Aces of the Luftwaffe - Squadron
Not z good Shmup.
-
Long loading times
-
The action is hindered by text overlay at times
-
The zoom in zoom out effect adds nothing to gameplay but interfere with the action
-
The whole squadron thing is more a nuisance than anything else4
-
Grindy, you’ll eventually get all upgrade
The first AotL was better as a simple SHMUP, this one is boring

Very fun game. My only complaint is that sometimes with all of the firepower from you and your squadron as well as boss fire, it can be a bit hard to see where you are sometimes. Overall, the challenge is fair in most cases, the voice acting is entertaining and I appreciate how the story looks at both sides of the conflict with the DLC added. I hope to see more in this series!

Rival Megagun
Rival Megagun is a very frenetic shoot ‘em up, extremely competitive, and its particular features like firing “special attacks” directly to your opponent and becoming a boss to tear them apart in a direct engagement adds even more pepper to its already intensively competitive gameplay.
It is extremely fun when playing it against your friends, but if you don’t have friends nearby, its Arcade Mode is very enjoyable too, with each character having their own motives to “enter the contest”. The story of this single player mode is simple, as anyone would expect, but it is interesting enough to want me to know better each character involved.

This is a relatively mid-paced, simple chaining and dodging vs. shmup.
-
“Gear” shouldn’t have been introduced
-
Overall, a good introduction to this niche of this genre, but it might be wise to move on to harder games once you master this.
-
Grab it on sale, jump on the discord, ask for a few games.
Rival Megagun is a vs. Shmup. You are on one side of the screen, your opponent is on the other. You both shoot enemy ships and dodge bullets. If you can maintain a chain, you both build up energy and build up drones for your opponent to shoot down. Once your chain drops, the drones spawn, and your energy is banked. If your chain dropped because you got hit, you lose a bunch of that energy. The goal is to make sure your opponent gets hit twice. You have two useful tools at your disposal: you can charge up a shot which fires character-specific objects at your opponents screen, and the ability to transform into a mega gunship, spawning a boss that you control onto your opponent’s side.

Scrap Galaxy
The first game from Catalope Games is just as great as it looks.
For starters, it’s absolutely gorgeous.
Fast paced action for 1-4 players as well as lots and lots of fun.
Recommended for anyone who likes party games, geometry wars or just indie games in general.

The camera is the biggest enemy in the game. It does and WILL pull you into asteroids, enemies, and bombs.

I played a previous version with friends and with the developer on Gamescom two years ago. I bought it as soon as it was released on steam.
The versus mode is the only mode I played so far, which is already a blast of fun: killing your friends with good moves and lucky shots.
Only downside: There’s only remote play but no pure online play.

Rocket Wars
A frantic action ship shooter with a huge variety of unlocks and visuals. The weapons offer a good assortment of strategy and defense. The ship customization caters to your playstyle by offering different stats depending on how you like to blow others up. Fully able to level up and compete against bots, but as with most games, it’s way more fun with friends. A good choice if you are looking for that old arcadey feel and have a few buds over for game night.

So, I have this cousin who studies in another region of the country, and comes here almost every weekend.
I took the habit of buying local-multiplayers games just to play with him. I was checking the store for discounted local-multi games the other day, and came across this title.
First thing I thought was “Man, this looks cool and fun!” and I immediately bought it.
I can totally say this game is worth its price.

Spark and Sparkle
Amazing little game that I’m so glad I found out about. Vertical shooter mixed with a jigsaw puzzle? Will that work? Really? YES, yes it does!
Great SNES/Retro visuals and soundtrack are just icing on the cake!
Get this game!
EDIT: Would love some updates/DLC for it!!

Really fun VS Shoot’em up with a twist.
The chaotic combination of puzzle solving and STG gameplay makes for very tense and exciting situations where matches can easily flip from one players advantage to another in a flash.
Art style and soundtrack are fantastic in an adorable cutesy way.

