CHARIOT WARS
Watch intro which lasts 5+ minutes and cuts off before its' conclusion.
Start my first race, the AI pull ahead.
The AI swap positions with each other off screen.
Catch up with said AI, and they are in a perfect line, no swapping of positions.
But, still shows AI swapping positions on the side bar?
Insert confusion.
Pass some chariots - shows me in last position.
Pass all chariots, cross the start/finish line first, tells me I lost.
Insert more confusion.
Restart race…
The AI start climbing up the scenery and doing doughnuts.

After getting this game as a gift, I now want to pay my friend for getting it. I also want to pay him for getting himself a copy because I now have a seriously dangerous urge to get into a car crash. This games CPU has an IQ worse than its fps as they will slam the walls cheeks harder than Jordi El Nino. The worse thing about this though is the 5 minute intro. The only reason we all played this is because of the lore. 11/10
PS if you’re into 500cc mario kart, this is for you.

Praetorians - HD Remaster
First of all, congratulations on creating a HD remaster, looks fantastic!
Now the bitter part
The game could use something new after 17 years. A new pack of maps? Additional campaign maps? Announcer for War Chariots?
In many ways old moded version does thing better, new races and that.
Game also lacks siege maps, it’s a shame to see that not implemented yet.
Also you could’ve added a slider for the amount of units you can command.
The game wont last long if it doesn’t get mod support, that is for sure, we all know community is sometimes the best source of content and I’m certain that making this game mod friendly will make it even more successful.

Introduction
Years ago, the real-time strategy games consumed my time a lot, as I at least tried the vast majority of them. Praetorians, from 2003, was no exception, but it did not rank up among my favourites, so I was curious to see how I will enjoy this remastered version. Well, I got bored with the game during the first hours, but I still tried to find a way to like Praetorians. And while the second half of the campaign got my hopes up, it still was not enough for me to recommend this game.

Praetorians
Praetorians is a game I’ve been playing a lot lately, going through the single player campaign on hard. While the story in the campaign isn’t incredibly memorable (most of the missions are different points in roman history I believe) the gameplay itself as well as the challenge is just incredibly addicting and fun. The scenarios (especially the later ones) are challenging but fair, requiring you to think, take good positions, scout when possible. It’s a very tactical squad based rts with no worrying about gathering resources nor worrying about building up bases. It’s a game where hills and forests can either be your best friends, or worst enemies (as units that are on or in these things can’t be seen by enemy units that are not on or in these things).

I played this game growing up as a boy who loved to emerse myself in the idea of Romans, mainly due to the two nostalgic titles of The settlers IV and Rome total war. So when my Dad brought this game home I found it hard not to fall in love as the game portrays what Romans are remembered for in many little and major aspects of the game.
This game will seem overwelming at first and the fact that it is old and pretty harsh graphics to look at won’t help, especially if your new to the RTS genre. The personel management of troops is the main feature of this game as well as supplying new troops from villages that have either a barbarian or eastern theme. This works well but could be seriously expanded on. For example the only way to select troops is a drag box method. This is also fine but gets annoying when troops move indepedantly due to any stimuli. For example the troops will move out the way for a catapult and when I return to them they are somewhere else and have alerted the enemy. So some polish and rethink of coding and game aspects is needed.

Alea Jacta Est
Alea Jacta Est (hence AJE) simulates Roman-era warfare at a strategic level, and it is probably the best one on Steam.
As any good strategy game, AJE is a game of informations, and its brilliance shines the most in how these informations are acquired: unlike other “arcade” games (e.g. Rome Total War 1/2) the map does not show true data, but just a patchwork of rumors, whose reliabililty depends on factors under the player’s control (e.g. own army composition, scouting), factors out of control (e.g. subordinates' skill, or lack of it), and enemy’s actions.

Sooner or later, when playing Rome Total War, you start getting this uncomfortable feeling that what you’re doing on the strategic map is just a stage prop for pixel soldiers to run around in pretty period costumes.
Alea Jacta Est, though very nice to look at, is not about eye candy.
Instead, it gives you a very detailed strategic and operational view of what the opposing sides were dealing with. When battles or skirmishes take place they are resolved abstractly, though the abstraction gives a pretty detailed depiction of the tactical characteristics that were likely to be in play.

Field of Glory: Empires
Field of Glory:Empires is a good game and a great one when paired with Field of Glory II. I’ve owned the latter for over a year and have enjoyed it but it is spectacular now that stakes are involved. The purchase of this game is worth it just for the improvements to FoG2 as it really captures the ebb and flow of tactical battles during this era better than any game I’ve ever owned (including the Total War which IMO only becomes better for gunpowder era battles).
I could gush about FoG2 but this review is about the base Empires game and my feelings there are a little mixed. My initial impression was overwhelmingly positive but I wanted to play an entire game before fixing my opinion and I’ve found issues there the further you go into the game.

