1984 Rewired

1984 Rewired

1984 Rewired is a Fun game at a reasonable price. It seems pretty polished, but I have found some visual bugs when playing. Keep in mind at the time of me writing this review it is still in early access. I’ve sunk 3 hours into this game on the first day of buying it before i got burnt out and needed a break. Overall, I would recommend buying it if you are looking for a fast paced high energy game with a unique look. This game is also perfect for speedrunning or to have in the background of a commentary YouTube video.

Good fps platformer with a ton of content.

Worth the 8 bucks for sure, doubly so if you’re a completionist.

NEON STRUCT: Carrion Carrier

NEON STRUCT: Carrion Carrier

As the only active speedrunner of the original Neon Struct this was right up my alley. It’s a very different game to Neon Struct and a much smaller game in comparison, but a great effort for a free game jam game and it’s heaps of fun once you get enough upgrades.

Run, jump, deliver! The game is fun and it’s great to see another Minor Key Games Game. He could easily have charged money for it.

The only thing that is a bit of a problem is the performance. I have an RX 570 and am running this game in 1440p. Sometimes it drops in the high twenties - most of the time it runs smooth - but I get regular in 40 fps territory. But honestly it’s just a nitpick in the end.

tl;dr: The game is good, the game is free, performance could be a bit better.

Coral Quest

Coral Quest

Very simplistic game that was obviously designed for phones. A 3rd person runner game where you move your fish on a 3x3 grid collecting shiny objects while avoiding obstacles. Cosmetics are unlocked along the way while you also accumulate currency that can be used to purchase additional characters or accessories.

A cups-and-balls game is presented between levels to win additional currency, as well as almost depressing facts about plastic pollution.

There is some variety in the level design with new environments and obstacles, but it does start to feel like a grind pretty quickly. A nice game to play while listening to music or a podcast.

Game is simple but cute. Young children will probably enjoy the game and the ability to change what fish they are.

I really enjoyed this game. It is fun and becomes fast paced as you play. I would recommend playing.

Sucks. Crashed, and refused to close. Also, this game is vastly worse than it presents itself. You gotta click the viruses that spin and fly at you like missiles. And the anti bodies don’t do nearly enough, even upgrades. Over all, horrible game.

FOTONICA

FOTONICA

FOTONICA is an adrenaline rush, at the very least. A high speed running game with one button as the sum total of a player’s control. Don’t think of that as a limitation. Quite the opposite. Since this is first and foremost a sensory experience type of game, deriving much from little, it would be unfortunate if even the smallest part of a player’s attention were taken from the screen.

The player, as “runner”, travels very minimalistic landscapes. Some are vaguely identifiable, such as rooms in a sort of building. (The more identifiable the terrain, the faster landscapes seem to go by as the eye/brain connection struggles for context.) The runner also jumps, but I hesitate to call this a platformer. It does have platformer characteristics, such as the pink dots one attempts to acquire by contact. And the varying size and levels of platforms. Some game levels, in fact, are almost entirely platforms. These are generally the more difficult; as players struggle to attain the secondary goal, SPEED.

FOTONICA is a first-person platforming/running game developed by Santa Ragione. Become one with the speed of sound while you try to survive each level on every difficulty and try to beat your previous highscore.

Mirror’s Edge™ Catalyst

Mirror’s Edge™ Catalyst

One of the main reasons why I finally laid my hands on Mirror’s Edge Catalyst only in the end of 2021 is that I laid my dick (metaphorically, of course) on the first rule of the multimedia consumer: never trust other’s opinion. There were so much hate, so many complaints about this game—and while I still love the original Mirror’s Edge, I thought Catalyst was not worth my attention, since so many people said it was a total crap. Besides, there’re always many other games, so I can’t say I was bored or have been missing Faith so much. But finally I bought Catalyst, mostly thanks to many ASMR videos on YouTube with amazing views and sound ambience from the game. And you know, I’m not dissappointed. Not a bit. Certainly, I understand that a pure parkour game can be not very satisfying, especially a year after Dying Light came out. But Mirror’s Edge never was a complex multi-aspect game—it was always a stylish speed running entertainment with an amazing audiovisual component. It’s simple by its nature, and that’s really good, when you just want to switch your brain off and relax, while getting aesthetical enjoyment.
