Isles of Pangaea

Isles of Pangaea

Pretty unique little dinosaur simulator as it has some choices not usually found in dinosaur sims.

Isles of Pangaea has dinosaurs such as dimetrodon, sarcosuchos, archelon, and compsognathus…yup, that’s right, the tiny lizards from Jurassic Park: Lost World…few dino games offer this dinosaur to play with.

In fact, you start off the game with a choice of either Compsognathus or Pteranodon…or Archelon or Oviraptor…and you earn evolution points by eating (DO YOU GET POINTS BY KILLING)…

But if you want a single player dino game then get this one. Aquatic and flying dinosaurs are playable and you can be a stegosauras that alone is worth my money

The Dinosaurs Are Here

The Dinosaurs Are Here

The Dinosaurs Are Here is a physics-based sandbox game set in a nowadays park where you can control a dinosaur.

Hunt for humans and try to survive against the park security guards!

The game features procedural animations, an advanced dinosaur IK system, and ragdoll humans that you can grab, eat and throw as a dinosaur.

You will need to manage your hunger, thirst, health, and stamina during your play.

The game is set on a beautiful huge park with football fields, baseball fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, ponds, restaurants, bars, and much more!

You will be able to control your head and tail in a simple yet advanced way.

RAGDOLL HUMANS

Grab humans and have fun with them!

Depending on the angle of your attacks you will have the possibility to take a human from his hands, legs, neck, or spine.

THROW OBJECTS

Each object will be pickable depending on your mass and the object’s mass.

That means that a big dinosaur will have a better chance to pick a big object, while a small dinosaur will only be able to pick smaller objects.

Also, bigger objects will mean slower head movement when holding them, which translates into smaller throw distances.

ADVANCED AI

The AI will have an advanced perception system that will rely on sight and hearing.

If you make too many noises they will be able to hear you from a great distance and escape if they are normal civilians or chase you if they are security guards.

KEY FEATURES

  • Physics-based dinosaur game

  • Huge map with lots of secrets and achievements

  • Survival & hunting game mechanics

  • Advanced AIs with perception systems that are able to hear, see and predict

Birthdays the Beginning

Birthdays the Beginning

Birthdays the Beginning is probably my most reluctant recommendation of a game I can give.

It has so many gaping, terrible problems with it. Just check out all the other reviews, most of them sum it up.

The game is uninteractive, the animals barely do anything, might as well just be numbers with a static sprite.

It’s all a game of population control. That’s it.

It can be incredibly, incredibly frustrating trying to get certain species to spawn because they need exact precise requirements for long periods of time and balancing other populations to be in harmony. It’s a mess.

I would tentatively give this game a thumbs up. In the couple of days since it was released, I have played way too many hours.

First, the many negatives:

  • This game has clearly not been fully implemented for PC and keyboard & mouse. The tutorial talks about using the ‘left stick’ and ‘right stick’, which makes it even more difficult to understand the controls. The key bindings are at best tricky and at worst terrible: the game uses WASD for moving, arrow keys for moving the camera (the mouse does this too, but very slowly), and XFGHJKLI for menu selections. For some reason, I (i) is used for both favouriting items and switching between macro and micro, which means you end up with a load of favourites, and have to be extra careful not to press J and use them accidentally.

Everpixel Valley

Everpixel Valley

Action RPG meets farming simulator.

You’ve inherited a dusty plot of land. With your trusty axe, you set out to establish your pixelated dominance. Can you turn your farm into a bustling empire? It won’t be easy - you’ll have to fight off hordes of enemies seeking plunder. But you won’t have to do it alone - raise an army of tutu-wearing dinosaurs , obese unicorns, and sharks with friggin' laser beams on their heads to take the fight to your enemies.

Features:

  • Turn your dusty plot of land into a bustling farm! Sow crops, raise critters, and gather materials. But be careful - you’ll need to build defenses. Invaders will seek to pillage your hard work.

  • Hack n' Slash ARPG: Defend your farm - wade into the fray and make your enemies regret coming to your turf.

