Carebotz

Carebotz

This game is a breath of fresh air to me mainly because of its controls. It’s been a long time since I’ve played something similar and while flying around needed a little time for me to get used to, it was fun to learn and after I got used to it, became second nature.

At first you only have a traditional fast-firing but low-damage weapon, but trust me, it’s worth progressing - you’ll have a whole arsenal of weapons to choose from before you know it, and prioritize according to your situation and preferences. When you master it, you can even figure out some tricky combos that are satisfying to pull off, such as when using the boost jump and the rocket in quick succession, it’ll fly quicker than the minigun pellets. Deciding on which upgrades to spend your currencies on is a fun way to customize your things.

Surprisingly entertaining.

I play with keyboard and it is a little clunky but the fights are very enjoyable even without controller.

The story-bits do not make too much sense, the thrill of toip-down-asteroid/souls-likey fights and traps, the great music and the stylish/functional graphics make this game a worthy one.

Should be a great purchase eveb with the full price tag.

(I got 25% off)

I had 2 minor issues with the game, a tiny bug of missing text and a clear way to see which part of my ship is forward.

I should have check the only games he released all in a few months…..I don’t think his games should remain on Steam,This game was clearly made in under a few hours and just used pre-made assists from unreal. There should be at least a standard to hit before it can be sold on steam.

Antibody

Antibody

You are the cure.

Sanguon, an otherwordly and newly discovered planet, has found itself the hotbed for a highly infectious alien lifeform. After intercepting a distress call from the surface research colony, you conclude the infection rate will outrun your efforts to contact your fellow humans. It is up to your piloting skills and the peculiar cleansing capabilities of your allied Chonklers to save Sanguon - and indeed the universe - from Viroid assimilation.

Multitask to victory.

Efficiently and continuously reposition your Chonkler companions to impede the rising infection. But stay alert, as your friendly critters are completely defenseless and will need your maneuverability and firepower to keep them safe as increasingly dangerous waves of enemies amass to attack.

Their loss is your gain.

Viroid corruption siphoned by the Chonklers can be converted into power-ups by your ship. Radar improvements? Piercing shot? Do you save up for big upgrades, or do you enjoy a flurry of smaller ones? The choice is yours.

A blast from the past, in the present.

A love letter to shoot ‘em up classics like Gradius, R-Type and Defender. Undeniably gameplay driven and thoroughly indulging in 80’s sci-fi pulp, Antibody is sure to excite arcade enthusiasts.

Armada Skies

Armada Skies

Pros:

  • Decent graphics.

  • It offers some fun.

  • A bunch of weapons to try.

Cons:

  • You start with a very low speed until you buy better parts.

  • Movement is kind of weird, like the collision isn’t perfect.

  • Most weapons are kind of useless.

  • Some bosses towards the end of the game take years to kill.

  • It has some bugs like not ending the level after defeating the boss, so I had to restart the level.

  • Bad visual effects. They feel too static.

The game had potential but towards the end it’s not very good because of the problems. With more polish it could have been much much better.

Mandala

Mandala

Mandala in the eastern languages means circle and they are geometric shapes inspired by nature and the world surrounding us. They unfurl from a center and spread out towards the edges, in the direction of infinity. Drawing and coloring a mandala has been a meditative activity since a long time. It lets one explore themselves through an interesting choice of shades which represent a creative stimulation.

Mandala brings forth this experience in a videogame.

Game experience

The game’s rhythm is not hectic, but it requires concentration and reflexes nonetheless: the mandala shoots slow and numerous bullets which move in a rotating fashion. The complex patterns are hard to predict and feel hypnotic. The colors and the music help creating a strong sense of immersion, aided by a steady gameplay rhythm.

Customization

The mandala’s customization is essential: you can choose between various drawings, styles, brushes, tones, themes and music that influence both gameplay and aesthetics. Each game is unique and Mandala gives you total creative freedom.

A linking story

Thin, yet enduring threads link every mandala to each other… like true friendship. Discover the story of Camilla through the pages of a diary; unveil her story by completing all the mandalas in the book.

The editor and social media

When you complete a mandala, it is possible to view your score and be rewarded with various marks, depending on how well you played. There is also an editor in which you can customize the output of your game, export the image in .png format and share it both on social media and online leaderboards.

Main features

  • Immersive, hypnotic gameplay

  • 8 mandalas to color with a pastel-styled book

  • 32 colors and 8 brushes to unleash your creativity

  • In-game editor for sharing your inspiration on social media

-=The Good=-

Nice-sounding battle music

Upgraded visuals over Genesis version

Good control and hit detection

An extra sub-boss near the end

Detailed spritework

Cool Steampunk setting

Extra parallax scrolling added to some backgrounds

-=The Bad=-

Noticeable artifacts in movies

Lots of typos

Odd mix of sprites and non-sprite effects

Strange sprite outline issues

Some stuttering at times

-=The Details=-

Steel Empire was a game originally released on the SEGA Genesis back in 1992, when the influx of shmups for the system was dying down. It made a name for itself by being a well made game with a Steampunk setting that differed from a lot of the other shmups coming out at the time, along with a somewhat movie-like presentation. In time, the game was ported to the GameBoy Advance in 2004 and the DS in 2014. And this game is more or less a port of the DS version.

Update 2 Sept 17:- much improved and getting better all the time, ship building and levels all getting better and more user friendly. Get it its different and new for VR!

Well got this game because there is nothing else like it in VR and on sale. Its early access and it showed straight away with the oculus touch controllers as I was about to get a refund as i could not start or build my ship until i realised i had to click down on the left stick to select things? Devs please look at this as it took me an age to work out.

I am editing this review because there are only 36 reviews for this game and therefore I think this game is underrated.

This is one of the first VR games I bought and I really liked it. I haven’t played it in a while but it uses your whole playspace so that you move around yoursefl stretching and crouching while your controller is the fighter plane requiring you to guide it around, under and through various terrain obstacles coming at you on a treadmill kind of setup just like an old shooter like 1942 (whatever you call those games again). While dodging you also must shoot through a bullet hell so you can upgrade and rebuild your fighter plane for the next level.
