KINESIS

KINESIS

I absolutly recommend this game. Not only is it a lot of fun to play but it also has replay value, providing a lot of different challenges no matter if you are a speedrunner or are just looking for an enjoyable and challenging 3D plattformer.

Kinesis has some amazing visuals to offer. All of the assets and the environment look stunning so big props to the game artists!

The puzzles start really simple for you to learn the mechanics and get harder with every level. There are also new mechanics and new types of levels interduced in the course of the game. This really keeps you interested since the game is constantly being developed further and new levels get released regularly.

Game concept is great -

POSITIVES:

Level Design

Mechanic Functionality

Art

NEGATIVES:

Some mechanics seem to be used just for the sake of it being used.

Mechanics, whilst cool, feel unpolished.

Level transitions

Comments:

Props to the level designer, mechanics were utilised in an interesting way - although I found that the ball-on-button mechanic seemed to be used frequently just for the sake of it - what is the point of the ball spawning right next to the button at the end of some of the stages? It just seems like an unnecessary step to opening the portal to the next level.

Lifeless Planet Premier Edition

Lifeless Planet Premier Edition

EDIT: There is a Premium Edition FREE upgrade for current owners in 2015 so buy now!

TL;DR at the bottom.

Lifeless Planet is an incredible game filled with atmospheric joy and a story that only gives you just enough to figure out what is going on. You play as an American astronaut that is sent to explore a planet that your readings suggest is brimming with life. Upon arrival you find that this planet is nothing like you expected. It houses strange secrets of past explorers and a nation trying to find the perfect life away from Earth only to find that meddling with things they don’t understand almost never ends happily. An interesting mix of casual exploration and platforming, it keeps things relatively fresh most of the time. You should feel the want to get to the end to see how everything pans out and what the mysteries of this Lifeless Planet are, but at the same time your feeling of eerie isolation and the ambient sounds of the world make you want to take your time looking at the planet and chilling out as well. I became lost in the isolationist atmosphere and didn’t want it to end.

On arrival, you discover you are alone, isolated on a planet seemingly devoid of life, yet strangely there is a Soviet town abandoned long ago. How can this be & what has happened here? As the story unfolds, & you explore more of this intriguing alien world, you soon realise there is a much more going on than meets the eye. The planet is not as lifeless as it seems…

Newtonian Inversion

Newtonian Inversion

You have become trapped in space amongst the remnants of a disintegrated starship and must navigate your way to safety.

In this game there are platforms which all have their own gravity. Blue platforms have gravity pulling towards them and red platforms have anti gravity which pushes the player character and some physics objects away from them. The game is played from a 3d third person perspective. The goal is to navigate to the exit teleporter by solving the puzzles involving changing the direction of gravity using switches and a gun which will reverse the direction of gravity when fired at the platform.

  • [*change the position of the platforms to effectively clear the levels]

Dark Space

Dark Space

Dark space is worth the money.

the atmosphere is amazing and the puzzles are fun and challenging.

Definetly would recommend!

Starts off pretty interesting, then you get annoyed, half the time you’re fighting with the controls and bad camera angles.

Even the menu is a bit hit n miss if the controller navigates the menu correctly or if you even have the ability to navigate the menu’s with the controller, I had to resort to using the keyboard most of the time I wanted to access menu, like when trying to exit.

enjoy 5 minutes of watching someone else give up at the same point I have got to.

Nice puzzle game! Well designed levels with a nice soundtrack. Price is right. Only wished there were more levels. An editor would be nice too!

This is one of the best concepts of a first person puzzle game I’ve seen in a while, everything is very polished. The puzzles are pretty casual. The price is right. I just wish there were more puzzles. It’s like a combo of Q-Beh The Atlas Cube and Portal. Please make some DLC or another game! 10/10

Liberation Mutagenix

Liberation Mutagenix

Liberation Mutagenix is a fun game that feels reminiscent of the older lemmings games, but stands out with its own identity of a uniquely polished artstyle. I really enjoyed playing through each of these levels and thinking about how to beat it until everything clicks. The game allows for you to trial and error as much as you want with being able to restart levels even with your tools already placed down, allowing you to figure out more complex puzzles levels without having to waste too much time on setup.

SolarGun

SolarGun

For a $1 game this game really delivers.

if you enjoyed Portal you are sure to enjoy this one, It is very similar to that game.

What we have here is a first person puzzle platformer game much like Portal as i have mentioned.

The gameplay is quite fun with the environments neatly done with a very appealing look. The puzzles themselves arent too hard or complicated especially if you have played other games similar to this. The game has very decent graphics, the visual aspect of the game is really good, we have that futuristic look or theme you might say.

I have two of the “Year” levels left, and I don’t think I’m going to finish it, but I’ve certainly played enough to warrant a review. While I did enjoy the game in general, I’m going to have to say “Not Recommended” because some parts were fun, but many more were unbelievably frustrating.

While the description claims this is “a first person puzzle game”, and the image says “Short Puzzle Platformer”, it is much, much more platformer than puzzle. There are several areas where you deal with alternating lasers, and it requires very precise timing and jumping to jump over the lasers. The bigger problem, however, is that jumping feels somewhat floaty, and most of the game requires extremely precise jumping (precise in terms of where you land and in terms of timing your jump perfectly because the gaps to be crossed require the maximum jumping distance). While each level is short, if you are not a pro at platforming, you will likely die many times, and replaying the same 60 seconds over and over again because you didn’t get a jump just right is not fun.
