Computer Tycoon

Computer Tycoon

This is the first review I’ve ever written, even though I have nearly 100 games in my library, so that should tell you something just there. Computer Tycoon is easily one of the greatest tycoon games I have ever tried, right up there with Game Dev Tycoon and Automation (might’ve got the name wrong). It is addictive, and my first 10 minutes of playing it turned into hours upon hours of doing so. For sure worth the price! You get a WHOLE lot of gameplay, and I haven’t even tried hard mode yet. Everything is nearly completely customizable and it is just overall amazing. Some aspects could use some work, though, such as a slow lategame. When you get near 2010, and really 2000s in general, the game really takes a hit. Demand is FAR more than you could ever produce (I mean, you could, but repeating the same process of buying sites, upgrading factories, upgrading recreation, repeat, gets REALLY boring and almost made me stop playing), research gets really slow as in you don’t really have anything to research lategame. For me, it just ran out for a while. Which REALLY made the research department useless, so that is a definite con. Competitors seem to research everything much quicker, and receive an unfair advantage even though you have the best computer on the market PLUS its cheap, and yet they still have the entire world in their color. If there was a way to mass-buy land or mass-produce sites, or to add more factory upgrades, it would make things much better. Again, competitors obviously don’t face this issue and complete everything instantly. At least, that is how it is currently working for me.

After playing it for hours and as a tycoon-games fan, I think this review would be usefull for both the players and the developer(s).

A good, well-balanced Computer Business tycoon game. It’s main focus is computer parts and models, rather than Sims-style city building, which is what many Comp-tycoon players look for.

There are several pros and cons of this game and it is still in alpha-stage; which I hope will result in a batter, near flawless game.

Pros: Vast range of computer parts from memory units to mother boards. Rather than popping computer products, in this game you built your own computer to sell on the market. That way, there are endless possibilities from selling high-end computers to Celeron-type low-end ones; and maintaining classic Home Computer series. During the game, you’d have many available components to choose from. I named my graphic cards as Burnout 100, 109, 330 etc. Quite fun.

Capitalism 2

Capitalism 2

Pretty fun to master, but somewhat tedious once you’ve mastered it. This game gives you a few million dollars and 1 to 4 cities and tells you to go out and become a billionaire. You can build department stores to import better goods, driving out local business and taking all the profit for yourself. You can research powerful CPUs and conquer the computer industry. You can even take out a gigantic loan to buy up a gold deposit, then use it to build jewellery and fleece every happy couple out of a few grand in exchange for rings. There’s a lot of fun in managing all the aspects of making goods and selling them for profit, whether it be researching or training in order to get higher quality goods, or spending massively on advertisements so your low quality goods get bought anyway. But for all that the game gets a bit tedious towards the end and I’d like to note some things that you really should be aware of before you buy.

It’s bit old simulation game armed with realistic economy structure and standard of early 2000.

Like every simulation games “Cap 2” is easy to learn, but harder to master.

You can play in reduced retro resoltuion in 4:3 aspect ratio.

You can begin as retailer, farmer, mine operator, factory manager, researcher, day trader, etc. you will eventually combine everything you can to become most successful and richest character in your sandbox game.

There are various product categories you can grow, process, produce or mine, e.g. Leather Jacket requires a factory( farm(Cotton - Textil), farm(Leather)). Every product have their necessity (food high, luxury low) so producing and selling foods in reasonable price is one of survival idea in the beginning of harder difficulty.

TransOcean 2: Rivals

Triggerwarning: (this will be a ranting first impression review)

TL:DR version at the bottom. (playtime is not reflective of actual playtime. I left the game running with computer on for nearly 400hours)

My oh my. Deck13 along with publisher Astragon Entertainment, what is this and did you listen at all to your fanbase?

I don’t even know where to begin, I clearly remember a dialogue about what the fans wanted for the follow-up and did you collectively decide to do the opposite of what they wanted in about every way imagineable?

I’m a fan of tycoon games, and I really like the idea of one based on the shipping industry. (I also played Ports of Call back in the day.) TransOcean 2 looks good and runs well but I can’t recommend it for the following 2 reasons: 1) Lack of gameplay balance and 2) lack of gameplay depth. The following focusses on single player modes only as I’m not into MP. (A word on that later)

There is a ‘campaign’. It’s basically a tutorial that delivers what scant details there are to know about TO2 in an unnecessarily drawn out, grindy way. And it’s set to a painfully corny story. (Why does this game even need a story?)