Random Selected Objectives: They aren’t random. They seem to instead be based off of a combination of geographic proximity, historical conquests, and ethnic/government type affiliation. For example, when I played as Syracuse the objectives were first the rest of sicily, then tarentum, then epirus and massalia, and finally they extended to much of the hellenic world, with the result that you create a Hellenic Mediterranean city state league. When I played as the Picts the objectives were the rest of what is now scotland, and then expanded into the greater celtic areas in northern ireland and Brittany, and then out to the rest of britain and ireland, and then into coastal northern Europe. As Carthage I got objectives to secure southern and easter spain, sicily, sardinia, corsica, southern italy, etc…you get the point. They aren’t random at all. Random would be like if Hibernia was given an objective in India or something like that. Can you tell us what nations with what objectives you are referring to?

Grand Ages: Rome
I started playing this game again recently, and discovered how fun the Campaigns are to play. Previously I had only used the Free Build mode.
The Good
Campaign System
The campaign is simple. It has a simple reward system which gives you money and talents at the end of each task, which you can then use to buy estates or upgrade your city building skills, giving you resource advantges before you move on to the next task. Quite a simple mechanic, but one which adds just enough interest to make the game long lasting fun, and which fits in well with the overall gamepaly.

Yeah i know hipsters loathe anything they find inferior being praised, but once again we should just do it anyway and enjoy their sweet succulent “not rage but really is rage they just don’t want to come out and admit because they wanna be the cool kids but not be a cool kid because it’s mainstream"should be enjoyed and feasted upon, and believe me that quote on quote CAN and SHOULD be longer but hipsters are to be mocked, not mentioned.
Now that we got that out of the way, lets continue. I find grand ages: rome highly underrated, to those who bought it and regret it, give it a chance, it’s a game you gotta break the mold with first to properly enjoy before passing judgement (and believe me, i understand not everyone has to like the same game, and it’s okay if you just simply dislike grand ages: rome, to each their own after all.)

TLDR: CHECK OUT my 2021 VIDEO REVIEW of Rome II right here: https://youtu.be/qi6DNAHwIK0
FINALLY reviewing this game after almost 900 hours and over 8 years of playing. If you’re willing to pay for it, especially on sale for cheap, there is a ton of content here, likely making Rome 2 the biggest historical Total War experience out there. It definitely lacks depth in certain areas, depth its successor, Attila did a lot better. But despite its faults, Rome 2 is leagues better than it was at launch, and has honestly become a really strong Total War game in its own right.

Shieldwall
Hello Nezon.
I really enjoy Shieldwall, And here are my ideas on some new things you could add:
2 new factions including Mesopotamia and Byzantium
2 new maps Thermopylae and The Coliseum like in Formata
The Archer unit like in Formata
The Cavalry unit ( the player could buy a horse themselves and this unit would be a lot of gold maybe 500 gold)
Unit Customization like in Formata
Naval Battles Where you could buy ships like in Formata
Siege Weapons such as Battering rams and Trebuchet
Mobile siege weapons (every siege unit would take more of the popularity for example if i have 20 men and i buy a siege weapon that would take up the other 5 population slots)

I am having a blast playing this game. It’s a great casual strategy game that has a lot of replay-ability. This game is one of those “easy to pick up, hard to master” games that I get a ton of enjoyment from.
Let’s talk about what the game does well: It’s simple, the controls are smooth, and it has great core mechanics that I’m interested in seeing how they develop.
How can it improve?
Faction Variation: I’d like to see different stats/buffs for the different “commanders” of the factions. Maybe 5% increase to missile damage, 3% reduction of unit cost, etc.

Imperator: Rome
its good now, actually. i hope that someday they look back on this title and add some more content.

I spend few hours in this game and I’m glad that I bought it (but on bargin for ~20€). There is a lot more microeconmic mechanic than other games, like EU4 or Stellaris have, so it is even harder to maintain big empires (witch is good thing becouse big empires don’t last forever). Of course Imperator has some issues, but even EU4 after 8 years still has and it’s not like this bugs makes this game unplayable. I hope Paradox will realase new updates or DLCs soon (maybe after They realase Victoria 3) becouse this game have a lot of potencial.

Rome: Total War™ - Alexander
Oliver Stone’s Alexander Revisited being one of my favorite sword and sandal epics, I was looking forward to playing this standalone expansion after having finished Rome: Total War.
Big mistake; should have played Alexander before Rome’s Grand Gampaign, as this feels like another tutotial campaign with many limitations compared to the Grand Campaign.
Not only is the world map smaller (in the sense that there is only Asia to conquer but this is something we all expected), no, even the Asia part is SMALLER than its size in the regular Grand Campaign of Rome Total War!

I finally got around to playing this 2006 expansion (11 years old) to a 2004 game (13 years ago) that at the time was a true gamechanger and a “game of the year” level historical RTS game. The age is important to note because from my experience, the lack of recent patches has made the game buggy on, say, Windows 10. There was a particular bug which sometimes (maybe 33%?) led to game crashes in the transition from the battlefield back to the world map. What that meant (and because the battlefield can take a while) is that I had to do frequently crazy saves (some 2-3 minutes apart). And that’s because there’s nothing quite as annoying as pulling off a brilliant battlefield win (that you easily could have lost)… and then have to do it all over again !
