Battlefield™ 2042

Battlefield™ 2042

I spent $90 and didn’t refund to save you wasting your money.

The good:

  • Portal might be good some day.

The bad:

  • No classes

  • Wide open maps with no cover

  • Maps are too big and turns the game into a running simulator

  • No scoreboard

  • No changing squads

  • No changing teams

  • Awful hit registration

  • Awful random bullet deviation

  • Broken hover tank that can scale walls and harder to blow up than a tank.

  • Bug that won’t allow you to re-deploy when you die. You have to leave the game.

  • Bug that will show your team mates as enemies and they can knife you to death

This game delivered on none of the promises that it made, do not buy it.

I have played every Battlefield game since Battlefield 3, and this is by far the most disappointing. Dice made gigantic promises for this game about a return to form and classic Battlefield moments and gameplay, but completely failed to deliver on anything they had promised. The lack of weapons in the game is perhaps the most disappointing part about it in my opinion. There are a grand total of 22 primary weapons in this game at launch. this game has been out for a week and some people have already unlocked every single gun. Most of the weapons are also wiiiildly unbalanced. If you buy this game today you will find yourself being killed by the PP-29 sub machine gun for 60% of your deaths to infantry. The other 30% will be the SVK designated marksman rifle. This is because these are the only weapons that actually feel usable. Assault rifles suffer in close range because of their abysmally low rate of fire and lack of kill potential. At range the combination of excessive recoil and the game’s “bullet spread” mechanic makes them unusable. While the starting LMG is moderately okay, it also has similar problems to the Assault rifles. The PKP lmg has an insanely high recoil that makes it exceptionally worthless when not in bipod mode, when in bipod mode its performance is still forgettable and you’ll find yourself not being able to defeat sub machine guns in ranged combat.

Ravenfield

Ravenfield

Ravenfield is a solo FPS which I’ve spent definitely more than 700 hours, at least another 100 hours, just on cracked and pirated versions airdropped in school hallways and played in lunchtimes and intervals. I bought the game to support the creator, and I’d reckon it’s paid off. Even if it’s vanilla selection is selective and small, the modding community is both active and easy to enter. I even did some myself, though I’m a rookie. If you’re looking for a multiplayer game, don’t bother. Just enjoy the solo game.

Rise of Liberty

Rise of Liberty

I recommend this to anyone who enjoys the following:

-Line/Formation Combat

-Bayonet Charges

-Using various commands and tactics to divert attention from the main attack (taking 30 troops around the side of a position and hitting it with constant suppresive fire to distract the defenders from the main assault)

-Calvary Charges and Tactics

-Unlockable weapons

-Battles which can easily be turned in anyones favor if tactics are used.

-Range guessing

-Synchronized firing and reloading

-Single Player FPS-Strategy games (like Ravenfield)

I think we can best praise this game by going through some of the quality, in-depth negative reviews it has gotten.

First up, we have “Wait for a MASSIVE update to the game, or a drop/sale price.” - 0.6 hours played.

Wow. I mean, what? Why? What is the game lacking that makes it so unplayable or not worth the price? The A.I is decent, the battles are epic, and the dev has shown a lot of passion towards improving things even more. I mean… it’s kinda misleading. I can assure whoever is reading this that Rise of Liberty is very much playable, it is very functional, and it has enough content to warrant its price.

Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30™

Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30™

Pros:

  • Classic and enjoyable to play (by overall).

  • Good storytelling and interesting characters.

  • Many examples of how horrifying the war is.

  • Great Normandy landscape and environments.

  • Sound recording and battle cries.

  • Not so complicated commanding function.

  • Compatible with few mods on the internet.

Cons:

  • Old game mechanics, slow running and you can’t even sprint, and AIs move very slow.

  • Horrible checkpoint management and sometimes enemy can shoot you through your cover.

  • Screwed up grenade and Panzerfaust blast radius, and somewhat pitiful grenade’s throwing range.

