MUTATION PHASE

MUTATION PHASE

Mutation Phase is a very basic FPS with some RPG elements that seems to be more fluff than substance. It starts off promising with a story about how the zombies came to be and your character needs to collect weapons and find a way of communication to destroy them. There are 6 levels that unfortunately never really pick up after the first level.

The gameplay is very repetitive and boring, which can be summed up like this: move along the predefined path and listen for footsteps, which indicate another zombie mob is on their way. Take out the zombies, search their bodies for health and ammo, and reload weapons/restore health. Rinse and repeat. The first few levels are the same 3 zombie enemy types and then the last few levels introduce a new bigger zombie into the mob.

This game was surprisingly solid. Not very long, but I thought it was pretty challenging. It had plenty of monsters sneak up on me, and the enemy models are 100% the highlight of this game. I got this one off Indie Gala for pretty cheap. Not really into survival challenges, but the game adds that as an extra reason to play after you finish the “story” mode. I look forward to seeing more from these developers.

Need a puzzling game to play, but you don’t have time for a large scale, AAA title? This game is for you. The puzzles in this title will get your brain working, requiring you to sift through clues in emails and files as well as deciphering codes left by the inhabitants of this abandoned station. You’ll have to carefully manage your time and resources between crafting items to keep your life support stable, and fending off alien intruders.

Pros:

  • Good, satisfying puzzles

  • Pixelated visuals and simple geometry are a nice change from the realism of today’s games

This is an interesting game. It started off a bit flat, seemed like straight out time/resource management. You split your time between telling drones to go auto-gather resources, rushing around to build stuff, and then occasionally going outside to shoot bugs before they get inside and cause problems.

But there’s a surprising amount of logs and emails and info you can look through, and the offscreen support character makes her own little comments on what you’re reading.

All while mutant alien bugs eat through the walls to come get you.

Troll Hunter VR

Troll Hunter VR

Troll Hunter is a VR action-adventure about hunting terrifying trolls in ’80s Scandinavia using your wit, shotgun, and DIY devices. Explore nordic nature, study trolls, hide and attack to protect civilians.

In this world, trolls are not a myth, they are close and very real, and your goal is to hunt them. You have to locate the troll, learn more about its surroundings and habits, and then lure them into the trap. Of course, in case things go wrong, you can always rely on your trusty weapons.

I should have check the only games he released all in a few months…..I don’t think his games should remain on Steam,This game was clearly made in under a few hours and just used pre-made assists from unreal. There should be at least a standard to hit before it can be sold on steam.

Receiver 2

I recommend this game, albeit it has some issues. I’ll elaborate them further when appropriate.

First of all, I haven’t finished the game yet. I’m currently at level 3 “sleepwalker”. Which is due to how many times had to re-level up. I’ll come to this later.

This game isn’t made for your comfort:

While I say that, it isn’t a bad thing. It’s clear that devs made it this way to relay some points. But as you learn to play this game it might lead to some frustration, I just wanted to put that out there.

I played the original Receiver a while back and wrote a review of it, recommending it to gun aficionados who were looking for a game focused on realistic guns rather than gamey guns. That point stands firm in the sequel. If you want to adjust for failure to eject and double feed malfunctions after manually loading your magazine and chambering a round, you’ll love Receiver 2.

–———————————————————

Receiver 2 claims to simulate every moving part in the gun. They certainly did get them all in the model. Every gun is designed to match manufacturer specifications, flaws included. Take a fall with a Colt Single Action Army and you risk it firing if the hammer wasn’t at half-c0 ck. (I love censorship).

A short but thoroughly enjoyable indie storytelling experience!

I wasn’t sure I’d get through it in one sitting, but I found the ambiance very compelling and surprisingly tasteful in all its lighting and sound effects, so I couldn’t stop until the end. Overall, the writing does a great job at introducing what ended up being a rather intriguing story, so it was easy to follow along even without any voice acting.

Very promising. Looking forward for future titles from these devs!

The ambience of this game is through the roof!

Sound quality is good, it really sells you the mystery and the thriller inducing chills imo.

Now i will be describing some of the good and some of the problems and i don’t want to spoil things so play the game 1st then read the next part.

! Some pros:

! * I already told this but the ambience this game delivers is really good from the sound quality and overall gloomy and dark atmosphere really gives this game a boost.* I love detective/mystery games and if there’s a slight thriller/horror vibe to it i love it even more (e.g of games i love detective wise (sam and max, monkey island, the sinking city, wolf among us, the long reach, the last door series, disco elisium etc)).

Into the Radius VR

Into the Radius VR

I play this title with a Quest 2 via Air Link.

Version 2.0.6

Into the Radius (ITR) is a VR game that has shown a lot of promise over the course of its development. It is clearly well loved by its Developers. It has some atmosphere, when it isn’t hidden beneath a sphere of fog, whose radius is ironically centered on you. Enemies equipped with firearms have teeth to them, enough to challenge you to look before you leap. In its best moments, ITR will immerse you in a small corner of an anomalous disaster and you will believe - for a moment - that you’re not just standing in a big empty room.

Real player with 99.5 hrs in game

One of the best VR Games your money can buy. Two for the price of one if you want to play the 1.0 version as well. Besides the few remaining bugs, which the devs aggressively resolve as we bring them up, Into the Radius is as close to perfection as you can get without being perfect. It could use more variety in the mission types and a much better ending, but honestly, by then, you have gotten so much value for your money by the time you get there, it feels like a small gripe.

Tight physics, gun mechanics (especially with the most recent changes), fun progression, and significant challenges at higher difficulty settings make this great value. If the thought of the flood of “Meta” 12-year olds screaming in your ear when you try to play Onward makes your skin crawl, download ITR, step into this world, and light yourself a virtual smoke, relax, and enjoy the beautiful but deadly silence.

Mad Devils

Mad Devils

I’ve had an awesome time playing Mad Devils so far! The plot is really interesting and I can’t wait to restart in Inferno Mode. My favourite characters are Chester and Harris so far, and the boss fights are brutal. If you’re a fan of Diablo 3 or Dark Souls, this game definitely scratches that itch. Haven’t hit any bugs so far. Just remember you can use your Blood Shards and XP points in the Pause Menu to upgrade your characters, it’s a lifesaver!

This indie developed game has very faded washed out graphics, repetitive dull combat, no mini-map to show where you are going, no way to rotate the camera, and frame rate issues as well. Camera movement is also sluggish and stuttery, most likely due to the crap Unity engine the game runs on. The game also flashes to the desktop briefly every time a new level is loaded. Your character also seems to get stuck on everything in your path and every level looks the same, taking place mostly in outdoor fields surrounded by lava. A similar game that is MUCH better is Victor Vran. I would much rather play Victor Vran than this game any day.

What started as what I thought would be a dumb meme of a game turned out to be a really fun experience. I really enjoyed what I played, and really hope the devs continue to update this more. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but with some polish and some gameplay tweaks, it could be a real AMAZING game. Hope to see it grow! Much love!
