Kowi Ishto: Battle of Akonoli
*** RE-REVIEW UPDATE ON JULY 3, 2021 ***
The developer reached out to me via email and asked me to re-review this game after his updates and “big update 3.0”, so I decided to give his game another chance considering the number of updates this game has seen since my first review more than a year ago…
This video shows my reactions to the current state of this game on July 3rd of 2021:

In all honesty and good faith I cannot recommend this game, as I didn’t enjoy it at all, and I believe that even for a tenth of its price you could buy a better game.
If you want you can watch my first impression and some considerations regarding the game and the studio (one man team) in the following video.
I think everyone should also take into consideration the statement released by the developer on June 22nd, date that follows the production of my video, where I point out things that were then addressed by Cenokga in the following statement: https://cenokga.com/my-experience-after-first-game-release-a-letter-from-the-developer/

Stop Cats
Stop Cats is a small game, mainly designed to pass the time or beat new records. In this game, the goal is to destroy cats that are invading the city. It should be noted that this game contains some minor graphic content. In terms of game play, Stop Cats offers an “endless runner” type experience. Things to expect from Stop Cats are, pixelated not high end graphics, this game is endless, thus there is no story or story progression, and is mainly a score based game. meaning that it’s playing purpose is to beat or create high scores.
Pix the Cat
Operating on the same basic mechanics, Pix the Cat features multiple modes that could probably be presented as separate little games instead. The arguable showcase is the Pac-Man reminiscent Arcade. There are multiple similarities to the relatively recent Pac-Man Championship Editions in particular, with the whole game being on a timer, a rising speed meter and presenting a series of little boards for you to clear. And let’s not forget Championship Edition DX had those little ghosts following you in a snake-like fashion.

This game is like some bizarro version of Pac Man Championship Edition DX+, requiring many of the same skills. It’s also much harder.
The goal of each board is to grab all the eggs, then walk over every circle. A chick will hatch out of every egg you touch and start following you, forcing you to play Snake until you can drop them onto the circles and get rid of them. For maximum points, you need to pick up every egg on the board before stepping on a single circle, turning most boards into a tough pathfinding puzzle. The most creative idea at work here is the way you can take portals back to previous levels at any time, which is sometimes required for playing optimally.

Russian Subway Dogs
8/10: Russian Subway Dogs is a fun, silly arcade game of barking, snatching food out of the air, and surviving the hazards of the Russian subway like bears and chocolate bars. MOLODETS!
Russian Subway Dogs is based on a true, real-life occurrence of stray dogs in Russia using the subways to commute into the city in order to find better food, the commuting back to the suburbs for safer places to sleep. Choose from a collection of referential dogs and cats and get to filling your belly with shawarma and burgers before the other dogs and animals.

Oh c’mon this is a fantastic arcade game with a ton of charm and meat-on-the-bone. Yeah, the price is off-putting at first, but I assure you this is top quality stuff. There is a solid campaign mode that helps you learn the ropes in steps. There is an endless mode complete with Steam Leaderboards. And lots of awesome unlockable characters that are largely cameos from other indie games. It’s surprising how much great diversity they crammed in here. Finally, the pixel art and music couldn’t be better.

Aqua Kitty - Milk Mine Defender
I recently discovered and fell in love with this game. I’m going to explain why Luuthian’s negative review wrong:
I’m going to agree with his good points:
|Good:
|- Great pixel art
|- Decent amount of levels/content for an arcade style game and the price.
|- Very easy to learn and control.
and add:
-
Excellent music
-
Multiple difficulty levels, (but even easy is not casual easy.) on easy mode you have more starting life, less enemies spawn and they shoot less bullets
-
Extremely polished gameplay for its genre.

In the space year 20XX, the entire world’s supply of milk appears to have “ran dry”. This would suggest to me that sometime in the future all form of breasts will become either extinct or outlawed and force us to look elsewhere for our creamy goodness. As luck would have it for our kitty chums, though, “deep under the ocean, vast amounts of what appear to be naturally forming full fat milk were discovered”. Don’t ask me how the milk is now lying under the ocean. Perhaps all the world’s mammaries will migrate to below the surface to escape danger or persecution in the future? Either way I guess it’s only natural that boobs would eventually start heading downwards with the passage of time. But however they got there, the kitties are determined to get it out and launch an operation to mine it and send the milk gushing back forth into the world once more. But it’s not a task without peril for our hungry kitties as they’re attacked by unknown enemies who try to kidnap the underwater miners and keep all the lovely, delicious milk for themselves. “OH NOES!”, cries the kitty captain. Oh noes, indeed. So out sets a brave pilot to shepherd the miners and destroy the threat, keeping his furry brethren in one piece and saving the world’s milk(/boobs?) in the process…

Pushcat
Pushcat is a great game!!
The game is very addicting!
It is a different kind of match 3 game because you have to plan your moves and use different strategies to win the games within levels. You get coins after you match 3 or more gems but then you have to go back and collect the coins which is easier said than done. You can play a game (cave) a few times and then realize what you need to do to beat it! There are 50 caves to beat, they are all different, some have a few gems some have hundreds of gems.

