This game is interesting, but it severely lacks in-game information. Different robots have different reactions on blocks, and it can get extremely confusing.

Terraforming Earth

Terraforming Earth

After an unknown holocaust, you’re assigned to guide a cleanup crew of three quirky robots on planet Earth. Each utility bot has its own unique personality and special ability. All three must work together to solve procedurally-generated platform puzzles in this sci-fi rogue-lite. Each mission is ingeniously designed and completely different. Never in my life, have I seen a game that could craft such clever and unique puzzles each time you play. It’s like Blizzard’s “The Lost Vikings” with infinite and endless game-play. The developer of this game is truly a pioneer and has re-invented the wheel with a “first-of-its-kind” procedural-generation. Even the maps and soundtrack for each mission are generated for a different title and original score every time. There’s also two options for those who prefer a more casual experience. Through the story and campaign, you will unlock new types of missions, upgrades and skills. And once you’ve completed the campaign, you’re free to continue playing as long as you like, or start a new adventure. And if this is not enough, the developer has already generously provided two free expansions: “Drone Danger” and “Turret Trouble”. I’ve played thousands of missions throughout the game’s development and can highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys puzzle games and rogue-likes.

If you love roguelikes or procedurally generated games in general this is a great pick. As you progress throu the game you robots get upgraded with new abilities that enables you to solve the puzzles in new ways. The puzzle generator works great too, I’ve never seen unsolvable levels or ones that were too trivial to solve. Sometimes levels have a small part that is unnecessary, like a door that has nothing behind it, but you can just ignore those.

The story and the setting has a cool tone, dialogs give a nice breather between levels.

Tetrobot and Co.

The Game

Tetrobots are a line of small, cubic robots. Maya, a brilliant young engineer, has been given a number of damaged tetrobots to repair. She has built Psychobot, an even smaller robot, which she injects into the tetrobots so that it can repair them from the inside. Along the way she will find clues pointing to the location of her friends and mentors, Alexei and Marcus. This is a sideways-on puzzle game where you control Psychobot.

The Puzzles

There are a series of flick-scrolling screens, through which you guide Psychobot. There are various obstacles, like laser beams, collapsable barriers, and so on. The basic aim is to get to the exit portal on each level, but there are also memory blocks to collect, which unlock later tetrobots. There are various blocks lying around, which you can collect and store in your inventory. You can pick up a block if you are on the same horizontal level as it, and any distance away, as long as there nothing to block the line to it. You can also fire it out, on a horizontal level, and it will travel until it hits something. Blocks are affected by gravity.

Smooth evolution of Blocks That Matter (BTM) and its ideas.

It’s about:

  • solving puzzles with blocks made from different materials (wood, sand, glass, stone and etc.);

  • the core of each puzzle is collecting, throwing blocks, build a different figures from them or interact with level’s environment using properties of blocks’ material: wood isn’t immune to fire, sand transforms into glass (or ice / water into steam) after heating, steel is pulled by magnet and etc.

Bananas Academy’s Psyber

Bananas Academy’s Psyber

I saw the trailer for this and was intrigued at the idea of teaching someone the fundamentals of programming while being a puzzle based 2D platformer game. Played it for 1 hour and let my 12yo niece play it afterwards. She finished all the 4 chapters (4 chapters available in the game as of writing this review) and she wanted more. I was fascinated how the game kept her engaged and had her attention throughout. Being an Indie developer myself I want to support up and coming developers. I can see how good concepts like these shouldn’t be compared to titles from established developers. Truly nice work and idea on the part of this developer for bringing this concept into fruition. Looking forward to the future expansive updates or possibly new titles on this concept soon.

Okay, so first of all I’d like to start with what I liked in the product.

1. This is a very cool concept of teaching programming. I am a competitive programmer myself I regularly

attend monthly challenges in websites like Codeforces and Codechef. I remember how I struggled to learn the fundamentals of programming as none of my school text books had a proper exposure to build a base towards coding.

2. Game is buttery smooth even in my Intel HD 5500.

Here’s what I saw in the product which I feel needs more attention

Play a beginner programmer!

You can program the car to do all kinds of things.

The way of programming is very simple, just need to set a variety of built-in instructions provided by the game; however, as long as they are arranged intelligently, their combination can play a lot of unexpected effects!

Even if you are a novice, you can also manually set a fixed program to bypass the maze and reach the end!

When your program ability has improved, you can make the program more intelligent, so that they are not just mechanical execution of the program, but will be flexible simple intelligence!

What if Limbo was a robot on a spaceship? A short but enjoyable game

Planet of the Eyes is a story-driven puzzle-platformer that brings just the right level of challenge to pause you occasionally on your way to success. It’s a short but memorable trip through a weird-worlds sci-fi alien landscape. A LIMBO-like in color and with a robot instead of a young boy as the main character.

As said, Planet of the Eyes feels nearly identical to LIMBO when it comes to gameplay. To be clear, I mean that the player can only walk, jump, climb ladders, move objects, and swing from certain things. Although, these simplistic controls are arguably enough to carry interest through the rather short experience. Oh yes! By ‘short’ I mean really short, since is not going to take you more than 1,5 hours to complete the whole game (with 100% achivements) unless you really get stumped several times.

Options include buttons for music, sound effects, “autoplay” (if selected will automatically play audio tapes as you find them), subtitles, vsync, fullscreen/windowed, and display up to 1920 x 1080. I had no troubles using my Xbox-360 controller.

What can I say about Planet of the Eyes? There’s not a lot to it, whether you’re talking story line, puzzle difficulty, music, or gameplay; it’s all rather simplistic. Run, jump, bounce, climb, swim, find audio tapes, try not to die. It’s inconsistent in the fact that sometimes a VERY short fall will kill you, and sometimes you can fall three times that distance and be just fine.

Good things:

This is just a short game that you play only by using WASD or arrows. I like the idea for this game as it requires you to think how to do each room in a perfect way to get the achievements. I think the graphic in this game is ok. It is good that there are different obstacles both stationary and moving ones that require you to learn their movement to be able to avoid them.
