Earth 2140
The use of ‘nostalgia goggles’ can be dangerous. They can cause a person to overvalue the significance of a cultural product based on distant memories.
Well, I’ve never played Earth 2140, only its demo back in 1997 as a kid. Command & Conquer has already been out for a long time and Red Alert was on its way. Compared to them, Earth 2140 looked stunning with its detailed SVGA (640x480) graphics (just for the record Warcraft 2 also had SVGA graphics, which was released 1 year prior). All its shortcomings were overlooked since it was just a demo. Unfortunately little has changed compared to the demo, the full version of the game has the exact same problems encountered back then. And by adding the fact how obsolete the gameplay of ‘real-time strategy’ games (‘wargames’ is a better term for this genre, since they don’t really require strategic skills) became ever since, this game as of today is a complete disaster.

DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME!
I have spent enough time to know that this game is truly the worst RTS game I have ever played.
Good points:
The graphics are okay as it does not look terrible but I only say okay because the graphics are pretty awful in the CG scenes which is to be expected but there is a difference between trying and laziness and it fits the latter.
One song was genuinely good in the soundtrack, when this song came on, I never wanted it to leave as it is catchy and has that RTS feel to it.

Five Nations
A nice up-to-date looking 2D RTS like AoE2: Definitive Edition or C&C Remastered,
neat homage to Base Build Space RTS like Star Trek Armada 2 or Conquest: Frontier Wars.
Despite the game was made by a team of 2 people, it does rival AAA products.
While it does lack Multiplayer, Story and Single-player Skirmish are very well done.
The game has a really good Wiki page and Demo version on steam.

Five Nations is an impressive real-time strategy game that borrows action and gameplay elements from many of the genre’s classics. The game has a very deep and complex base build alike Age of Empires, where you have to care for 4 different resources, also the unit population. The map terrain has an interesting variety of open space and white nebulas where units can hide, but not use their abilities and are slower, also there are areas that do damage units if they try to pass them like red storm clouds.

I think its by sheer luck that I found this game. Someone on twitter just randomly brought it up and I got curious and looked it up. I first tried the demo and was very surprised!
For a small studio and their first game this is a REALLY impressive RTS! It does so many things well that alot of AAA RTS’s seem to struggle with. There’s a few blemishes here and there, but overall I am surprised at how polished and well designed all the mechanics are, and the factions feel very finely tuned to fit perfectly in a competitive scene.

Iron Marines
Overall
• I really enjoyed this game. For their very first RTS game, Ironhide did an amazing job. In the future, I hope they make more games like Iron Marines!
• For this review, I tried to create categories to make it easier to navigate. I wanted to give a thorough review and make sure I discussed each aspect of this game.
Set Up
• This may not be the norm, but I have enjoyed playing this game on Steam using my MacBook Air laptop.
Worlds
• I really liked the first 2 worlds (Sagan-1 and Ascendaar), but thought the third world (Borealis) was just okay in my opinion.

This indie developer made their name with the excellent tower defense “Kingdom Rush” series. Now they decided to move on to “unknown” territory. Iron Marines is not a tower defense game. It is an RTS, but not a Starcraft or Command & Conquer clone. It is designed to be played on mobile devices originally, so the amont of units and buildings to manage is very scarce. Not to say that the game is simple, things get tough in impossible difficulty, and you have to know the mechanics very well to face the challenge that is presented.

Games good, solid idea and great support for it. Lacking in features (Some of the in-game buttons DO NOT WORK YET, DO NOT BE ALARMED), but the game is hardly a month old (publicly) and has amazing progress for the little time its been out.
Small issues such as graphical errors (such as Militia shooting their guns while pointing them to their sides.), AI bugs, and the aforementioned features lacking, do exist.
missions are small, packed, and quick if you know what you’re doing. Minimal issues, some dialogue could be worded or fleshed out better. (Such as showing the player how Conversion works as a Zombie.)

American Conquest: Fight Back
I remember playing this game a long time ago, when I was a kid. I really enjoyed it back in those days and I still do now. When I was younger, I almost exclusively played random skirmish maps since I did not always fully understand the mission objectives in the campaigns.
After some years I picked it up again and I decided to finally give the campaigns a try. After completing all the campaigns and some of the extra missions and battlefields, I feel the time has come to express my thouhts in a short review.

After feeling the old times again, I thought i help the interested people with this review, a bit out.
Alright let’s begin with the basic informations about this game.
American Conquest: Fight Back is the standalone add-on for the “American Conquest” the RTS succesor in year 2002. (Fight Back was published one year later [2003]). The Ukrain developer “GSC Game World” (Who also developed the famous Cossacks games) set a great step towards the massive fights in RTS games, we currently play. With a limit of around 16.000 Units on the map, a big step was made.

American Conquest
When it comes to strategy games, this is probably one of the best you can find. For its time the graphics and gameplay are amazing. The different civilizations you can play require different kinds of skill levels. Though it can sometimes feel like the game is a bit unbalanced. (Britons fight with guns and mounted musketeers, Aztecs fight with bows and spears). By having the opportunity to mass up a huge army of spearmen as a native American against a Briton that can only have a limited amount of musketeers, you can still fight quite a fair battle. The campaigns are also really well made. The maps look absolutely beautiful and the kind of strategy you’ll have to apply to each campaign can get you some more variety than just a random map game. There’s definitely plenty of stuff left for you to find out when you’ll start playing this game. You’re going to love it if you’re into strategy games (like me ^^).

