A Night Before the Deadline

A Night Before the Deadline

This game was more than I was expecting. The atmosphere from the audio in game puts you on edge, the “story” (though I called it early) was something new (although very short). Took roughly 25 minutes to 100%. While the walking is rough and awkward at times, the sprint is bae.

Overall, it was very short, but definitely made me feel uncomfortable with the atmosphere. The mini games were different, and it felt like a good start to something!

A Night Before the Deadline

Enjoyable for the short time on offer, with just enough variety to keep it interesting. The controls are terrible and the searching is a little tedious. I’d maybe recommend it in a sale.

A Night Before the Deadline is an adventure game set in the IT department of an office block. The deadline for an important piece of software is due for completion tomorrow, and Joe must stay late to complete the work.

Catch a Duck

Catch a Duck

Simple but tactful game of mouse and cat chase puzzles.

Requires some quick thinking, good reflexes and patience.

Cheesy voice acts.

Clunky controls and very sensitivity at times around ‘corners’.

Eating number of ducks achievements, required to be ‘in one single game session’.

Was decent.

Catch a Duck is a cute little action-arcade game with 25 levels and 5 bonus levels, offering a couple hours of gameplay. The graphics, music, and SFX are appropriately stylised and consistent throughout, and it does achieve a feeling of being a sly fox: chasing down rabbits into dead end passages; luring wolves and bears into traps; tricking hunters into shooting at each other.

Unfortunately, the game is also very flawed: mostly in minor ways that are needlessly annoying or confusing. For example, you can’t navigate the menus using a mouse. That seems like an oversight.

you want to play a randomly generated runner game? this one is the perfect fit. you gain abilities, based on how many levels you’ve beaten and how many coins you’ve collected, to be able to purchase better versions of your abilities. like more hover time, a doublejump recharging more quickly, a jetpack or being able to shoot more bullets in the shooting sections. progress feels great! and the 3 castles are HUGE. was very fun to explore and play through those, but be sure to have all the necessary upgrades for it, otherwise you won’t be able to complete them. you unlock abilities before you hit a dead end, usually these abilities allow you to clear the castles. sometimes i’d say it is better to upgrade these abilities a bit first, as that will make the castles much easier. so play until you hit the gate, before you do the castles. that worked very well for me.

Nary

Nary

Looking though my library one day, I realize I have a huge backlog that I need to go though.

So from

https://www.howlongtobeatsteam.com/#/auth/76561198089299679

I sorted my games for which game I can finish fastest. IT’s not always accurate but it did help me go though many games.

On that website Nary was listed to be completed for 0.5 hours. So I installed the game and gave it a try.

I was tricked! This Nary is a certain sonic hedgehog in fox custom. You are an ever running fox that need to jump and kill enemy will try not getting killed by walls and enemies. The game is lighting fast and extremly hard to play. Even on the easiest difficulty it took me many many tries to final complete it the first time.

Quite a good game. Good engaging gameplay, great music. Doesn’t waste much time and gets in to the gameplay right away. Short and hard but also rewarding and fun. Ending ham-fisted “story” was pretty funny, reminded me of final fantasy 1. Whatever crap controls the other comments talk about has been patched and it controls great. For the extra game modes, a decent few were pretty crap but most were fun options to play with. I don’t know why there’s any other bird choices besides glitch though, aka 420mlg rainbow bird. For two dollars I definitely enjoyed my time with this game and would recommend it.

I really like the idea of isometric dungeon crawlers. The person placing the traps and possessing the enemies is also great, however even with this patch some enemies still feel very weak or very slow. A single player can easily out weave around them all. On Aegis map, enemies can spawn hidden behind a wall which makes picking them difficult as you still can’t switch between them while in control.

Also while I had no troubles making a lobby as the defence, for some reason why I see a lobby to join as a runner, it boots me back to the menu.

Dude, this game is REALLY solid and polished. The multiplayer aspect and how the game functions is a joy. It has all the fun of a tower defense AND the asymmetric aspect is really a unique combo. I could see this game becoming a THING with more development.

Air Bounce - The Jump ‘n’ Run Challenge

If you enjoy 3D platformers I would definitely recommend this game. It’s nice and short with a really low price point. Seems like a really good speed running game, the controls are pretty well done and you even have great control over your character in air. For only $5, this game is absolutely worth it.

