This is a destructive sandbox game with just enough story to keep you coming back for more!

You play as a tiny gorilla that must eat everything in it’s path to grow larger and defeat the evil general trying to capture you..

Pros

-Funny voices and sound effects

  • Bright colorful environment

-Satisfying Destruction

-Love the ability to use the enemies' weapons even when they are tiny in your huge gorilla hands after you’ve grown

Cons

-Only 3 levels currently (more content to come)

  • Sound issues- A lot of times you’ll hear a pig or cow sound effect in your ear and you’ll think it’s right behind you but there are no animals nearby.

You play as a small little monkey that has been subject to military experiments and has escaped…

But now, when you eat a certain ammount of food, you grow!

Moment method works, because you are a gorilla (trigger to “pull” the world, grab buttons to grab stuff… hold them close to your mouth to automatically eat them)

Ive played the game for a while since early release, and it has improved with every update.

Granted it still needs a bit of polish… Something i noticed is that some SFX are missing, like enviromental, and other sounds that id expect arent there. Also its very easy to destroy buildings when you are the bigger sized.

Fictorum

Note: I backed the game on Kickstarter, thus having played since the game’s alpha.

Fictorum is, in a word, wonderful. For me, it was the first experience I ever had with magic that actually feels really powerful. Magic that I can throw at a nearby house and watch it get blown to bits. But let’s start from the beginning.

In this game, you are a mage. The last mage of your order, the Fictorum. And you’re pretty mad at the ones responsible for the death of your order, and also pretty powerful. Logical conclusion, annihilate them all. And anyone that might be foolish enough to stand in your way. Or… just annihilate absolutely everything. You can, believe me.

First off, if you want a high production value game with a long indepth story, I would recommend Skyrim or The Witcher. That being said, this game has the best magic based combat I have ever seen.

Spellcasting:

Spells are customizable and modular. You have a spell tome that casts a type of spell and you have runes that you can add to the spell to vastly alter the spell’s properties. These runes can do anything from simply increasing the power of the spell to creating a familiar that casts the spell for you. For example, you can take a spell that calls one lightning ball and change it into a spell that fires 4 lightning balls that each seek out enemies while firing their own lightning bolts. You can also find or buy scrolls. Scrolls act as support spells that cannot be modified but can be applied to armor and accessories. By the way, all buildings are completely destructable and can be used to crush enemies.

I Hate Running Backwards

As a huge Croteam fan boy, i confess i bought this game kinda blindly, knowing it had serious sam messy action vibes, but havent a clue about the gameplay.

And what a good surprise. The gameplay is quickly understood and you’ll find yourself wanting to play once more, each time you loose the game.

About the gameplay itself, it is difficult for me to compare to it to something. The screen is moving downwards and loads of ennemies will come to you from the bottom of the screen, while obstacles, weapons and bonuses will come from top. Levels beeing generated rather randomly, each game will be different, you will not find the same weapons from game to game, and level uping your character will never go the same way, as you have to choose one from three random upgrades each time you level up. Your level beeing remived each time you loose. One run you will be tankier with special weapons upgrades, the next time you went for a quicker character with dodging abilities.

I’m a write a review for this game, trying to be completely honest. Here goes:

Graphics:

  • graphics are very good, very ‘tunable in options, but the art style is not my preffered one (blocky characters, cartoony shaders etc.. ). Effects are really nice, composed out of many smaller effects to grant big ones (which looks very nice). The only con i have is the collisions polygons (which are technical but a good eye can see them), sometimes a thing hits you or kills you without even touching you (even though you are close). Not a big issue since you have to git gud and you can avoid it all. I’d rate graphics 8/10, even though they deserve 9/10 (due to me not being a fan of the artstyle).

Tesla Force

Note: Updated after first patch.

I have completed the higher difficulty (game+ cycle 2) on early access. So far so good. Pretty polished EA game. I like the shoot’em up game play. As I progress, there are enough varieties to keep me interested. Basically, there are different objectives for each map. Easy to pick up. But can be a challenge to complete depends on the progression on each encounter. So far, no two games are the same. And previous success doesn’t guarantee future success. I.e. you may find one game rather easy to complete (pro tip: stick with BFG gun) but you may struggle with the next one depending on the guns you use and the perks you have got (and the missions as well).

Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” - Marie Curie

Tesla Force is a gloriously over the top, roguelite twin stick shooter and a tale of Nikola Tesla inadvertently opening a portal at the Wardenclyffe Tower and awakening the cosmic horrors while trying to provide free energy, wireless transmissions and a life of leisure to everyone. In 1916.

Let me just continue with that bonkers story for a second. Before everything goes Cthulhu, a young Marie Curie pops out of a second portal in an almost Ghostbusters uniform and yells at Tesla he kind of goofed. Tesla stoically accepts that, picks up a shotgun and one of his inventions and proceeds mowing down cosmic monstrosities and closing down portals in a tutorial mission that ends with him flying off in a mech. Now if that doesn’t sound like electric currents of fun and escapism at its finest, I don’t know what does.

Blacksea Odyssey

Blacksea Odyssey

War of attrition: the game

On a serious note: it’s, as you saw from videos and screenshots, game with shump elements (it’s closer to western type of shmups, than to a super-mega-ultra-hardcore Japanese shmup) and rogue-like elements (random encounters and loot). So how does it work in practise? Gameplay cycle is as follows:

  • kill trash monsters in their camps;

  • slay relatively big boss monster;

  • buy/sell loot;

  • repeat this until the last battle against … little bunny with a carrot-sword (not really).

Real player with 22.4 hrs in game

The game Blacksea Odyssey follows the paths of four interstellar bounty hunters who “fish” in deep sea for giant monsters. Honestly, the story may as well not be there, as it’s only told during cartrige-era text boxes, but for the amusing conversations that take place between the four hunters between missions, which if you take the time to read are actually quite amusing.

As far as gameplay goes, you control your spaceship with WASD and fire with the mouse. There is gamepad support but I would recommend not using it. I’ve tried both, and even after taking a half hour getting used to it with the gamepad it still wasn’t worth it. The controls simply don’t work.
