Fishing: North Atlantic - Enhanced Edition

Fishing: North Atlantic - Enhanced Edition

Ok so where do I start. The game title is fishing north Atlantic, well I’ll put it simple this does not show how we fish in eastern Canada what so ever. They basically took the equipment from Barents sea and put it here. we do not use that equipment it’s completely different. The lobster well the traps are wrong no one uses those anymore , no idea why they would put old fashioned traps and not the new style traps.

The crab fishing well let’s just say I guess they thought Alaska was part of the north Atlantic and made replicas of two deadliest catch boats the saga and northwestern. Like that’s a insult to me period. Iam a commercial fisherman from eastern Canada and that is no way near how crab is done around here period. I have no idea what they were thinking.

Edit: With the latest update the game looks brand new! Waves are now the best of any game I’ve played, and the storms and sunrise/sunsets are incredible.

The short and sweet: cool premise and setting, nice relaxing gameplay with a lot of glitches. The devs are really attentive, hard working, and passionate. One of my all time favorite games.

Huge thank you to the devs for this absolute gem!!!

This game is what I’ve been looking for, I found out about the deadliest catch PC game but it was only on disk and hard to find. For a long time I simply dreamed of a game like this. Fishing: Barents Sea came out, very mixed reviews in the beginning so I steered clear. This game launched, in an allbeit troublesome state.

Great take on the original, but could be much better

I played the original game when it first came out. I still remember playing it as a teenager. I loved that game, I played it so many times across many years.

Even after uninstalling, if I come across it again I will play it again. That’s how good it was. It was funny, it was logical, it was quirky, it had mod support and overall entertaining.

When Evil Genius 2 came out, I was super excited to play it again as I thought it would be much better than the original but it was missing a few vital quirks that would’ve made it better.

Jurassic World Evolution 2

I was going to wait till after christmas to see if this was going to get better, but with down right frustrating stuff going on here, nah this needs to be done now. This is abysmally annoying compared to the first.

I’ll start off with the pros:

Paleobotany is now a part of paddock building itself, very welcome very nice. Good step up.

Automation on the park vehicles is a lot better now… for the most part.

Slightly bigger maps, though it may not seem like it where 1’s were stretched out into long thin lines, these are all most compact and lumpy.

Overall I recommend this game with an asterisk which I will go into a bit.

Mechanically, the game is an overall improvement on a base level from the previous game, at least as far as the core functions of the dinosaurs, park building, and pinning down what your guests need to get a five star park is. Makes it a lot more engaging then simply plopping down a hotel, arcade, clothes shop and restuarant near every viewing gallery. Guests wants are communicated slightly better and paths, shelters, etc. make even a bare bones five star challenge park look like a beautiful well done theme park in contrast to previous games where its a mess of buildings and hotels huddled in one place to artificially inflate a rating with a big multisectioned square of fences with nothing but diplos and dilophos in them.

This game has absolutely nothing to offer in terms of gameplay, entertainment, satisfaction, rewards or achievements.

13 hours of my time wasted.

Game has no instructions and nothing to indicate what any of the icons on the screen are for. There are no bonuses for reaching any levels. I got everything to level 200 and there was nothing at all to show i had achieved anything at all. Ok so i unlocked a bunch of achievements but there was no rewards for anything. Upgrading the “buildings” seems to do nothing. I would have expected that having everything at level 200 would be some kind of awesome feat… but in this game obviously it’s not. I could see NO indication that upgrading anything actually contributed to increasing the “money” earned in game.

I couldn’t put my review on deluxe DLC so I do it here:

The main is a generic clicker with some annoying ads, but it is f2p with achievements. So I gave it a go. Even the lack of stability, the no explanation, no story I still bought the Deluxe Edition DLC for the promised no-ads (yet they are still present) and for the more achievements. Maybe they are unlockable, but I wouldn’t know. Everytime I want to buy an upgrade a script error appears. Despite the saved files, I lost my progress..

pro’s

  • in depth simulation

  • easy to play somewhat hard to master (not to much of a difficulty curve)

  • the ability to use loopholes so that policy’s pay for themselfs, but is punished by triggering a event.

con’s:

  • populations stay fixed.

  • the rate at which people seem to convert to other political ideals i quite fast. (not quite realistic how you can transfer the whole country to atheist in 2 years)

  • population stays fixed and does not create problems. (if this would be too hard for starters please add an option to turn this on and off)

Even though I think the game should be played by anyone who enjoys simulation games, I found a lot of negative points that kind of ruined the experience of the game for me:

  • The game feels super linear. There is an option for randomizing initial conditions that improves this, but if you don’t play with that, there’s basically a very narrow path of choices you need to take to ensure you’re not overthrown and win the game.

  • There is no “just one more turn please”. You either win or lose, and when you do that’s it, it’s over.

Eisenwald: Blood of November

Eisenwald: Blood of November

Unlike origina Legends of Eisenwald which included a campaign across several maps, here you have only one (large) map and the gameplay near the end is really tedious. You need to control the most castles on November 8th and there is no way to skip to this date if you control everything already, so you just wait on max game speed and hunt respawning brigands. On the other hand, the enemy forces respawn too, so you’ll have a very difficult fight until you level up your troops a bit and capture their city - then the endless enemy forces almost stop.

The Ice Crone is Hillary Clinton, Deiter is Donald Trump. Seriously, do the introduction quests and when Deiter talks about building a wall around the whole kingdom and keeping criminals and rapist southerners (Mexicans) and Saracens (Muslims) out, and then meet the corrupt Ice Crone and her corruption and likelihood of war with the “Muscovites” (Russia) and support for the Northern Treaty (TPP Deal) as well as her cheating husband and the “Saracen Beauty” they even named Huma after her aide Huma Abedin in real-life, you’ll know you’re choosing Donald or Hillary in this scenario - Which is hilarious. I can’t wait to see both sides' endings as neither can be good for the country, just like in real life. Political inside jokes aside, this scenario is actually quite fun.