Dimension Drive
For about 20 years I’ve been waiting for that one game that could satisfy my latent Axelay needs. Konami promised us a 2nd part but we were left wanting. Many shoot em ups passed revue these latest year and they were delicious iterations on the R type or ikaruga games. The unique gameplay of axelay remained unique, there wasn’t a single shoot em up game that bought an extra dimension or dynamic or gameplay element to the game like there was in Axelay, and so it remained ….. until Dimension Drive.

Dimension Drive is definitely a unique shmup, even in it’s early Access stage, coming across as a mix between your classic shmups and puzzle games like Portal. The dual-screen mechanic it uses a very simple in concept that, given proper exploration, has a ton of depth, something that the devs are clearly capitalizing on. It shows even in their current levels, gradually adding to each, either through obstacles, enemies, or even an additional mechanic. In fact, much of world 1 feels otherwise fairly polished, with some work still needing to be added to world 2.

Jamestown
First off, if you are interested in this game, I recommend getting Jamestown+ instead. It has two more stages and more ships.
Jamestown is a shmup with its stages primarily designed around co-op gameplay. However, enemy HP does scale so that enemies don’t become sponges if played solo. More about solo gameplay on higher difficulties later.
Jamestown doesn’t provide you with a bomb mechanic. Instead it has a hyper-like mechanic called vaunt. It will greatly increase dealt damage and create a shield which absorbs bullets upon activation. The duration of the vaunt can be increased by collecting the golden items. If it runs out, you’ll gain a significant amount of score, especially after a long vaunt. Cancelling the vaunt manually will provide you with brief invincibility and only provide you with a fraction of the score you’d get otherwise.

HO-LEE SCHNITZELS IT’S THIS GAME
BETTER BUCKLE INTO YOUR SPACESHIP BECAUSE WE’VE GOT ALIEN SPANIARDS TO KILL
DO YOU LIKE GAMES WITH TONS OF BULLETS? DO YOU LIKE VERTICALLY SCROLLING GAMES? DO YOU LIKE GAMES WITH ROCK-AWESOME MUSIC? DO YOU LIKE GAMES WITH ALTERNATE RE-TELLINGS OF AMERICAN HISTORY? DO YOU JUST LIKE FREAKIN’ SWEET SHOOT-EM-UPS? THEN JAMESTOWN IS THE GAME FOR YOU
IF YOU’VE PLAYED ANY SORT OF SHOOT-EM-UP BEFORE THEN YOU’LL PROBABLY ALREADY KNOW HOW THIS GOES DOWN BUT I SWEAR TO THE ALMIGHTY EMPRAH HIMSELF IF YOU PASS THIS UP BECAUSE OF THAT I WILL PERSONALLY COME TO YOUR HOUSE AND TAKE A MASSIVE DUMP ON YOUR FRONT LAWN

Rumble
Controls take a little getting used. Also has a bit of mini-game or mobile casual game feel, lacking a little polish. But it’s not as bad as some of the negative reviews suggest. The 3D graphics are OK, if a little glitchy, the campfire is really atmospheric. The co-op mode against the wolves is super addictive! Sometimes the pace feels a little slow and running around picking up things gets tedious. Making the blood stains fade a bit might make it a little more family friendly too. Perhaps one to get on special if you have some friends in the same room to play against with gamepads. For the price there are better similar titles out there, for example Super Snow Fight which has many more power-ups and game modes.

Alright I am a local coop games fiend. I literally watch the coop games search for recent games every day to see if there’s something I really need and I’ve got to say this is something I really needed.
You pick up rocks or spears off the ground and throw them at each other
If you can react fast enough you cna dodge them
if you dodge a rock or spear it can land on a wall behind you and you can throw it at them..
GOD THIS IS FUN
if you are a LOCAL COOP GAME FIEND then buy this my friends love it k bye

Sky Force Reloaded
If you’re into scroll shooters with amazing graphics, hardcore player…. well this game is for you. It is a classic ported from android/IOS if I recall but runs smooth with no issues at all.
