mode without time constraints or in the challenging mode where time is limited. It completely pulled me in and I had a great time playing it on a weekend when I downloaded it.

Even though I finished it, I came back to play it more because I like it so much! I almost didn’t buy it because I thought it would be boring, but it really pulled me in. It has a nice story and the atmosphere and music make it a relaxing experience. The only thing I didn’t like was that I wasn’t able to figure out how to leave the village to explore. I would really like to see this concept by the developer but maybe where you can go from town to town and help save struggling inns.
