Farming Simulator 22

Farming Simulator 22

Warning! Fanboy (and proud of it) review ahead.

This being the 5th version of Farming Simulator I have played; it’s pretty safe to say that I am a fan of it. There is no doubt. I will start by saying that this is literally the same game as FS19. As it is, FS17-15-13. A common complaint from some people for reasons that I do not understand. What makes our favorite games, our favorite game? If they turned it into a tractor demolision derby; would it be the same game we love now? While that does sound fun; it is not what we all originally bought the game for. We buy (and then rebuy) these games because there is something about them that we like. Why has the GTA Franchise been so wildly popular all of these years? For the reason I pointed out above. Standard Psychology aside…

(Summary at bottom)

NOT a reskinned FS19. I have about 650 hours on FS19 and I can most certainly say this is much better in many ways, and many things have been completely overhauled.

  • Sounds have had a major overhaul, makes the game feel more realistic and immersive.

  • More placeables than ever, including sheds with working doors, refuel stations (diesel, methane, and electric), seed & fert tanks, etc. Fences too, great addon, easy to use.

  • Many many new brands, and more tire brand options. Also license plates for equipment and vehicles.

This is a neat game! The style of the ship and the ship manual are super flavorful and I had fun messing around with it. The one problem is that it’s a bit repetitive: most of the hazards you can see are handled in very similar ways and it feels like once you’ve played it for a few hours you could start to memorize most of the steps. Definitely once your Mission Control has gotten a feel for how to navigate the manual the missions become pretty easy.

That said, the aesthetic is great and if it interests you I definitely recommend it. Just know that you won’t be getting too much playtime out of it unless you regularly invite new players to be in charge of Mission Control. I’d love to see the game expanded in some way with either dual hazards or more variation in how you solve problems, but it’s a fun package as it is and I plan to keep showing it to friends.

As someone that has played a lot of Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, and ALSO someone that loves all the movies/series about various NASA space programs, this game seemed right up my alley.

So my friends and I got into character and decided that we didn’t need to preview the manual, we just jumped in. Then we died, and died, and died again. Since it’s the first day the game came out, we couldn’t even look to search engines for help guides. Eventually, though, we read the manual correctly and things improved. (And by ‘we’ I mean my friend did. I’m still very confused.) – Hint, page 57 is a good page.

Streamed this game for about an hour, here are my thoughts.

The Phoesion engine makes the game look amazing. The physics are well done and fairly fluid and the ping-pong effect you can go through when you get hit makes for interesting moments. The gameplay is minimalistic and easy to figure out. Has lots of options that open up pre-game so you can adjust it for your particular system. The ladder-style leaderboard gives a competitive feel. Plus it’s a game you can play for a few minutes or several hours if you choose.

The gameplay is fun when you get the hang of the controls, and you can definitely get really good at this. Multiplayer with friends is a lot of fun. There isn’t much to do though, and I don’t think the developer is planning to update the game.

“What is Santa´s Rampage?

“Well, let me tell you children… It is a game about cleaning….. Sounds boring? Nooo… this is a game about cleaning up blood, viscera, bodyparts and other nasty stuff…. Did i get ure attention?!

GOOD, now listen!”

The Story

Santas had enough after year after year handing out presents to little ungrateful children (Yeah im talking about YOU!), and blows a serious gasket and goes on a rampage and kills everybody in santas workshop, and vanishes without a trace.

First of all, this is not a long game. It is, however, entertaining for the content it does have. If you’ve ever heard the Weird Al song “The Night Santa Went Crazy,” this videogame explores the aftermath.

Based on the Viscera Cleanup Detail series of games, instead of being set in a typical video game world (“Space Janitors!"), this one takes place in Santa’s Workshop, where you play the one elf who appears to have stayed home the night before. The rest your fellow toymakers can be found strewn about the workshop in various pieces. Santa’s Rampage has left no survivors, (no, not even the reindeer), and it’s up to you to clean up the mess.

Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator

Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator

Probably the most fun game I know of to play with a group of friends in a lan. Grab some drinks set up the computers and kill yourself with your own nuke. The positions in the game fit a medium sized group of friends well.