  • Character development: Over 24 perk trees to choose from! Choose carefully - you can only choose one primary and three secondary trees!

  • Dynamic Landscape: Specializing in a tree changes the farm around you! Pyromancer’s farms become grow hot while Toximancers poison the very land around them! Choose your crops accordingly - not every crop enjoys fire; not every crop is hydrated by poison!

  • Crafting: Everything you grow, every material you gather from your foes can be used for crafting. Forge slime swords, gem-infused chainmail, or tools to accessorize your buildings. The materials you use determines the enchantments you get!

  • Critters: What farm is complete without dinosaurs, wiener dogs, and walruses? Raise your livestock from eggs into your greatest allies! Bring them into battle or use them as mounts. Your critters eat different crops and produce different materials, so experiment to find the combination that suits your taste!

Jurassic World Evolution 2

Jurassic World Evolution 2

I was going to wait till after christmas to see if this was going to get better, but with down right frustrating stuff going on here, nah this needs to be done now. This is abysmally annoying compared to the first.

I’ll start off with the pros:

Paleobotany is now a part of paddock building itself, very welcome very nice. Good step up.

Automation on the park vehicles is a lot better now… for the most part.

Slightly bigger maps, though it may not seem like it where 1’s were stretched out into long thin lines, these are all most compact and lumpy.

Real player with 188.1 hrs in game

Overall I recommend this game with an asterisk which I will go into a bit.

Mechanically, the game is an overall improvement on a base level from the previous game, at least as far as the core functions of the dinosaurs, park building, and pinning down what your guests need to get a five star park is. Makes it a lot more engaging then simply plopping down a hotel, arcade, clothes shop and restuarant near every viewing gallery. Guests wants are communicated slightly better and paths, shelters, etc. make even a bare bones five star challenge park look like a beautiful well done theme park in contrast to previous games where its a mess of buildings and hotels huddled in one place to artificially inflate a rating with a big multisectioned square of fences with nothing but diplos and dilophos in them.

ABOUT THIS GAME

Dinosaur Fossil Hunter is a storytelling simulator where you live a real paleontologist’s life. You will learn many interesting facts about these extinct creatures that walked the Earth millions of years ago.

  • Drive off-road vehicles in locations inspired by U.S. landscapes

  • Use various exploration and excavation tools to search through deformable terrain

  • Prepare fossils to showcase in your own museum

TRAVEL THE UNKNOWN

EXPLORE EXCAVATION AREAS

Collecting fossils is not that easy, especially if you have to dig by yourself. Use your georadar to search for clues and discover the remains of extinct species, adding to your insight of the Earth’s distant past. If you think all you have to do is find the right area, you’re wrong. It’s just the beginning! Use multiple tools, such as a chainsaw, shovel, or pickaxe, to achieve your goal. But, be careful! These bones can be very fragile.

PREPARE DELICATE FOSSILS

Precious fossils are very delicate, so you need to carefully clean the bones to ensure that nothing gets damaged before assembling a complete prehistoric skeleton. Manage your know-how using the portable in-game tablet and become a world-renowned paleontologist.

DESIGN YOUR OWN MUSEUM

After your dinosaur skeletons are complete, it’s time to customize your museum. Arrange the interior, grow plants, and decorate the building with various displays. Design your own prehistoric diorama. Choose all the elements for the set, from small plants to rocks and even types of soil. Arrange dinosaurs to create thrilling, dynamic settings and give them life to stoke the imagination of your visitors. Become a truly brilliant curator of your own private museum!

Jurassic World Evolution

Jurassic World Evolution

Jurassic World: Evolution is a game that is stilted, sterile and constrictive in its park building gameplay, level design and soundtrack. Being a spiritual successor to 2003’s Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis, it somehow manages to come short of doing certain things better than its predecessor even with the impressive and amazing visuals, increased dinosaur roster and DLCs.

Its park building management is incredibly shallow and the game feels largely incomplete despite the current dinosaur roster size and especially without the DLC packs.
