Muspell

Muspell

This is indeed early access. Only buy if it’s half price or you want to play through a very rudimentary Minecraft clone.

In just 20-30 minutes (using a controller):

  1. Can’t invert the Y-axis view - that makes it almost impossible for me to play.

  2. You can’t tell what anything is, there are no tooltips for things in your inventory and no indication of what you’re looking at.

  3. Basically I figured out how to dig up the ground but that was the only thing I could figure out how to do other than wander around (looking up when I meant to look down :) ).

Small but has a lot going on! I can see this being really fun once more of a building community develops. Decent amount of content at the moment and the graphics give it a 2000’s flash game nostalgia. I really really like the hoverboard missions!

So, first of all, i enjoyed this game so much that i repurchased it on PC (ive put months into the PS4 version), so the 140ish hours that are displayed are a mere fraction of a fraction of what ive actually put into this game. That said. . . .

Game was put together well, survival mode is awesome, and i enjoy setting factories, complete with gardens of all kinds of stuff, that i automate the ever living h*** out of.

Other fun things to do include but are not limited to:

Fistycuffs

Hoarding

Defense

I tried to make my friends play this many times and they looked at the game with that meh… expression. They mostly never tried it but all thoses who did liked it.

The game Launch like a terraria map where you gotta start every time from scratch* with a factory and explore to find ingredients. Once you’re set up, you have to defend your soup factory versus, kinda pirate, I dont know the name but they basicaly try to eat or blow up your base.

It mostly base building, base defence, exploration and trying to mix up new combination of ingredients. where the game, get more complex as you unlock more options, ex. vehicles or new robots.

Alright, let’s get the gameplay playlist for my channel outta the way: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXbc-BwqTyip-nwsmLQerJq22HsJeiFAk

Now with that outta the way, let me tell you somethin'… this game has a lot of potential. I mean a metric crap-ton. Here’s my opinion on some aspects of the game so far:

-The artistic style fits the simplicity and creativity of the game. I actually took a look at the kid and his bedroom, and I love the attention to detail! Even the kid moving his little controller as I move my lil' clay mold… it’s awesome.

Fantastic game! The Developers deserve all the praise in the world for creating such a unique experience. But it does need some improvements.

First I’d like to see a clearer persentage meter for the stars (as is I have no clue what levels I need to replay to get 100% because I’m in around 98% - 99%, which is visually identical too 100% and there is no way of seeing what persentage I’m actually on) or make the star system more generous (like not needing 100% but instead 90% or 95%).

Second please make leaving the stage, when you reach the check point thing, optional. There were far too many instances of me trying to get 100% and accidently touching the check point because it was in the way of the only secure route I had to an objective. Kicking me out and my only option being to replay the entire level.

My daughter adores this game. It caters to her generation pretty well imo…and it has really familiarized her with the quirks and overall feel of video gaming. She’s told me that sometimes her cat friends stop following her, and sometimes the cars don’t allow you to exit them..but besides that we haven’t run into any bugs. The open maps are awesome, and she loves that she can just run around and do whatever.

A few things my daughter has mentioned makes me think new levels, accessories, eye colors, and some emotive animations for the characters to perform would make it a little more fleshed out (though she recently discovered she can sit and lie down, which was excited with.) She had a huuge blast with the waterballoon fight mechanic. Some mini games (maybe races or mini golf or something?) would maybe give the game a little more in the way of activities to offer. Overall a great introductory game for young kids that offers some things I’ve noticed most children’s games do not, among them an avenue to use your imagination.

I spent far too many hours in the demo, worried if an adult should buy a kitten game aimed at toddlers. Just do it. I’m in my 40s and love it as a game to just chill in. Not only is it pretty, but there are seasons and day and night cycles. Your kitten posse that you gather with each rescue even helps out, though I’m not sure if it’s on purpose. But you can bounce off them to execute a super double jump, results will vary.