Captain: semi tactical and slightly too tipsy leader man

Weapons officer: Guy that wants to blow stuff up and is constantly hoping you’ll authorize nukes

Helm: Probably rides a kawasaki brand motorcycle irl, will ram your ship into the enemy just as your nuke explodes

Comms: Put either the drunkest person here or the biggest memelord. They get to insult enemy ships and tell you their weaknesses. This person is also in charge of demanding every nearby station builds you more nukes (girlfriend mode)

Some friends and myself picked this game up for a small lan party we were going to do over New Year’s. We were all a bit ambivalent about IF this game would be fun. Disparaging comments were made about the graphics. We even argued about the merits of buying from Steam or directly from the game creator.

So some time in the morning of Jan 1, we booted up the game and muddled our way through getting a server up. We didn’t bother with the manual (a few of us did while we tried to figure out how to get our main screen turn on) since things appeared fairly straighforward. We settled down to our command stations, and since I didn’t scramble for a specific station I was pegged as the captain. We set the game on the lowest difficulty settings and said “It’s only 6 bucks. Not too much of a loss.”

Camping Simulator: The Squad

Camping Simulator: The Squad

I’ve only played the Classic Forest so far and content wasn’t that bad, but in it’s current build it is short on content. But hell, that $5 early access experience met my minimal needs for that price. Now, will the Dev’s stay on top of the development of the game or will they just take what monies they get and run, we’ll see., Took a bit to figure out how all of the cooking stuff worked but towards the end of the content I figured out the Mocha Pot was pretty OP, just add wood to the fire to extend it’s cook time. It was only the Chopped Wood I couldn’t figure out a usage for. Deciding on your load out for the backpack at the start is an nice concept for a survival game but once you play it a few times you learn whats not needed in the load out as the game will provide those items for you as loot found in the game. Overall I’ll give it a 6 out of 10 at this time in it’s current development state.

Pretty fun game when in good company! While the content is still quite bare-bones and the game play is not the most complex, it definitely scratches the itch of being able to spend time with your pals in a relaxed manner on an online server. It is what it is and it does it well- a camping simulator with the squad! Would recommend this to individuals who just want to have a chill game session with their gang and catch up with each other over chat; i would say playing over discord is a fun must.

Game time right now is about 2 hours or so while following the tutorial (Having the ability to turn this off and free range the world would be a nice addition) but I am sure the Devs have more coming and I am really excited about what else they have in store for us.

Pixamal Zoo

Pixamal Zoo

I really enjoyed playing this game. It’s quite addictive and a clever concept. There are lots of things to do which forms part of the day at the zoo. The animals look cute and there is a large range to choose from as the game progresses.

Real player with 13.7 hrs in game

Summary: Despite being very early in development, Pixamal Zoo offers a fun and charming world filled with characters who each have a tonne of personality while giving the player a laid back and enjoyable management experience that is made with nothing more than fun and laughter in mind.

A full detailed video preview can be viewed here:

Plot:

The plot is actually really well done and written. The concept may sound silly and far fetched, but with how the game, the characters and the general whole idea of Pixamal Zoo is designed, it is clear that it is purpose made choice. Pixamal Zoo is designed to be a silly game and the plot and its characters are equally as so.

Wolfpack

Wolfpack

As a sub sim enthusiast since 688 attack sub (1989) I can tell you that Wolfpack is the next sub sim you’re going to want to play and will probably continue to play for years to come. This game is truly a profound experience!

To those with some familiarity with this genre you can expect this title to fall on the opposite end of the spectrum that the recent release UBOAT is on. Uboat is a crew management simulation. For perspective, Silent Hunter III would fall somewhere in the middle, as there is time compression and crew management but the player orders their crew to perform the individual functions on the boat.

Real player with 266.1 hrs in game

First off, if you are looking for single player experience, go back and grab yourself SH5 and The wolves of steel modpack.

That is, in my opinion, the best submarine simulator there is.

That being said, Wolfpack has unique hands on approach with controlling the boat itself, and it really is the best aspect of the whole game, that and the ability to play with other people.

After all the good things (two things) to say about this “sim”, I would NOT recommend the game for anybody. Not on the regular price at the very least. The game is really buggy (graphic glitches, sound bugs of massive forest fire starting on your boat, being able to drive too deep with diesel engines running, AI only caring about the boat that has done the most damage. to mention a few)
