A Night Before the Deadline

A Night Before the Deadline

This game was more than I was expecting. The atmosphere from the audio in game puts you on edge, the “story” (though I called it early) was something new (although very short). Took roughly 25 minutes to 100%. While the walking is rough and awkward at times, the sprint is bae.

Overall, it was very short, but definitely made me feel uncomfortable with the atmosphere. The mini games were different, and it felt like a good start to something!

A Night Before the Deadline

Enjoyable for the short time on offer, with just enough variety to keep it interesting. The controls are terrible and the searching is a little tedious. I’d maybe recommend it in a sale.

A Night Before the Deadline is an adventure game set in the IT department of an office block. The deadline for an important piece of software is due for completion tomorrow, and Joe must stay late to complete the work.

Catch a Duck

Catch a Duck

Simple but tactful game of mouse and cat chase puzzles.

Requires some quick thinking, good reflexes and patience.

Cheesy voice acts.

Clunky controls and very sensitivity at times around ‘corners’.

Eating number of ducks achievements, required to be ‘in one single game session’.

Was decent.

Catch a Duck is a cute little action-arcade game with 25 levels and 5 bonus levels, offering a couple hours of gameplay. The graphics, music, and SFX are appropriately stylised and consistent throughout, and it does achieve a feeling of being a sly fox: chasing down rabbits into dead end passages; luring wolves and bears into traps; tricking hunters into shooting at each other.

Unfortunately, the game is also very flawed: mostly in minor ways that are needlessly annoying or confusing. For example, you can’t navigate the menus using a mouse. That seems like an oversight.

Sola

Sola

Is this world a dream or reality? Running, jumping and falling feel real enough for our prisoner, but the feeling of déjà vu is almost too common for this not to be a dream.

Traverse through various areas and avoid obstacles to help the prisoner escape into another (hopefully better) world.

Features

  • 3rd Person 3D Runner-Platformer with Exploration elements

  • Play as a prisoner trying to escape into another world

  • You can only run and jump, but don’t expect the game to be easy!

  • Multiple unique areas, each with different atmosphere and obstacles

  • Saving exists, but in a very limited form: You have to explore and find one-time use Sigils to save a location

Barking Puzzle

A game that somewhat resembles Mario, and other similar games in which it is pleasant to kill your time. I would like to see a variety of characters and “awards” that they select in the future. 8/10

The Botanist

The Botanist is a brand-new 3D Platformer with a bit of an exploration element built into it. Mixed with its simplistic gameplay, the game also comes with a decent story.

Initial thoughts after checking out the store page is that the game looks like it would be enjoyable. Having played it, I can say that the game ran just fine although the art style is not my favorite.

Here we have a maiden venture into the world of gaming by **Ghost Entertainment**. They have attempted to tap into a rather challenging market that is filled with many fan favourites and classic titles. Most of us "Veteran Gamers" will recall the _PS1_ as the firm favourite for early 3D platform adventure titles, yet here we have a game that is reminiscent in both style, graphics and difficulty as many of those games that we all played years ago.

This short game allows you just enough challenge across its levels to keep you interested throughout. Game mechanics are added and adjusted at different stages to keep you thinking, and though they will not beat most competent players, they will still ask that you maintain composure, and it will test your patience.

OK, this game maybe only got like 40 seconds of actual gameplay, BUT the music is a total BANGER!

Pretty cool parody puzzle, very similar to Pac-Man. The game is very interesting, has a good graphic design and pleasant musical accompaniment.

I recommend to play the demo first. I feel OK supporting the effort that went into this, but TBH I felt I wasted my time. It made a bad first impression on me - the game opens in a small 3D hub with moveable camera and movement you can control, then moves to the first "level" which abruptly switches to fixed camera 2D and introduces some "charge to jump" mechanism, after which you're dropped into a simple maze (which your very slow movement speed turns into a 4-10 minute swamp), then the first of the 3D platforming sections.
