Demon Strikes Back
This is what I’m looking for after Wizard of Legends and Dreamscraper!
Fun rouge-like map, amazing combat, cool relics, virtually beautiful scenery.
Worth buying!

It’s a little buggy, but none of it is game breaking. It’s a little grindy, but possible without the grind. It’s a little game, but the ambition behind making something decent paid off.
Every enemy in the game has a clear weakness and moment to attack. Your roll is how you avoid damage, and the attacks are mostly well telegraphed. You can play as a ranged character or a melee character. I prefer the melee personally, but ranged is playable.
All in all, the game passes the time in a fun way, and that’s pretty much all you can ask from a video game.

I’d like to break the game down for you in this review. I’m gonna talk about the combat mechanics, the visuals, and the various features that make it stand out as a platformer/fighting game. When reading about this game you see it compared to Super Smash Brothers, Dark Souls, ect. The truth is that with its combined features, Abyss Odyssey does not at all play like any of the games anyone is comparing it to. So, in an effort to give you a realistic perspective of what you can expect in this game, lets get started.

I think I like the idea of a game making a commentary on microtransactions and DLC far more than I think anyone can ever pull it off. I want to really like this game; it’s got a good aesthetic, and it’s solidly built. I don’t believe I’ve encountered any bugs in my nine hours of playing the game, which is better than 99% of everything else I’ve ever played.
That being said, it’s got some real problems. I first really came to terms with this when I got to the security area, Section Five, when you get the Parkor Boots (aka the wall jump). I only had three stamina at the time, because it was only useful for the dash move, and it regenerates quickly enough that I didn’t see much reason to prioritize getting more stamina over making sure my attacks dealt enough damage. But these boots, see, take two stamina points per wall jump. I couldn’t get anywhere with one wall jump, and even after I had another point in stamina, then I learned that most of the time, the move was finicky at best, and at worst, I would end up activating a slow descent with the Helium Tank instead, which took up a point of stamina itself. Sometimes, this move was required after a wall jump in order to get to the other wall to jump again, because there’s very little repel from the wall you jumped from, but too much to just use the same wall again without blowing through all your stamina immediately. So in order to actually get anywhere, I had to have at least six stamina. The game came to an abrupt halt as I had to then go and find enough coins for such a thing, and then track down the merchant character, rinse and repeat each time I realized I still didn’t have enough to get up the wall I needed to bypass.

Rising Hell
If you’re browsing reviews and trying to figure out if this game is worth your time and money then here is a quick answer for you: YES. It’s a must have game for anyone who enjoys action packed platformers!
What attracted me when I first saw this game was its overall concept. I will keep it simple for you: you control a demonic creature who’s mission is to escape Hell. And you gotta love the devs take on Hell in this game. It’s basically a vertical tower-like place which you have to ascend in order to make your way out of this demons infested nightmare. Pretty creative in my opinion. So I guess that makes it a vertical action platformer where you fight through hordes of demons trying to ascend higher and higher.

I’ve been eyeing this game for a while, waiting for it to enter full 1.0 release. I bought it immediately, and so far, I am so, so impressed.
The core controls are simple: you have your attack, you have your jump (which doubles as a cool aerial finisher), and you have your i-frame dash. It’s simple, but it works; movement and attacking is buttery smooth, and opens up the real core of the game: the platforming and movement. The platforming and environmental design is simply wonderful. You’ll be double-jumping and wall-clinging around as you endlessly climb upwards, using enemies to bolster your height as you dodge saw blades, spikes, and burrowing thorns. As a huge platforming fan, I’m very pleased to see it have such a strong place in the core game design, especially on special zones like the Slaughter Spire, which has you rushing upwards using enemies as platforms while a row of saws rises quickly beneath you. It’s challenging, it’s frenetic, and, most importantly, it’s a ton of fun. It’s also worth mentioning the aesthetic is great, too - backgrounds, enemies, and traps are very detailed without becoming cluttered or unclear.

ReversEstory
After playing the mobile version (which is great by the way), this definitely feels easier but also more fun with some added movement options. It’s a fast paced shooter/platformer with some replay-ability and different characters each with their own playstyles and bosses. Overall, not too heavy on the bullet hell aspect.
The translations to English isn’t perfect, but still understandable and the UI was clearly designed with mobile in mind and could use some adaptation to PC/controller/mouse.

Coming from the free mobile release, I’m gonna say it right here: the PC version did not meet my expectation. I do recommend the game still if you can go past the issues, or at least play the mobile version.
The controls just hardly translate well from touch screen to controller (or keyboard). Also, since the game got no way to change your controller deadzone, it’s very easy to have the experience messed up by a very slight drift of your joystick, making your character jump in a direction even doe you want him to jump without moving.