When was the last time you played a game you liked very much? Enough to play it for hours without stopping?

Personally, I had an unforgettable experience with this runner I haven’t had in a long time. Every level is like a new life. Beautiful locations, awesome gameplay and a lot more in this game made my evening enjoyable.

There is no adrenaline and drive here. But there is enjoyment and tranquility here…

I Hate Running Backwards

I Hate Running Backwards

As a huge Croteam fan boy, i confess i bought this game kinda blindly, knowing it had serious sam messy action vibes, but havent a clue about the gameplay.

And what a good surprise. The gameplay is quickly understood and you’ll find yourself wanting to play once more, each time you loose the game.

About the gameplay itself, it is difficult for me to compare to it to something. The screen is moving downwards and loads of ennemies will come to you from the bottom of the screen, while obstacles, weapons and bonuses will come from top. Levels beeing generated rather randomly, each game will be different, you will not find the same weapons from game to game, and level uping your character will never go the same way, as you have to choose one from three random upgrades each time you level up. Your level beeing remived each time you loose. One run you will be tankier with special weapons upgrades, the next time you went for a quicker character with dodging abilities.

I’m a write a review for this game, trying to be completely honest. Here goes:

Graphics:

  • graphics are very good, very ‘tunable in options, but the art style is not my preffered one (blocky characters, cartoony shaders etc.. ). Effects are really nice, composed out of many smaller effects to grant big ones (which looks very nice). The only con i have is the collisions polygons (which are technical but a good eye can see them), sometimes a thing hits you or kills you without even touching you (even though you are close). Not a big issue since you have to git gud and you can avoid it all. I’d rate graphics 8/10, even though they deserve 9/10 (due to me not being a fan of the artstyle).

Switchcars

Switchcars

Switchcars is amazing. It’s fun, has an interesting concept, and with the new update, you can let your imagination run wild and create any car you want. I recommend taking a look at the tutorial for creating cars though, because when you got that down, you’ll never want to stop making cars.

Playing the run mode is adrenaline inducing and addictive. You have to travel right as far and as fast as you can before the aliens catch up and try to kill you. It makes you use strategies and tactics, from fleeing with an airplane to blowing them up into a million pieces with a tank. The game also has 1000+ vehicles to collect (and that’s before mods) and multiple game modes, such as the run, hardcore, free ride, and the newly introduced rally mode, which requires you to travel as far as you can from the start with a time limit. Don’t worry, you have 3 tries to get as far as you can. :)

Steam recommended this game on release day so I checked out the videos and it looked interesting. Over the course of the next week I watched a few let’s plays which looked better and better, and saw how active the dev is with answering questions - you can see the guy’s passion for this game, and he alludes to some really cool future features.

Realizing this is early access, I am having a TON of fun with this game. After splattering my head a number of times during the first hour, I find the game is pretty easy to learn. Once you understand the controls it’s a matter of experimenting with the mechanics to optimize your game play, but I feel like mastering this game still takes long enough to keep you coming back.

Phantom Abyss

Phantom Abyss

Would you like to run through temples, collecting gold, getting blessings from statues to improve your run, gather whips and relics to fill your collection hall? If yes, I recommend.

If you on the other hand like tight controls, feel like you’re in control of your deaths, a game with mechanics that are consistent, performs well under pressure, has a wide variety of whips and relics, then no.

So here’s my biggest issue with the game. Its controls.

After +49 hours of this game I still close it down for the most part in anger as I do not feel like my death was my own fault. Cleared the inferno temples for all the red whips already, so it’s not just a lack of knowledge around rooms/traps. The anger can come in a couple of different ways.

Phantom Abyss is a roguelite action-adventure.

Usually, I write fully fleshed-out reviews and explain the game but since most people will know what this is about, I will keep it short. The review will be updated if I feel the need to after playing more hours.

Basics

You need to defeat five levels of a temple to get its relict. Only one guy or girl can beat a temple, then it’s closed forever. When you try a temple, you will see up to 10 other people trying and dying. You can get chests with gold, which will let you buy special abilities or more health on statues.