I am SO glad to see you guys! - Jospeh Hartsock, Brothers In Arms Road To Hill 30

THE GOOD

Authentic environments range from visually stunning (In the sense of scope) to downright ugly. Some of the character animations are a bit awkward, and one particular glitch sent a German rifleman across the map where he promptly caught himself on barbed wire and ruined the mood. The textures could be worse, but that’s like saying that Duke Nukem Flopped could’ve been more hyped. For 2005, graphically speaking, it’s mediocre. Not great, not terrible, not a benchmark for games and not something you’ll want to recycle for toilet paper. While being failry realistic, it suffers from having people die very quickly, which can be frustrating when you need that person for a particular job, as shown perfectly by Objective XYZ. The multiplayer has two players who each command two teams to try and eliminate the other team. While not a straight up shooter, it would be nice to see some other objectives rather than just kill everyone else. This is BiA, not Quake.

Days of War: Definitive Edition

Days of War: Definitive Edition

I had to change my review of this game after the recent changes made to it that came as a surprise and a clear indication and confirmation of a lot of things I have been noticing lately with Days of War and it’s developers.

When I backed this game on Kickstarter in March 2016, I was immediately drawn to it because of what I saw. I was 90% their target audience on who they where trying to attract. An old DODS player, not afraid of hard recoil and fast paced fluid play-style. However, with a hitch. I was a DODS Realism player so what attracted me the most was seeing every weapon in Days of War having a ADS mechanic.

BEWARE!!

This game is absolutely and completely dead!

–-

Not much of a recommendation - quite the contrary !!

— The game that was released 30. January —-

Everything below still stick, but now there are also levels and bots… but it’s still clunky and fugly and broken in a lot of ways in regards to achievements, guns and hit registry. It’s nice with the addition of new guns that you can unlock, but the guns are really not much of an improvement, the level requirements are nuts, and it’s also really annoying that if you don’t stay for the end-game summary your progress is lost in every way - I can understand that as a way to motivate people to keep playing, which would be perfectly fine IF it was actually a nice game.

Escape the City

Escape the City

Author’s note: This review was written while playing Escape the City on a computer that doesn’t meet the RAM requirement as per the store page’s requirements and the graphics set the minimum quality. A slightly revised review (with superior quality screenshots) is expected in January.

Overview

A first-person shooter with unlimited continues and fully regenerating health? This is a game even an FPS n00b like ol' Il Pallino managed to play to completion! Without any sort of backstory, the player wakes up in an apartment and takes a train into town. Once in town, the main character arrives at a warehouse full of shipping containers guarded by a hostile shotgun-armed soldier who the player will kill with either a pistol or their bare hands, and eventually makes it to some extra ammunition and a shotgun. (It’s to be assumed that the player took the shotgun from the dead soldier originally encountered.) The player fights their way through six levels of various settings with the last two settings being in rural areas differentiated by the amount of daylight, and once the player (easily) makes it to the end, that’s all folks!

Really interesting and unique game, has a similar vibe to it like HaDe Games' “Combat Force”, but some parts also reminded me of Half-Life quite a lot. As usual for HaDe Games, this game offers a very special experience and offers a couple hours of content for just a few dollars. There are some minor issues, especially with the AI, but this doesn’t impact gameplay too much. I believe the developer is really passionate about this game and surely future updates will make this game feel fully polished and offer further content.

PolySquad Review

First of all, I have to mention that the game looks really nice. The map and character designs are good, but they need to improve their weapon designs a bit. Since it is an early access game yet I think it can improve better than many games. Let me talk about the good aspects of gameplay:

- Level System (from 1 to 78): I think it is really important to have a level system in online games. Because the player will try to move himself to a higher level and will play more.

For the first time, I am happy that we have seen a quality game from a Turkish company. To explain the game briefly and briefly, the game can be called a mini battlefield. Although the game is really fun, it would be better if the tanks and helicopters with many players have a slightly higher health. I wish success to the game and the developers.

TR
