Death and Progress

Death and Progress

I really liked this game. The only thing is the bit with the conveyrbelt could glich out the contols, she was walking without moving her legs at one point when she got off. Otherwise pretty good game. Not too deep story wise but defenly fun gameplay, and I really liked the mechanics of how they incorpated the deaths.

A short game worth the money.

Overall a really nice 2D Game. Only thing I would criticise are the 1-2 parts in the game where you need to avoid enemies or deal with them in a certain way but the controls aren’t that tight. This can be a bit annoying at first but never the less a really nice game with a pretty story and some not too difficult riddles.

Great art and sound effects + addictive gameplay + difficult = I’m surprised at how much I enjoyed playing this game. I thought it was another rpgmaker game, but it is so much better than the 100s out there. Pick 1 of 3 classes to play, save points are scarce. Easy to play, but hard to master. Another RPG I need to finish.

Tower Of Heresy is an RPG Maker title with a surprising amount of depth. The poor resolution and graphics are downsides, but the real-time combat and strategic elements make it worth playing. 6/10

Story

Selena and Shirley must journey to the fallen Kingdom of Askhar to defeat the source of the Darkness, or demons will eventually become too much for their village to handle. While Selena can receive blessings from the Goddess of Light, Shirley is a practitioner of dark magic and is disallowed from entering holy places. However, she can increase her powers by corrupting in soul in the Dark Sanctuary, a place that functions as a sort of shared spiritual world for all dark magic users.

Mad Father

Mad Father

I got hooked on these games in high school after playing IB. I’ve always enjoyed Mad Father, such a beautiful art style. (✿ ♥‿♥)

In this wonderful and lavish house, what could go wrong? You play as absolutely adorable 11 year old, Aya. She wakes up at night and hears her father scream in terror. Instead of calling 911 or attempting to escape, she instead goes to investigate the basement where he is always working.

It’s a cute but spook spook puzzle game. It’s not going to give you nightmares but the atmosphere is incredibly chilling. I found myself questioning humanity after this.

A pretty well made story about mental health it’s well written there’s not a ton of grammar/spelling mistakes which usually plague most RPG Maker games I’ve played so that’s a huge plus. The game does a great job of executing the narrative that some things you can’t come back from in a dark serious tone. Definitely enjoyed playing through it and all the best to the creator in his future games!

If anyone wants to watch my playthrough of the game, here is the links to it! I’ve got it split into 3 :D

I absolutely adored this game, even after re-playing it numerous times (Cause I didn’t make enough save files originally lol) And I wanted all of the endings. It was such a masterpiece, especially for a free game. To be honest, I would have paid to play this game.

Moonchild

Moonchild

Where to begin, where to begin? This like Dreamscape is yet another RPGMaker title from Aldorlea. In which I will concede this game for what it is, is pretty darn good. However this game unlike the other Aldorlea titles I’ve reviewed has one thing that is a bit bad about it, this game has no sprint. Which compounds upon this games mazelike areas rather harshly.

Despite this I find the slowness of the walk more engaging here. Since this game has a far more serious tone. And albeit its a simple story, I find it wholly enjoyable compared to super complicated ones. That and even though this is my second time through I will say that the final plot reveal at the end of the final dungeon surprised me still after trying to find any way to connect the dots.

(This game was provided by ArtificalRaven. Thanks, man!)

A story about how far a doting mother is willing to go for her lost child.

Yes, Moonchild is an RPG Maker game using several generic assets to tell the story of a mother’s love for her daughter when her daughter is kidnapped one evening. Throughout the experience, I’ve noticed some good and bad moments that have been portrayed in this title.

The combat system for Moonchild is straight forward, though you may find it on the easy side. As far as gameplay goes, my biggest complaints include the level designs (as other users have commented on) and the fact that you’re permanently locked in one speed of movement…walking. (Yes, running is disabled) For the duration of this game (about 12 hours, 15 if you’re like me and like to explore and exhaust NPC dialogue along with sidequest fulfillment), you’ll basically be exploring mazes only to find several dead ends. There’s also a dungeon late-game that expects you to realize that there’s a hidden passage at the literal beginning of the dungeon without giving you so much as a hint to it.

I got this in a bundle, tbh, and decided to play it. As of the date of this review, there is nothing here. Seeing the store page, I now see that it specifically states that there is no current choice to make. This is still early access, and incomplete, but it is interesting. The english tralslation is hilariously laughable, tho! I mean, seriously! “Am I died?” and other such gems make me fondly remember “all your bases are belong to us!” Not much to see here, at all, and the translation into english is subpar, but the mistranslation is at least understandable easily. What IS here, however, other than the translation, is flawless. The movements of the character are good, the script is interesting, as far as it goes, and looks very polished. No controls AT ALL, you don’t control ANYTHING. My only wishes are that there was an auto-continue for the dialogue, and that it was finished.

This game is pretty shit. It’s more like a visual novel made in RPG Maker. There are to many grammar mistakes and the “story” ends really fast without any notice. The only thing you can do in this game is walk throug an unending maze where the game ends without notice.

3 Stars of Destiny

3 Stars of Destiny

If you like old school style pixel graphic types of RPGs… you’ll probably enjoy this game. It’s an okay game but to be honest it barely makes my recommended list. I do love a good RPG especially on that can tell a good story and give me a sense of exploration and adventure this one just falls short of that.

Graphic wise it’s okay. The graphics are just very typical for an RPG Maker game there’s not a lot of uniqueness to the sprites and the character portraits are only so so. They aren’t bad they just don’t really stand out. The music and sounds are pretty decent but some of it is too repetitive and I have to play without sound. It’s not that different than other similar RPGs in terms of graphics and sounds.

3 Stars of Destiny is, all in all, a good game.

The game serves as a prequel to Laxius Power (freeware RPG games) and Laxius Force (check aldorlea for more info). This may or may not make the experience better for you, although I played this game before any of the others, and I loved it, so it’s whatever.

The game is a pretty standard fantasy game. The story is okay, honestly even though I absolutely adore the game, the story isn’t insane. It wasn’t meant to be insane either. This game was meant to be about how the main characters meet up, and that’s what the game showed off and did well.
