Atari Vault
This review is going to be an unusual one as I’m actually going to write about a game that’s ate up a lot of my ingame time so far. I speak of Atari’s 1982 Gravitar.
I picked up Gravitar in passing whilst trying the Atari Vault and my first reaction likely followed many people’s, “This… is really hard. I think I’d rather play something I’m familiar with like Centipede or Missile Command instead.” This stayed true until I crossed paths with the Atari 2600 version of Gravitar. “I remember Gravitar was hard, I’ll see how the 2600 version is.” It was actually easier in the sense the gravity was not as quick to drag you under…but difficult in that many tunnels and small gaps were introduced in the absence of sharp vector graphics. With persistence I became good at it and with preserverance I looped through the game’s four universes. I was impressed with the game and quickly returned to arcade Gravitar to see if I had misunderstood a challenging but skill rewarding game.

Update
Edit: Since an update came out to issue black screen/control issues present on release for some, I have to mention that here. So if you read a review writing about control issues, be aware that most of them are patched already.
Ping
Ever wondered if could you play Pong against one of your friends online? Loved watching Sega Fanboy Mark of Classic Game Room playing Centipede and Missile Command and eagered to do the same? Well, now you can. And it would be a huge mistake not to do that.

ColecoVision Flashback
It has a few classic games from my childhood. Only wish they would release more games on a DLC.

Command HQ
This game is an ancient DOS-era RTS where you basically have to dominate the whole world, and you can do so through production of power. You fight people using your army and you can gain allies through diplomacy and positive foreign affairs. You can also do a one on one through a modem of some sort, I’m not sure if any newer ones will do the job but an old serial modem sure will. Good luck finding an RS-232 port on your post-2003 computer.
It reminds me a lot of Shadow President, however this game is 2 years older. TBH Shadow President is better, but this game isn’t bad and I get the same feel when I play this game as I would in Shadow President.

No problems on my win 7 laptop. Another game I bought since I haven’t fixed my main computer yet. A classic strategy game, though the AI is average at best. It’s great that you can rewatch the whole game you played, through a film session and see how the AI played. I didn’t notice any difference between the hardest difficulty and the 2nd easiest. You do have the ability to speed up or slow down the game. From playing the game and watching the films, you notice that the AI doesn’t priorities oil fields or air superiority, doesn’t organize its navy into a fleet, and also leaves its unit outside of the city for some reason. These flaws in the AI cause the game to be easy. However playing the allies in WW1 and WW2 can be challenging. There is multiplayer, but for most people it is too much of hassle to set it up. The game against the AI can be relatively short, probably 1 to 2 hrs at most. I would recommend the game a lot more if the AI was better, but can’t expecting much from a 17 MB game. I do think it is a good fun casual strategy game. I give the game a 6.5/10 for this version.

Death Rally (Classic)
If you haven’t tried Death Rally Classic, you do not know what you are missing. I originally owned this game on a cd before getting the system I have now. I will add this warning. This game won’t play on the El Capitan of Mac Os X software, the closest it comes is Yosemite.
The game runs a lot smoother than it ever did on my Cd and it’s great to relive a classic. Plus there’s an added bonus for all you Duke Nukem fans. He’s one of the selectable drivers in this game and comes with his classic “Hail to the king, baby” lines when he comes in first.

Haven’t played this for damn near twenty years, so it was a pleasant surprise to find it on Steam; for free no less! Iirc, my parent’s crap Gateway had this as demoware, so I could only play a few rounds. Even so, I enjoyed the occasional break from Full Tilt.
Reading through the first several negative reviews, it’s clear a lot of players didn’t didn’t get past the learning curve. This is a game from the 90’s, so go ahead and set the bar accordingly. Here are a few tips to help you enjoy this little morsel from the past:

Fenimore Fillmore: 3 Skulls of the Toltecs
After i’ve finished the second of Fenimore adventures, i wanted to take back the very older first one, that i abandoned many time ago in its first release, now in this new remastered version it gains new shining light and value revealing to be a really solid game.
Now that i finally was able to complete it i have to say i am amazed and speechless from how good the puzzles were, i never expected this but this first one is even better than the second, altough i was stuck for few days in some nasty puzzles, after solving them i can say that altough the average level here is set on Hard, nothing is impossible or too much illogic, all has its own sense and works like a charm.

