Across the Obelisk

If you are input deck building games and would like to play with up to 3 friends then you will simply love this game. It is so varied in all runs we had ( 30) and it is still fun to experiment with new deck ideas, improve strategies and learn from each new weekly challenge.

This game is a great little deck building game with some RPG stuff thrown in. Don’t listen to the reviews that say you HAVE TO GRIND to beat it, I was able to beat it on my third run and that was just learning what the cards and debuffs/buffs do. Plus it has co-op!

Draft of Darkness

Draft of Darkness

a fantastic blend of card based rogue-like with survival horror elements and atmosphere.

there’s a good amount of content here for the asking price (around 15 hrs+), giving you a great introduction into what this game has to offer, after playing through everything there is currently available I thoroughly enjoyed my experience from beginning to end, any issues/bugs I experienced where minor(and also easily report-able within the game).

these where only things I could find fault with,

the gear can be a bit cumbersome to keep up with(it would be nice if it was a bit more visible what gear was higher level/higher rarity, I understand there is a sort tool but I wish this could be a saved setting instead of resetting each run), the UI is however very good at providing detailed comparisons between what your looking at and what your wearing.

Very fun and genuinely unique as far as this roguelite deckbuilder genre goes. The atmosphere often reminds me of STALKER in terms its lore and world being enigmatic. If you enjoy digging around for lore and what the hell is going on (at this point with 10 hours in I still can’t confidently claim to know myself what is up.) then you will deeply enjoy this game. It may be early access but has enough content to chew to justify picking it up just to toy around with. The combat is very odd when it comes to timings but you’ll get use to it. My favorite part of this game is the flowchart. While i’m not 100% sure what all it encompasses it basically is just helps paint a better picture of what events lead into what.

Malice & Greed

Malice & Greed

I’ve currently put around 200 hours into the alpha version of Malice while playtesting it before the early access launch, and it’s a MASSIVE recommendation. I feel like I’ve learned so much about the game, but that just makes me realise how much left there still is to discover.

Malice is quite a fresh take on the Roguelite genre with a progression system that surprisingly manages to sit in the middle of Hades & Dark Souls in a way that clicks. The number of possible builds with distinctly different playstyles is actually wild, and the emergent interactions scale in a way where there is always another thing to learn or consider, even if you think you’ve learned it all. Each time you have another ‘aha’ moment and understand how you can combine the systems together in a new way, the game reveals a whole new world of what you are able to do with those systems, things you would have never even considered but make so much sense once you know it’s possible.

You know how Early Access games usually build on top of itself like a tower but without expanding itself, so you generally want to wait until it’s actually full release so you don’t get bored or worse, done with the game completely? Somehow this game doesn’t feel like that. Each major update feels like its own little game, and replaying them doesn’t feel boring at all. It does help that if you don’t know what you’re doing you will get wrecked super hard, and even if you do know what’s going on you’re probably still going to get wrecked by some very poor decision-making.

能量冲击 Energy Shock

能量冲击 Energy Shock

“A deck building card game with black & white artworks."

Energy Shock. This is a turn-based action roguelike game made by Meowtoy Games. The game is currently in early access and supports English, but there are some parts that are not translated. But it doesn’t matter to play the game itself. In particular, if you are familiar with deck building roguelike games, there will be no difficulty in starting this game.

Game story begins with black and white animation prologue. Players set off on an adventure against the dark lord. As you know, most of these kinds of games have common story settings. In other words, gameplay features will be more important. The biggest attraction of this game is in the battle. It has a distinction from other similar deck building roguelike. You are duel with an enemy on the just one line street. It is somewhat strategic and has a majestic vibe.

Real player with 3.0 hrs in game

Please note before buying that this game does not have a full english support yet!

Even for an early access, the translation is terrible: many grammatical errors, typos. Some of the lines aren’t translated at all.

The game itself looks fine, but I can not recommend it for the english speaking community.

Gamble Tower

Gamble Tower

  • Three clans to choose from, choose a combination of a primary and secondary clan to achieve different builds!

  • 20 different enemies that vary and change between floors!

  • Two main boss battles with unique mechanics.

