Ah, Mass Effect… how do I make this review and not sound the slightest biased at all?

1- INTRODUCTION

Mass Effect is one of those cult classic games that gained recognition due to its advertisement of being a spiritual successor to Knights of the Old Republic. To some degree, yes it is. As soon as you start the game it just screams Star Trek or at the very least any old corny 80s space opera. This is definitely one of the charms of this game. It’s more about talking and finding resolutions to problems rather than pulling out your plasma rifle and shooting every space-fiend you come across.

Mass Effect 2 (2010)

Mass Effect 2 is an adventure I will never forget.

In my personal opinion, Mass Effect 2 is one of the best sci-fi RPGs ever made, the world Bioware created is unique, diverse and wonderful, not to say everyone is hugging eachother while hopping over rainbows.

The game presents you with many moral and ethical choices, an exmaple is a mission which requires you to blow up a mass relay, but doing so will destroy a colony with over 300.000 residents, but if you don’t do it the system will get invaded by the Reapers. (Giant robots with lasers, you have to play the game to understand.)

BEST. GAME. EVER.

EDIT: I never expected for my review to get to the top of the reviews section of ME2 store page, thank you fellow gamers! That’s why I’m adding a few more things to it and separating it in sections. English is not my native language so please note that I’ll probably have a ton of mistakes here, and I also have a very limited vocabulary. I’m trying my best. Also please note that you’ll probably lose more time reading this review than actually playing the game. :)

Infinite potential, incredible progress.

I started playing this game during the indiecade demo mid-2020, and the evolution this game has been through in just one year is massive.

Pros:

  • Dev very responsive to Player Feedback

  • Lots of Character Drama

  • Interesting Events (Expeditions specially)

  • Interesting Systems (Secrets, Justice, Gatherings, Favors and Negotiation)

  • Powerful Modding Tool (Seriously, one could create a full DLC-worthy experience with it)

Addendum

Have changed review to - Would recommend.*

Only about a third of my gamer friends are big head enough to truly enjoy this game, but I know they will enjoy it immensely. I can see this one sinking hundreds if not thousands of hours into, and I’m already hopeful they go series with it.

I have a great deal of hope, if only because of how quickly the developers are acting on feedback and making solid changes. Meaningful save files now exist. There’s still a lot going on, so I’m not yet done with this review, but the nature and flow of the game are starting to make more sense.

I’ll be Honest, Easilly the best RPG i’ve played, it deserves more recognition, and i really can’t wait to see where they take the world, or more accurately where they let us take it with the next “game”

It’s gameplay is nothing to write home about, but the characters, the background lore, and the Setting are brilliant, probebly one of the only games where the characters feel genuine, and my decisions seem to make an impact, i’ve never been more invested in a game world, comming up with theories on the motives of characters and stuff, ect, which i normally don’t do, but the background lore is very fleshed out.

It is difficult to crystallise my thoughts on this game into a simple thumbs up or thumbs down because the game has some great aspects but also some out right bad elements.

The game starts off really well, you are basically playing as Captain Archer in Quantum Leap inhabiting some guy’s body. However Brother Cavil doesn’t turn up with a computer made out of LEGO to tell you what is going on so you have to try and ask people to explain things without giving away that you an imposter. The voice acting is excellent, the characters feel natural and the world building is thorough.

Omikron: The Nomad Soul

Omikron: The Nomad Soul

Omikron: The Nomad Soul has a very in-depth plot and constantly tries to break the fourth wall (whether it works or not) in order to convince you that your soul has been trapped inside the world of Omikron and that your soul and very existence outside the game is at stake in regards to the antagonist, the demon known as Astaroth. The characters you interact with in the main story are fleshed out in their own rights, some more than others. The player is able to interact with certain people at certain parts of the game and depending on what you say will determine what the character will reply with.

English Version

(Sorry, nie będzie polskiej wersji, nie mieści się. Chciałem umieścić w komentarzach ale jest limit 1000 znaków)

Omikron: The Nomad Soul is the first game of the Quantic Dream studio. It might as well be considered three games in one. For the major part of the gameplay it remains a TPP adventure game relying on the usual stuff: talking with NPCs and using items. Occasionally it switches to FPP shooter or hand to hand 1 on 1 brawler kind of similar to early instalments of the Tekken or Virtua Fighter series. It is worth mentioning that all of these are made pretty solid and none of them feels like it was forced into the gameplay without a reason (well, maybe with the exception of swimming, but it occurs 2 or 3 times in the entire game, which is acceptable).

Cathedral

Cathedral

Take part in an atmospheric sci-fi horror game and stay alive in the last stronghold, the Cathedral. Arise, develop your character, gear up, fight soulless enemies and face the mighty Baron.

The Setting

Fighting continues. The power is exercised by associated rival Barons. Their Union is relentlessly growing and wants to colonize surrounding planets.

Whereas expeditionary forces are successively occupying other planet-states located in the same orbit. Inevitably, Independent Nations are beginning to recoil from the growing onslaught. Moreover, the fact that Neuropium supersedes souls and humanity is fading away does not help.

The emerging resistance needs a leader.

The Gameplay

The Cathedral is the last bastion, the shelter. Initially, your goal is survive and look for fuel cells for the Protector. But, the Baron’s envoys know that the game is at a higher stake than you may initially believe.

Moreover, the asylum hides its own secrets. Discover them, develop your character, fight off the inevitable invasion and gain influence over the course of history.

A game that needs English knowledge.(If you try to improve your knowledge ‘+') [Localizations sucks btw, it even causes some bug exploits]

Pretty sure that a really good game in that times(I mean 2006~2012) Game actually came out in 2005 iirc

There is only SinglePlayer so don’t ask for Multiplayer (-)

This game is cannot be finished expect playing more than 70 or 100 hours(It means you cannot be bored and finish easily/quickly :) ‘+') [of course if you are trying to finish the story, it will last less so don’t piss off :)]

Line Of Defense Tactics - Tactical Advantage

Line Of Defense Tactics - Tactical Advantage

Line of Defense Tactics is a real-time strategy game that provides the player access to four characters in a squad, giving access to various items and upgrades, like flash grenades, to assist them in eliminating the opposition. The interface is relatively easy to navigate at first, with scrolling occurring by clicking and dragging (or using WASD) and actions by your soldiers are handled by either click-and-dragging from the units to where you want them to move or attack, or by just clicking on the ground or enemy and choosing an action from a radial context menu. The average level will have players moving their units from cover point to cover point, attacking various enemy units that are between your force and the objective.

-tl;dr Review: 4/10 DO NOT BUY-

Overpriced even on sale, you’ll get maybe 8 hours of gaming out of it. It’s shallow, so when you do enjoy it, just know you won’t get much more of it.

A steal at a dollar, fairly priced at $5, neutral at $10, what are you gonna do/maybe if I’m rich at $15. At $25, go ahead and buy yourself two premium AAA titles that are a year old and do yourself a favor.

(Also note -the forums are kinda hidden, (link http://steamcommunity.com/app/267220/discussions/ ) note that developer Derek Smart WILL ban you if you disagree (http://i.imgur.com/e1SZkWG.png) , /posts against the game will be deleted. He hasn’t changed from the Battlecruiser “THIS IS THE GREATEST GAME EVER AND YOU’RE ALL PLEBES!” Usenet days. :/ http://www.polygon.com/2012/11/14/3553620/the-redemption-of-derek-smart