This was one of first adventures I played at the time of release in 1996 and I have good memories of it. There were some serious problems with distribution back then and today the English only copies are very rare collector items and extremely expensive (I saw copies offered for thousands dollars). So it’s good that it is available again for affordable price as a digital copy.
The remastered version was not released in perfect state with some bugs and missing features but developers do care, already improved lots of things and listen to the players suggestions.

PAC-MAN™ Championship Edition DX+
This game is absolutely bonkers, in a good way though.
PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+ is like normal PAC-MAN, only the map is rotated 90 degrees, there are tons of ghosts instead of just 4, and it’s a race to eat as many dots, food and ghosts as possible before the timer runs out.
The game is split into several boards with different structures, dot and ghost positioning, and paths to follow. None of them really feel any harder than the others, but they’re all difficult in their own way. The DLC boards are a fun addition, but I wouldn’t recommend you buy them separately from the game, since it’s cheaper to buy the full Big Eater pack and just get all of it at once.

Hello Everyone,
It is time to munch, chomp, and manoeuvre your way through another series of mazes with Bandai Namco’s notorious pelt eating ghost munching spherical maze racer, Pacman in “PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+”. This game is not your original Pacman but a new fast pace version that will keep you on the edge of your seat every step of the way.
Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+ is an arcade score attack game that takes its inspiration from the original Pelt Muncher that was first released in 1981. This time around though Pac-man has been turned into a speed run crushing dynamo taking on hoards of ghost that are determined to get in your way as you try to climb to the top of the leader. With that being said, lets begin talking about the gameplay.

Sonic The Hedgehog
I had a good time, received this from Sega as it’s Sonic Mania delay apology.
-It’s a good game, it’s not the best, it’s far too easy for experienced players, i mean, i took me a few hours max to finish this with all the 6 Chaos Emeralds.
-The soundtrack still one of my favourites, being Marble Zone, Labyrinth, Scrap Brain and Final Zone the ones that i enjoy the most.
-Gameplay it’s okay, you can do things the fast way or the “i’m afraid to lose a life so i will run slowly”.
Level desing is amazing for the time when this was released.

Old Classic From The Past
Majority of the people are probably going to buy this game only for sake of nostalgia purposes. Its rather cheap game so why not really, while i do not think its best of the old sonic games its still decent title and rather revolutionary when it comes to whole gaming industry.
Positives
-
Iconic Soundtrack
-
Great choice for speedrunners
-
Controller & Keyboard support and works well with both choices

The Disney Afternoon Collection
The Disney Afternoon Collection not only came as a welcome surprise to 90s kids, retro gamers, & speedrunners alike, but arrived just in time for the reboot of the hit series DuckTales (2017).
(Note: An abbreviated version is posted here, because the full set with dedicated reviews for every game, would go far beyond the constraints of Steam’s character limit. Links to the full reviews with references are therefore included.)
Disney, Capcom, & Nintendo
Since these old licensed games are based on old TV series, here’s a bit of context to understand where they are coming from.

As somebody who grew up with a NES and watching the Disney afternoon cartoons, I can’t really review this objectively because I’m gonna view it through nostalgia-tinted-glasses, but I’ll try my best.
First off the package:
-
This thing collects all the NES Disney games that Capcom developed and published in the 90’s. Those are DuckTales 1+2, Chip&Dale 1+2, Darkwing Duck, and TaleSpin.
-
Everything runs through an emulator. You get the standard fare of these bundles in terms of visuals which is one default border and three screen settings (4:3, Pixel Perfect and stretched) and you can use a scanlines filter so the games kind of look like they’re played on old CRT tvs.

Blood: Fresh Supply™
Of the holy trinity of Build Engine games BLOOD is arguably the best one!
TL;DR: BLOOD is fast, intricatly designed, extremely fun to play, and also really hard. The Level Design is great and the maps flow into each other seamlessly. The Enemy Design is perfect, each enemy type is distinguishable and requires a different approach, which leads to an infinite amount of possible and engaging encounters. I recommend this game to anyone with an ounce of appreciation for FPS games.
BLOOD is my favourite FPS game of the 90s and one of my favourite video games in general. It may not be as influential as Doom or Quake, but it has a special place in my heart due to its charm.

I genuinely enjoyed this 90s shooter more than i enjoyed Doom Eternal this year. ‘Nuff said.
