Crime Cities

Crime Cities

One of the forgotten ‘hidden gems’ from the 2000s.

It’s a fun, atmospheric, dystopian cyberpunk game of very high quality.

I’d say open-world. Somehow reminds me of GTA2 with 3 large maps with missions and some freedom for exploring. But the action itself is something like Descent or Forsaken, with the auto-leveling feature if you not the biggest fan of orienting in all the axis of 3D space.

I recommend checking it out if you like classic games.

It also works out-of-the-box on modern systems, and it’s OpenGL :)

Only if you like pointlessly difficult games. The factions are built up as tough guys and that’s just what they are. The story is a bit non existent though. Good for a bit of fun but gameplay isn’t so deep, buy weapons and shields, kill other flying cars, repeat. Oh, and at least a handful of missions you can’t complete, they either have no end or you always fail no matter what…that sucks.

A mission where you are on a scientific expedition, you are locked without an objective and have to quit or reload.

Pretty interesting game with a lot of unique puzzles. It’s not too easy to solve and sometimes I was stuck trying to find solution. But it’s not super hard and anyone can enjoy the game without spending hours on puzzles. I loved the graphics - clean, well-made and it’s sci-fi themed!

Spinnortality | cyberpunk management sim

Spinnortality | cyberpunk management sim

This game oozes potential. From its premise to its simplistic, yet surprisingly deep gameplay, Spinnortality is great. However, just like its name, there is something off about it the deeper you get, until you realize this game is nigh unbeatable…and not in that good, strategy game way; but instead, due to frustrating bugs, poorly thought out mechanics, and unbalanced agenda trees that make 2 out of the 4 victory possibilities impossible beyond easy mode (even then it’s a pain).

RNG is terrible and you WILL fail with anything in the game under a 90% success chance. You will regularly fail anyway. I’ve played 2 separate games where a shuttle launch to the moon with a 99% success chance failed.

I have to say, those first few playthroughs are pretty great.

This is an enjoyable cyberpunk management game that I think hits just the right level of difficulty. I bought this game at launch, and since then there have been a few updates which have fixed a handful of bugs and have added some new mechanics which balance the game a little better.

In Spinnortality, you are the CEO of a friendly social media company which rapidly becomes not so friendly. In the game, you have two major goals. The first goal is to achieve global domination, which is done by completing tasks set before you by your board of directors to earn points which can be spent in several policy tracks; you win by maxing out one type of policy track and meeting some global conditions along with it. The second goal is to remain alive and employed long enough to do this.

Cyberia

Cyberia

A great classic which aged terribly.

This Cyberpunk themed Action/Adventure augments rail shooter action scenes with adventure exploration and puzzle elements for an enjoyable, albeit all too brief experience. An odd feature is the game having 2 difficulty settings, one for “Arcade” and the other for “Puzzle”, both scaling from 1-3. One can not set both difficulties to “1” as the game informs you would be “too easy”.

Highs:

A cheap classic.

A fine historical blast from the past.

Fun rail shooter bits.

Real player with 6.0 hrs in game

It’s EXACTLY as I remember, not better or worse – I suppose it deserves to be called a graphic adventure game with action scenes. The voice acting is cheesy, the 1990s CGI looks hideous and plastic, you probably die a lot and…

There’s this element of masochism involved in playing Cyberia – take one late puzzle disguised as an action sequence, for instance, where you have to pick the right doors and eliminate enemies in the rooms so you can proceed. Pick a wrong door and you get a video clip of you getting shot in the back. Repeat a couple of times. For some reason, you don’t get a save point nearer to it, so you have to rinse and repeat through a different puzzle as well.
