Review updated to better reflect the developer’s efforts
RoboPhobik is a decidedly basic overhead shooter with a sprinkling of features found in other genres. You play as one of several characters as you traverse a city populated by robots to rescue other humans and defeat the big boss PAL 9000. While interesting in concept, the execution is not the best and some features are rather basic. I think the best comparison is to certain games from the rogue-lite genre, specifically the indie game Dungeons of Dredmor or like Azure Dreams from the PS1, though this game does not feature the typical feature of losing all–or nearly all–progress when you die.

It has potential.
I’d like to see Keyboard control. Left and Right arrows to rotate clockwise/counter, Up arrow to move forward.

This game has a lot of potential with its charming 16-bit style and almost endless customization with ship type, weapons and much more that actually have impact on the gameplay and your success.
My only wishes as for now is keyboard support and a soundtrack

After playing over 200 Hours. I can official say this game is the shit.
It takes a while to get decent enough to not want to rip your head off, equally as long to learn all the great content Eugene has added.
This game does NOT have the attention it deserves

A very enjoyable game for when you have a podcast or other type of content going on in the background, or just want a bit of fun. Surprisingly difficult with a good deal of replayability due to random chance being a fairly heavy factor. Apparently the dev’s first ever game on steam, so he definitely shows promise if this is just him dipping a toe in. Would definitely recommend at least a short attempt or two since the game is also light and quick to download.

NEXT JUMP: Shmup Tactics
Well now, it’s time to review yet another roguelike… or is it a turn-based strategy game? Bullet-hell? Yep, Next Jump: Shmup Tactics is all three of these things at once. These genres seem like they absolutely should not go together… it sounds totally nonsensical. But not only is the combination viable, but it works out really well here.
In this game, your overall goal is to reach the Dragon Mothership and defeat it, because apparently they stole your space beer (???) and ran off with it. Like any good shmup, this means a long battle through about a kersquillion enemy ships on your way to fight the boss at the end. As this game is part roguelike, everything is procedural, so you’ll be getting a very different experience every time.

This is a fantastic game if you like small-scale turn-based tactical battles in space. The core gameplay is turn-based shoot ‘em up with simplified FTL-like sector jumping in between the skirmishes. It’s not really much like FTL except superficially. It’s a great game nonetheless!
First, the downsides. It’s a relatively short game. It’s very replayable but even if you like it, you probably won’t play for many tens of hours. It’s also cheap though.
The battle map is small and doesn’t contain much except various enemies. Not realy a downside in my opinion, just a game design choice. Think of the map as a chess board.

Total surprise hit out of nowhere
Yesterday morning i’d never even heard of this game. Today, i’m addicted and considering seeking professional help

You know what? This is actually pretty awesome.
Thought I’d take a gamble on it since it’s cheap and it hasn’t disappointed.
I’ve never played anything like it.
You collect for items to get cash while spending cash as ammo! Crazy!
Not a finished game by any means, but it’s early access so fair enough.
Rough and ready (as they state) but I’d highly recommend it.
Hyped for the updates - interested to see where this goes.

Biodrone Battle

TLDR : Cheap Tuesdays, Bundle-Galore, Botline Miami wanna-be with cheap control scheme and user interface, and somewhat broken firing and stealth mechanics that cant hook you on despite its fast paced gameplay and somewhat decent sci fi premise.
Biodrone battle is a flash game / mobile game style top down shooter set in a generic sci fi theme. The game has a few ideas and gimmicks like a stealth button that makes your unit go black and in theory invisible and you can use alt fire to stun lock opponents then ram in them to capture them. You can them morph between one of three types of units that are featured in the game, the optional objective being to capture everyone rather than kill. However, mechanically, the game didnt feel like it was doing what it should, I could stealth and get shot at even if I stealthed before being in field of view of anyone, I could fight against a unit thats the same type as me, hit it multiple times, and still get one shot by them. Additionally, the restart and continue buttons would sometimes bug out and refuse to work, or the help menu would refuse to minimize, and other little control/UI annoyances that made that cheapened the general feel of it. The way the game handled FOV related to vision worked okay, and it seemed like there were about 30 levels to go through, and the game even affords you to skip levels by unlocking 7 whole levels as you unlock tutorial, but ultimately, the universe and setting was shallow, the assets were acceptable for the genre but unremarkable, and the setting was generic but acceptable. It is the mechanical flaws and overall lack of any sense of why you should bother with this that killed it for me within the first 10 minutes. I got this in a bundle so I will simply delete it from library and hide it from Steam. If someone mastered this and found it to be a hidden gem of some kind then refer to them and their review for an explanation but I am going to recommend my friends they stay away from this sorry devs.

Don’t be fooled by the simplistic visage of Biodrone Battle. Underneath its surface there are a gauntlet of challenging levels and smart enemies to test your skill.
PROS:
- The “morphing” mechanic-adds another element to the twich shooting mechanics of the typical top-down shooter, and makes into more of a tactical affair. Tactical in the sense that you get 3 slots to fill with drones that have different strengths and weaknesses, which can be employed in different situations. It also presents more than one way to advance through levels, as you are limited by the amount of energy and must mix fighting and morphing to survive. Gameplay with each drone takes on a different tone, as the special powers of each as well as their speed, range, and attack power make

Alright, so you found this game in the Free Games section or maybe you came knowing it’s a new game by mighty XWILKINX. As a person who played the game since its very launch, first on the Web-version, then on the itch.io version, and then here, I’m here to reroute your journey elsewhere, as you most likely won’t find what you’re looking for - a game you can play and enjoy. This review is focused on multiplayer, as IMHO singleplayer is extremely boring.
Let’s start with the positives tho, as game actually sports a couple of them:

Having played BRAIN/OUT, another 2D shooter very similar to this for countless hours, honestly I think this game is way better than B/O in a lot of ways. This game is what B/O could’ve been had it not been neglected and tried to be every single popular trend in the gaming industry to stay relevant. It really is a shame how B/O ended up in its current and most likely unrecoverable state. But enough of B/O’s current state. Lets look at the positives of WHY this game is B/O but IMO better.

TLDR
What can i say folks? this game is a mess. This game is more of a mess then Jeb Bush. We need to make indie game dev great again, we need to build a firewall to keep terrible devs away.
I tried to play this game, i gave it an honest chance, but its worse then a low energy mess, its an acid trip gone wrong.

The game starts out promissing enough, it has a menu that reminds me of that one time i had both diareah and was projectile vomiting. when fiddling around with the menu, you will quickly find small things like the logo not disaperaing when you go into the options.