American Conquest!
American Conquest. Back when it first showed up around 2003; I was quite young and I didn’t understand “strategy” games but somehow this game kept me playing it, if It was the campaign or fighting against the A.i and even on the editor mode. I never made maps, I just spawned Units and played for hours and hours on end
Skip to a few years later(this year) I’ve came back to love this little game again after all this time.
Playing the Campagin is all fun and it helps you get used to the controls and different units. Options are there for you to change your mouse and scroll speeds and the Game/Music volume sliders are serviceable but has no options for re-binding keys.

BlackChain
Great game. Pathing and controls are super smooth. It is incredible that this is made by a single person. Only in terms of features, you notice that it’s just a single dev. It is only one race and multiplayer is only possible through LAN (virtual LAN for online play) and 2v2 still has some issues with desyncs. But everything that is in the game is unique and high quality. I really enjoy the micro in this game. It has a bit of a modern Starcraft: BroodWar feeling but it is still quite different. With the low price of only 4€, there is no reason not to get this game. The AI is pretty good even without cheating and tries to actively hunt down your workers with air units for example. The dev deserves the support so he is able to create more content for this. (I have received the key from a giveaway which has nothing to do with the dev)

Review by Gaming Masterpieces - The greatest games of all time on Steam.

Real-time strategy, once the second most important genre after FPS games, is dead, isn’t it? While the few releases of recent years were mostly below average, there are some exceptions. This is one.
Great indie real-time stragegy game, heavily inspired by the seminal Starcraft. Build structures, build units, mine ressources and crypto-currency, wipe your enemies off the map. Fully voiced units and 12 campaign missions (all unlocked from the beginning), even a network option. Great little game - what a nice surprise!

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Uprising
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Uprising Review
I’m a fan of the Red Alert series, I still remember playing the very first RA back when I was like a kid, And now there’s this, RA3 Uprising. Whether playing with people through the co-op campaign of Red Alert 3 or the single-player aspects of Uprising, it’s all insanely fun. And that’s mainly what I want from my games: fun. I also think this was the last C&C in terms of having fun. I guess EA really knows how to ruin a franchise.

Red Alert 3 is a game I keep coming back to. It features all the good things that RA2 brought to the table all those years ago. It has hammy over the top B grade acting, units feel unique and have their own charm. You can tell that the makers did put some love into every unit, and into making them fun to command.
RA3 has greatly expanded on the naval warfare side of things, allowing almost all buildings to be built on the water and having more amphibious units in total. No longer shall your assault destroyer be confined to the waters, just drive it up onto land.

Cossacks: European Wars
BEFORE YOU BUY THIS GAME THERE ARE KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH PERFORMANCE, YOU SHOULD LOOK AROUND THE WEB FOR SOLUTIONS IF YOU HAVE THEM YOURSELF
Once I managed to get the game working it was great to re-live the experience of playing one of the best RTS games I know of, nice graphics and simple enough to pick it up, though with some bugs in the game that the programmers never corrected. Cossacks European Wars is great for 1-2 hour sessions, the campaign is pretty tedious and unforgiving however, a simple mistake or a bug from the game could cost you the entire match (Though they do give you the option to load and save whenever you want). It’s great to build up your colony with peasents, extract resources, form a big army (Building one of these asap is crucial for defending your small village so it can grow into a major threat to the enemy) and it’s a great historical game that can really teach you about the many facts about wars in the past couple of hundred years, the strategies they used and what each nation looked like back then.

Much like Shogun 1, there was nothing quite like Cossacks when it first came out. An RTS in the age of pike and shot (still an EXTREMELY rare setting for games) where you could have literally thousands of troops on the field. I played this one a ton because it was so much more interesting and different than anything I had played before it. I don’t even think I ever got into the single-player campaigns of this games, too wrapped up as I was in setting up random matches with the AI and engaging in great battles.

Cossacks II: Napoleonic Wars
Despite all of this disappontment by small maps and less number of features, on which complains fans to, i am enjoyed by this game. It is real hardcore strategy where skirmish battle may continue for a two hours and more on easy mode. Because computer uses skilful tactics and advantages of landscape. Because you must think about resorces constantly: in any moment you may deplete gunpowder and your brave infantry will be beaten. Many fans moans about graphic, it look good for 2D nonetheless and game have perfect animations, especially of reloading infantry weapons - it is awesome

About all the negative commentars, I would say one thing, thats right! THANK yOU STEAM FOR SUCH A GIFT… . It was a buggy game on a CD and on the Steam its the biggest crap. The game doesnt have the internet server anymore. Skirmish: the combination by Russian (I played) vs England is broken. They are friendly, and you cannot attack them ._. Well at least the campagn doesnt work: first mission ok, second, The game says no ^^. The game crash, and after you try to get in again, your saves are all lost. Well 10 point for such a full game. No seriesly patch that online button out, and dont give the players the game-codes, or even dont sell it^^.
