MISKATONIC is a Free VR game. It worked on my HTC Vive system, played ?, sounded ok, looked ok. It needs more room in your playspace than it requires, button required to start playing is a reach too far. Has a tutorial room, with instructions but I don’t know how to pronounce the words used for the 3 spells. Reads like the 3 spells are audio activated. Supposed to be a wave defense game where you can blast flying demons, use a shield to protect yourself and make stuff levitate. You are rooted standing to a point on floor, and yeah it is for midgets, so you are looking at inside your body if you are tall.

NEON Ultra

NEON Ultra

After spending a few hours (340!) with NEON Ultra, and working up to a high score over 163,000,000 (no cheats), I can honestly say that I like this game. Alot. One screen. Just a handful of power ups and one weapon (upgrades). Only six or so different enemies. Relentless fun and challenge! Yes indeed I do love this game more than many of my $20-$60 dollar efforts. I will always play it. Try and stop me! This game costs $5. I would pay $50. What are you waiting for? Get your copy today. Now! Stop reading! GO!!

Neon Ultra is a fantastic, fun and addicting twin-stick shooter. Its gameplay is a clone between Geometry Wars and Asteroid. There are a varieties of unique baddies with different behavior and the incoming asteroids will flood the screen when least expected. There are plenty of powerups to pick up and once you max out your weapon, you feel invincible and mowing down everything in your path. The graphics is bright and colorful and I love the particle graphics. The soundtracks is uplifting and fast pace that blend in nicely with gameplay.

Moose Life

Moose Life

Introduction

Moose Life is an arcade shooter using Llamasoft’s voxel game engine inspired by 80s arcade game Juno First. Looking at gameplay of the original you can see the resemblance but also how much Llamasoft added to make this an instant classic with unique game mechanics.

Gameplay

If you’re familiar with Jeff Minter and the games he designs you would not be surprised your player character is a moose. You fly through a space corridor and you have to battle an array of enemies wave after wave. You can move on the floor or flip around to move upside down from the ceiling. Similar to in Juno First where there’s a sphere with a person inside to rescue in Moose Life each level but the last has a sphere containing 10 sheep for you to rescue. Like in Goat Up the sheep you rescue follow you in a string which you can use to sweep at enemies and they add a valuable bonus to your score at the wave’s ends.

Possibly the most Llamasoft game ever. Billions of particles. All the colours. Hundreds of sheep. Terrible moose jokes. Mindbending visual effects. And at Moose Life’s core is rock-solid old-skool shooting action that reels you in gently before smacking you down hard with new lessons learned.

Normal mode gives you extra lives and the Llamasoft-standard Restart Best option so you can pick up your game wherever you want and build up a massive high score, Pure mode gives you nine lives and the challenge of getting as far as you can in one go, and if that all feels like hard work then there’s Freeride mode that just lets you enjoy the ride without worrying about lives or high scores.

Soft Body

Soft Body

If you love games that sound amazing and feel good to play, this is probably your game of the year. It’s a bullet hell like no other; a game where you don’t shoot your enemies but try to get close enough to touch them without getting shot. And you do it by controlling two snakes at once, one with each hand.

Getting good at Soft Body is like a form of meditation. As you start to get better at it, you stop focusing on controlling one snake at a time, and you wind up controlling both simultaneously, not looking at either one. Then the game starts to throw challenges at you where you need to be moving and dodging and attacking with both of them at once.

Real player with 144.9 hrs in game

This game is so damn good. The level design and controls are as smooth as an ice cold glass of Dr. Pepper on a summer day. It’s not meant to be an easy game, and the difficulty curve of Soft Game leaves something to be desired, but Hard Game is definitely where Soft Body shines. Tasks that are infuriatingly difficult at first eventually lighten up, only to be stacked on top of one another in rapid succession. There’s no feeling better than grinding out later-game levels and then returning to earlier ones just to find that you’ve become a LITERAL GOD all of a sudden. Add on to that the Halloween levels featuring not a single bullets, and multiple secrets I still haven’t even discovered the meaning of yet, and you’ve got yourself a game that’s worth far more than its asking price. 100% recommended buy.

Fractus is an abstract twin stick shooter for Windows and Linux. It is a unique visual experience and a challenging game. Most of the graphics are fractal objects that are procedurally generated on the GPU. It also features an odd medley of guitar-generated sound effects.

Space Giraffe

Space Giraffe

If you say “Space Giraffe is bad, you can’t see what you’re doing, you just die for no reason!” then you are bad at the game and don’t understand how it works. It’s really as simple as that. Everyone who takes the time to learn how to properly play this game ends up loving it, because it’s a beautiful, satisfying, addictive game and there’s nothing else in the world like it.

That being said the PC port, at least on Windows 10, is inferior to the XBLA original. There’s a bug I’ve noticed where after a while of play, certain important sound effects start dropping out, making later levels in the game more difficult than they would normally be. It also lacks the vibration feature of the XBLA version which was extremely useful (your controller would vibrate every time your multiplier went up, so you’d easily know if you’ve bulled enough enemies off at once) so I would recommend you grab the original if you have access to a 360 or Xbox One.

Just friggin awesome!

Have been playing for years on the 360 but bought the PC version recently as my ancient Xbox is having issues.

The PC version is way better (and I love the 360 version) playing in 1080p makes everything so much clearer.

As for the actual game, well it’s one of the greatest twitch games of all time.

At first it can be really daunting with all the effects and deliberate obstructions but when it all starts to flow there’s nothing like it.

It’s all about the sound effects! In most games SFX are there as punctuation to the gameplay to just have something to accompany the explosions. With Space Giraffe the effects blend with the gameplay to really immerse you.

Solid Aether

Simple but aesthetic.

But need more optimizations (not really big problem but particles are not optimized I think.)

10/10

Real player with 24.8 hrs in game

tl;dr - If you’re even mildly interested in the genre and you like the aesthetic, this game is 100% worth your time.

Fantastic bullet hell game. The bullet patterns are creative and beautiful, and are complemented by the music so well. This game is art condensed into a bullet hell game. Bosses in particular have some of the coolest bullet patterns I’ve ever seen in this genre, being both fun to learn and gorgeous to look at.

It is both difficult yet forgiving. It’s easy to die, but the game gives you so many lives that it’s not hard to beat the game on your first try. Yet you’ll want to come back to see if you can improve your personal best.