Some of the fish are a challenge to jump to for a game aimed at wee ones, but they have to learn platforming sometime. In the full game there are plenty of places to explore and things to do. Honestly tripping humans and knocking things off tables never gets old. You can also take a break to “paint”, visit space, or hit the beach. As it’s an all around labor of love, it got my vote for the upcoming awards. Best of luck to the dev, it’s amazing to see how far this game has come.

some people might not get the importance of mods in this game, you shouldn’t expect to have a lot of fun with this game if you dont play with mods on, because they add so much content and interesting scenarios to the game.

in my honest opinion, it’s a pretty good game, you’ll probably get a few laughs and good times out of it, also seeing as how you can play with buddies split-screen, but you will definately also rage at it once in a while.

here’s the website of the devs and where you’ll find the mods (mods are in the fan forums section); http://datarealms.com

–- In short —

As a comparision … I would call this a mix of Terraria and old school 2D Worms, just without a rounds system and instead live action gameplay. A complicated game that doesn’t really tell you itself how to play it. You kinda figure it out. Like in old times games didn’t tell you each little thing you could do. You just tried stuff. Pushed some buttons and saw what happened. You fail of course a lot at first, but you learn from each mistake! And next time it works better.

Because of that though success to me feels very satisfying in Cortex Command. It feels like you actually earned it, you were not led to it by your hand.

PAW Patrol Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay

PAW Patrol Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay

4 year old paw patrol fan is enjoying it. It has the paw paw boogie, minigames from the missions are available to be replayed from the menu, all missions are cooperative (both characters are needed to complete them but both characters are also playable from one controller by changing them, kind of like Lego games, in case you are playing single). Overall fun game to enjoy with our kids :)

Keep in mind the second player can join after completing a bit of a tutorial from the first mission. Then second player press start and joins.

sometimes the dialogue has to be skipped with pressing “A”, and sometimes you just have to wait.

at the end of every mission you have to press “Y” to continue, and then “A” from there on out. ridiculous.

they can probably get away with making such a terrible game because they know there’s no other paw patrol games out there.

Amazing Frog?

Amazing Frog?

Awesome game!

At first I was like, ‘What the hell, all you do is run around, fart and fall over’ but my daughter likes watching Pungeance on the tube, and I can’t really let her play GTA5, so we kept playing…

And wow! once you figure out how things work, learn about some unlocks and start two player (Controllers highly recommended, camera moves much better with them) the hours will fly by. Getting some unlocks feel like genuine achievements / lessons in perseverance, the LOL key and microscopes spring to mind.

Real player with 168.7 hrs in game

We (my housemates and I) have played this game since it was on the OUYA, and missed it so much that we bought it on PC.

The Amazing Frog is a game about messing around, persistence, and discovery. If you wanted to go all literary-analysis on it, you could say that the ease with which you fall down and get back up again plays into the theme of persistence. But honestly I think the devs just thought it was funny.

The main gameplay loop is something like this. Mess around until you find something weird and new to interact with. Try lots of things with it until it unlocks something. With the new unlocks, rinse and repeat. This loop wasn’t really present in the OUYA version, and I think it’s an overall improvement that lengthens the appeal of the game and gives it an occasional magical quality. Don’t be expecting amazing discoveries though; we’re talking small stuff here. This game works best with no explanation and little to no expectations. It is exactly as dumb as it looks, with lots of fart humor and the occasional pop culture or current events reference. I think the unabashed silliness of it goes so dumb that it wraps back around to funny for us.

Bunhouse

Bunhouse

This has quickly become one of my favorite games. I fell in love with just how magical and cozy Bunhouse feels. The music and graphics are amazing, especially for a 1-man dev team. It’s fun to just be in the world the game puts you in- immediately relaxing and happy vibes.

I also want to mention I usually don’t play games like this. I mostly play MMOs and MOBAs, with the occasional RTS or ARPG. That’s a big reason I feel like Bunhouse is something special- it’s outside of my usual genres and I love it just as much or more than my go-to games.

I’m a grown adult dude who owns a car, pays taxes and goes to work every day.

I also own a little bun-boy chub who I rescued a while back from a sparrowhawk attack.

I don’t care about the stigma– this game is cute beyond belief from the wee bunnies to the music– I totally recommend it for chill times after a stressful day at work.

I love the little messages on the top right of the main menu with bun-care tips.

My little bun Pebble approves. :)

EDIT: I just pretty much 100% the game in under 15 hours solo, which consisted of two play-throughs. First one to chill and second to get all achievements and to fully upgrade everything and make a nice looking greenhouse. I get some people’s criticisms of the content, but pretty much 1 hours 1 pound, for a game that I will no dobut come back to, is a great deal. For a single bun-loving dev this is more than impressive, from modelling, texturing, rigging and animation to programming and implementation.