Divine Business: Fantasy Trading Simulator

Divine Business: Fantasy Trading Simulator

Fantasy world inhabited by many various races with their own upheavals and deities to invoke in those hard times when every single soul suddenly starts to be religious - for somebody it’s nothing more than an office. For Demigods we’ve already heard about, to be precise. As soon as it dawns, they start to deal with this supernatural stuff - you know, set the whole village on fire or summon a huge rain cloud to put it out.

This game is like doing plenty of work instead of your boss, but this time he’s the God. Every screwd up deadline literally means DOOM for one or several races. Your colleagues (actually, Demigods themselves) in a bad mood can angrily sneeze on mortals' harvest with pest or shake them up with frenetic earthquake. And quite often it’s you to cope with consequences of their actions, intentional or reckless ones. The conception of how it feels to be a deity and what it takes to become “the employee of the month” seems extraordinary and fascinating to me. You’re kind of a manager from the Abyss, after all.

Hey guys. I waited for this game a quite time. After playing it I can say, that I expected a little more novel-like part in it. But mostly I’m satisfied with it. Keep it up. Will be waiting for more content.

Epic Car Factory

TL;DR: if you arent sure, this game is not for you. Go play “My summer car” or “Automation” or even old TTD or Car Tycoon. If you really liked the latter two, feel free to read forward.

I kinda like this game. But after next weekend i probaly would not pick this up again.

This game is for special kind of people. People who have the background of oldschool tycoon games and have some nostalgia over them. And a subsection of those people, who would like some braindead activity with their memories, bottle of rum and just want to “switch off” for an evening from actual thinking.

It’s a fun game that doesn’t last long and unfortunately doesn’t have much replayable value. It lacks in game development, and by that I mean the features and aspect of the game don’t evolve as you play. The difficulty curves downwards and once you’ve got a few decent cars money becomes no issue. You’re pretty much just doing the same thing but with different parts and more staff. That’s not a bad thing given how short the game is; it does what it says on the tin and it provides a fun experience for 6 - 8 hours. ideally I’d have like to see factory upgrades offer different experiences, maybe being able to specialise in certain ‘brands’ or have a separate R&D department in order to multi-task, perhaps even more interaction with competitors.

Airline Tycoon 2

Airline Tycoon 2

Okay Let’s get real here .

If you haven’t played this game for I’d say 20 hours you don’t know S**t about it.

This game is about running a business and as such is darn complicated and for some, that isn’t all that much fun.

You as owner/manager are subject to intense time constrains, and must make many decisions with limited information.

You have poor understanding of you profit margins until you hire very expensive consultants.

You are sabotaged by the completion whom you also sabotage them and pay a firm to be protected from such.

Real player with 353.0 hrs in game

I was really excited about the sequel of Airline Tycoon. So I’ve bought this game a long time ago. And I don’t know where to start. The nice thing about the first Airline Tycoon was the nice balance between realism (stats) and fun (dialogs). You got real planes with real stats, the flight managing was fast and intuitive. But AT2 is the opposite of this. You have a little ammout of fictional planes (yes, they are customisable, that’s a nice feature, but that’s all). All of them are really ugly. Dialogs are boring and you can feel the failed attepts to make a joke.

ELECTRONIC STOCK TRADING SYSTEM

ELECTRONIC STOCK TRADING SYSTEM

FINALLY a stock trading game that actually works. I have tried a dozen of these types of games and this is the only one that works correctly. That is why I had post here. I have been playing it for over a month now and I have had no problems with it. Most like real world game so far. A great learning tool. I did have an issue when I tried to start the game for the first time, but support got it working for me pretty quick and easy. The instructions to resolve the issue were integrated into the game! Top notch game and customer support.

Real player with 64.0 hrs in game

Thumbs up for fast and extremely helpful support. If the game starts with an error they will give you a quick fix.

The game is relatively simple. You choose your start amount, look through some stocks conveniently named in similar fashion to real companies and read the scrolling news as you “end your turn” and continue to buy and sell accordingly. No tutorial so navigating the beginning portions may take a 5-10 minutes to look through all the options. With only 20 mins played I haven’t gotten into the subtleties just yet. However I was very impressed by the customer service!

Gas Station Simulator

Gas Station Simulator

The game idea itself is great, however it needs A LOT of polishing to be considered playable / fully released.

Game Breaking Bugs:

  • If you start playing, the performance is OK, however the more you play, it gets slower and more demanding on resources on your computer, perhaps you guys have a memory leak somewhere, or something. It’s not normal to start with ~100 fps and be on ~30 after a hour of gameplay.

  • You should be able to sell your stuff, if you steal from cars A LOT, it all adds up to the warehouse making tight space for your deliveries. If you don’t want to allow us to sell the things, then at least make it that we can throw them in trash or something.
