Hero Team

Hero Team

Hero Team is a PVP 2D shooter with online and couch multiplayer, and modes inspired by the greatest classic shooters. It’s the spiritual sequel to the 2011 game Stick ‘Em Up 2, but with online play, super-tight controls, the speed cranked up to 11, and an abundance of maps, weapons, and upgrades.

Later this year Hero Team will be launching in Early Access.

What will be in the Early Access version?

  • online multiplayer with dedicated servers

  • local couch multiplayer for 2-4 players (with the option to play online together)

  • actual artwork by real-life artists instead of the basic-ass prototype art you see above

  • multiplayer modes inspired by the greatest multiplayer shooters, including:

    • bomb defusal

    • area control

    • team deathmatch

    • battle royale

  • a robust upgrade system with weapons and abilities that can be assembled in a multitude of combinations with meaningful game-changing effects

  • absolutely no pay-to-win ever: all upgrades are earned exclusively in-game

  • numerous characters which are customizable with free and premium paid cosmetic options

  • practice maps that are speedrunnable solo or co-op

  • all the quality of life features you’d expect like party support, private lobbies, and Discord integration (sorry that stuff isn’t ready for the Steam Game Festival build)

What’s coming after Early Access?

Regular drops of new maps, modes, characters, and upgrades to keep things minty fresh.

What’s the setting/lore?

It’s the mid-2040s, and these days the main threat in the world is IN Equity Inc. They started as a venture capital firm investing in exotic technology like human genome editing and hyperintelligence augmentation. When they got bored of the umpteenth ethics investigation against them, they went full supervillain and declared their offshore research base to be a sovereign “corporate state” under the ~benevolent~ leadership of the Board of Directors. Hero Team was formed as an elite international force to keep them in check, and are first on the scene whenever IN Equity are attempting to steal a nuclear reactor or executing a hostile takeover of a small nation.

Monument

Monument

Maybe my judgement is affected by playing too many terrible raycast engine maker games lately, but I don’t think this game deserves all the flack it’s getting in the reviews section here. Yes, it has problems, but for the price (especially on sale) it’s a decent classic Quake-wannabe FPS shooter.

The Good:

  • classic Quake-style gameplay (though not nearly as good as Quake itself obviously)

  • no ammo cap for any of the guns, unless it’s 999 or something which I’ve never reached

  • no weapon reloading, though some guns have recoil that gets worse the longer you hold down the fire button which is fine

Orbit Outlaws

Orbit Outlaws

Orbit Outlaws is an absolute blast! The combat is fun and engaging with just the right amount of challenge and chaos. The tanks and characters look great in and out of combat. There are multiple upgrade options that have me excited to keep playing and progressing. This game is a solid buy even before online multiplayer has been added. With online multiplayer, this will be a must have.

Cannot recommend this game till there are more choices in Weapons, chassis and pilots. A faster method of starting a co op match with same settings would be appreciated as well.

5/10

Pros:

Great graphics

Nice music

Engaging game play in local co op

Cons:

Lacks of choices in upgrades and mods

Mods go missing and are buggy to apply (edit: in the local co op mode )

Spawn of player 2 is out of playable area at times in specific maps ( in the blue zone)

Edit: Game crashes pretty often

Uncle Ted

Uncle Ted

Uncle Ted was enthusiastically reading his newspaper, when vicious thieves made their way into the house, and their accomplices fired at his house, stray bullets flew throughout the room, and the robbers had already stolen jewelry, but they did not take into account that Uncle Ted reads a newspaper about the supernatural abilities of average men age and their skill to fight off bullets!

Uncle Ted - A top-down logic game where the player dodges bullets and bounces them in the direction of enemies in order to kill them, when the player deals with all the enemies, the game is transferred to the next room of the house with new locations of objects.

Virtual Ricochet

Virtual Ricochet

What is the game where you lock yourself in a room to hit a ball really hard & hope it doesn’t hit you in the face? Racketball? It’s like that but with lazerbeams, laser guns & shooty drones in space.

You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/yNbJfuG5vGE

Virtual Ricochet is an interesting game as it has elements of your standard racketball game in VR mixed with a shooter. You teleport from floating platform to floating platform, dodge projectiles, return service on balls where you have to match color and shoot flying drones where you have to match the color.

You have a laser gun or scatter gun on one hand and a racket on the other. You can upgrade your weapons and your health. The game starts easy enough, then gets progressively harder as you have more floating platforms and more enemies.