  • Over 50 different orbs that you can modify and upgrade in different and unique ways.

  • Capture and use enemies (and the enemies’s tools and weapons) as a way to improve your deck

  • Random events, shopkeepers and interactions between each combat!

  • The tower and its content are procedurally generated between each run, no run is the same as before!

  • Gender swapping

  • And the content list is still increasing!

A deckbuilding roguelite game where you hire a hero to crawl his or her way up to the top of a distorted tower in search of treasures, while you bet and gamble against other gamblers to profit on your hero’s misadventures.

Here you have Orbs (which actually look more like gemstones) that have a plethra of uses and effects but act exactly like cards, you have things such as Summons, Equipments, Attacks, Special Orbs and more!

A variety of different kinds and types of enemies and other gambling challenges await for your unlucky hero inside not very friendly rooms, where you might find a reward at the cheap cost of your hero’s life.

You must find precious orbs and synergize them with the other gemstones available in your orb to assure your success on this expedition! Find them on chests, enemy loot and other quite… interesting places.

Each run is different in this randomly generated tower, where you might find a lot of weird NPCs and gambling gadgets, therefore, keep entering surely not suspicious doors to your heart’s content.

Born of Fire

Born of Fire

Nice game for an early access. It is playable although not release material yet.

It is quite similar to Slay The Spire, but adds the possibility to summon creatures and play PvP.

  • Good graphics

  • Free to play

  • Easy to learn, mechanics are quite simple

  • Looks quite repetitive in current state

  • Still a lot of bugs

  • Not much versatility right now in deck building, compared to Slay The Spire

For single player, deck thinning with armaments seems to be quite a strong strategy.

Coming from a competitive card game background, this game has a really solid foundation to be a great game. I could talk about how the game takes the elements of slay the spire and makes them better, i could also talk about the many unique interactions this game has to hold deep within the mechanics of the game. But most of all, the devs care. The devs seem to care what the players think of their game, are willing to push out fixes for their game ASAP. These are all reasons you should at least take an hour or two to learn the game and try it out.

Haxity

Haxity

One of my least favorite card games coming games like Hearthstone, Magic, Slay the Spire, Gwent, etc etc. Very low impact on deck building. Fun concept of having dueling players build decks to play specifically against one other person in a draft duel but the mechanics of the game make 90% of matches a rock paper scissors match of do you get to play your cards or does your opponent get to play theirs. No matter how cool of a deck you can build, either you win because you just did damage and the other player didn’t get to do anything to make the match interesting or your that player who doesn’t get to play. The only “close matches” I’ve played were mirror-like matches where both players just punched each other until the one with initiative gets the killing blow. I believe the game is still being developed while I’m writing this review so I’m sure they’re still tweaking and I hope the experience gets better but unfortunately for me that would require completely abandoning several key mechanics that I believe they want to define the game.

🌎 Overview 🌏

A unique card-based rougelike RPG that has great presentation. The cyberpunk themes are strong, but the game still needs a bit of polish and more content to become possibly one of the greats.

Spellrune: Realm of Portals

Spellrune: Realm of Portals

It’s like a hilariously broken STS. I was looking for something in the mold of STS, but this… really isn’t it. Basically, if you’re any good at games like these, you will break open the game on your first run due to its amazing lack of balance. My first character, at the time I stopped playing forever, was breezing through the game with relics that:

Stunned every enemy, even bosses, for 6 turns at the beginning of every battle.

Started enemies taking 110% damage.

Started enemies with 7 poison.

Real player with 4.1 hrs in game

I just want to say that this game is very similar to Slay the Spire & i think it’s a pretty fun game! However, there are bugs in the game like after a battle, sometimes i start back in the beginning of the map, the game says i beat the game randomly without defeating a boss, relics & potions can’t be picked up at random times & Magic orb can’t be picked at certain times. I would like it if the settings menu had more options like windowed mode & fast mode. I also would like more classes, leveling system, more music variations & more special events in rooms with “?.” Lastly, a new game plus, replay value & a lot of unlockables. I know it’s early access but I look forward to future updates & i am very confident that this game will be great!
