Darkest Depths
Darkest Depths is a brave project in the FPS rogue-like category, the untamed genre in modern gaming, which deserves as much attention as it can get, especially with mechanics that can make it stand out.
Being an old school FPS player that grew up with games like Quake I can tell you that for sure it’s inspired by those, but does it carry the true weight? Not really - of course it has its modern touches, which on the other hand can be beneficial and bring far more versatility in such a complex genre if done right. Darkest Depths is a project that’s being developed by a single developer and this didn’t change the fact that I tested numerous iterations, fixes, and changes during the past month - all of them improving the game significantly. This true dedication is what you need to expect from every EA game project out there.

For a TL:DR its in the spoiler
! An actual early access game thats good! A few minor bugs, But its early access.
Having played this early access game for a few hours I’ve made a solid decision on what I feel. I’ll edit my review as I play more.
Darkest depths is being developed with a solo developer crafting everything from the ground up it seems. The game is the very epitome of a promising and practical game within its genre (But not without its bugs which I’ll cover).

Now, I didn’t know games like this could be so genius in their setup and execution, but GTAG really does do this.
You can probably play the game for about 15 minutes before it crashes

2021 edit: Beat the game, pretty bizarre ending. If you are interested I highly reccomend struggling through the brutal unfforgiving gameplay to see the ending, its like talking to an alien like a real alien, undocumented. If youve seen the movie Memento i highly reccomend beating this game just for the end. The hardest level is level 2 easily, try and stock up as much AMMO AND HP as you can. Use the torpedos to kill bad guys through walls on that level and mash grenades while looking down n mashing jump on the next area. The rest you can figure out. Im interested in tlaking with the dev if he ever reads this..Awesome ending discussion in HELL

Nigel’s Journey : A Working Day
Nigel is a former French special forces soldier. When he returned home after combats, he decided to leave the army and find an ordinary job in an office. One day, an army of terrorists invaded his workplace. Nigel had therefore to resume service to teach these bastards a lesson and find a way out.
“I won’t let any of these parasites survive.”
Old fashioned FPS.
The episode 1 upholds the fundamentals of an old school FPS. Lots of action, lots of blood, lots of villains and no unnecessary stuff. There is no “timeout” when you play this game. Exaggerated and brutal violence that we like. But you won’t be able to rush if you want to avoid premature death. Be smart. Be lethal.
Don’t forget to use your brain.
Office buildings are a lot like labyrinths. Nigel will probably not be able to use his usual route to get out. Sometimes, the way out won’t be obvious, so you’ll have to find the exit door that will get you out of this nightmare. These doors will either bring you closer to the exit or closer to imminent death. One thing is certain, it won’t be easy “to navigate” your way through a complex network of rooms, filled in with enemies, and remain alive.
The strong points:
-
Numerous villains
-
War-like ambience
-
A wide range of weapons
For newbies and advanced gamers
This game has 4 difficulty levels. If you are one of those gamers that enjoy shooting anything that moves without thinking and hiding behind a wall, the easy mode will suit you well. If you want to play as a Special Force soldier, the impossible mode will be the right choice for you. Be aware though of the frustration that it might come with it! :)
A script designed by gamers for gamers
If we like to know where the shots will come from when we respawn, we also like when we don’t know.
Now, this is why A working day will surprise you. The villains will never appear twice in the same place. You will have to be extra careful to not be shot or blown up though. You will also have to be attentive to your surroundings in order to spot the enemies.
Know how to snoop
If you like having various weapons, you’ll have to learn how to perform a proper search. Look everywhere and you will find a variety of devastating weapons. From the automatic pump action shotgun to the heavy machine gun and the assault rifle. There is something for everyone.
PEOPLEDOWN
PEOPLEDOWN is a “Hotline Miami” style top-down stealth action game.
A short experimental game.
There are 5 stages in all!
House, Office, Factory, Bank, Gang.
Enjoy “Hotline Miami” style gameplay on your favorite stage!
In addition to the normal game mode, there is a killing mode.
Wipe out and refresh your enemies with the rocket launcher!
Proxy Air Force
A functional but quite baisc vertically-scrolling shoot-em-up. I’ve tried the developer’s platformers and top-down horror games, so I was curious what they would do with this genre. It deserves a neutral rating but, since Steam doesn’t have that, I can’t really recommend it because there are better games out there for the same price.
Proxy Air Force has responsive controls and plenty of enemies and powerups. You could almost call it a twist on the bullet hell subgenre. Seems like there are dozens of bullets on screen, too many to dodge them all. To comensate, the game gives you a generous lifebar and fairly regular health refils. What this means, though, is the game doesn’t require as much skill as most shoot-em-ups. There’s a little strategy to positioning yourself to avoid the most destructive enemies and making sure you last until (and pick up) the next health item. It is accessible to casual gamers because of this but doesn’t have the complexity, the pacing variations, or the overall excitement that classic shmups do.

Proxy Air Force is exactly what it looks like - a poor man’s 1942 with an iffy geopolitical-war plot, the kind of simplistic, no-frills, ultra-low-budget affair usually reserved for freeware websites and built-in game selections on dodgy clone consoles. There is exactly one plane to choose from, no options to speak of, and the assortment of enemy aircraft and structures to take down is not particularly varied, either. Gameplay is a simple one-button affair, and, with some skill and a generous heaping of luck, the entire thing can be completed in around half an hour. At times, even 80 British pence seems too hefty of a price to pay for it, considering one might expect something similar to be available for free.

Bloody Faerie
great game i love the map but the game for each wave it a repeat over and over again
– Real player with 5.0 hrs in game
Really nice environment visuals make up for a fairly generic wave-based shooter with some tech issues. All trees and roughly half the bushes shift in the wind, and ambient forest audio makes this feel more like a walking sim than a shooter.
Enemy character models are nice but often repeated as there’s not a large selection of them - three shoot fireballs and energy bolts though which is pretty neat. The procedural environments aren’t truly procedural, as they loop around you meaning you’ll encounter dropped loot from previously killed enemies but no bodies. Weapon drops are fairly hard to find, but usually located in or near points of interest worth exploring like abandoned gas stations and even a crashed UFO.