Arcade block pusher + match 3 with charming pixel/chip style.
(In the trailer, the camera pans around segments of several boards from the game, but in actual gameplay each whole level is fully visible when you play it)
Pushcat matches up colored gems to turn them into coins, collects coins to unlock the exit. Action & movement are similar to classics like Dig-Dug, Mr. Do, and Boulder Dash. Pushcat can move freely in 4 directions, but blocks & coins will fall down until they either land on a surface or fall off the board. In addition to pushable gems and junk blocks, there are stationary wall blocks and diggable tiles.

U27RA R3Z0NANC3
One of the most charming games I’ve ever played! It’s teaming with humor, along with a heartfelt “tail” of two brothers! The visuals and animations are soothing and the soundtrack is top notch! (It’s also on bandcamp and Dumivid’s Youtube channel for casual listening!)
And the puzzles are nothing to scoff at! Are you overthinking that one level? Or not thinking it through enough?! (Level 7 comes for us all!) Reaching the end is a commendable feat! The journey is more than worth it to reach it!

Cats and the Other Lives
Through the eyes of a cat,
Into the memories of a family.
Following the passing of grandfather Bernard, all of the remaining members of the Mason Family returned to their childhood home once again.
As Aspen, their house cat, players will touch the hopes, disappointments and regrets of the enigmatic Mason family, traversing through a rich narrative that spans over decades.
The game embraces a simple yet intuitive point and click play style, emphasizing design elements based around the behaviors of common house cats seen around the world.
Is the cat just a witness, or does this animal have a more mysterious role in our lives than we anticipate?
Bubbles the Cat
This is a game you can simply pick up and play. Both me & my 6 year old daughter have enjoyed playing it (when she lets me). It’s challenging in a way that it keeps you addicted to wanting to play it.
The graphics remind me of when I first started playing games and it felt just as good as when it did back then. The controls are so simple too, one button to control Bubbles - which is nice to have a game with little complexity in the controls these days.
When I asked my daughter what she thought, her words were “It’s awesome”. Not much more to say that that!

I’m a little surprised myself at how much I enjoyed my experience as a cat jumping around laser beams, stalking ghosts, and numerous spike pits—who would’ve thought? Bubbles the Cat provides the template for which all hardcore platforming games should embody: tight controls, a variety of gameplay mechanics, and a polish that rivals that of AAA performers. It’s the best game I’ve played in 2019 thus far, hampered only by the all-too-common hindrances of hardcore difficulty splendor. A must-buy for platformer nerds and lovers of cats with hats. All else, be sure to tread wisely.

Gato Roboto
This game is simply great. There’s no other way to describe it.
The gameplay is fluid and challenging, specially the bosses, many of which took me quite some tries to defeat. Apart from that, this game also has a big exploration aspect. It’s pretty much what you’d expect from good metroidvania game.
The soundtrack is quite enjoyable. None of the tracks are masterpieces, but the game plays the right ones at the right time and some of them are really catchy.
The story isn’t an important aspect in this game and it doesn’t take itself too seriously because, well, it’s a game about a cat fighting space monsters in a mecha. It’s ok and somewhat interesting from time to time. However, I think the ending was weird and kind of a let down since (SPOILERS)
! the entire premise of the game is that you need to rescue your owner but you don’t do it, which makes you fill a bit empty. Apart from that, there’s nothing remarkable about this aspect of the game.

After responding to a distress signal and crashing your spaceship into the facility you planned to investigate, you find yourself pinned and unable to do anything more than give orders; consequently, a grave responsibility falls onto the shoulders of your feline friend who must set aside napping in his favorite spot and set out on a perilous trek to save his human.
Gato Roboto is a monochromatic metroidvania in the style of classic NES and Game Boy games, and it nails that look and feel. Despite appearing black-and-white in the screenshots, you’ll run across more than one dozen cartridges throughout the game world which allow you to change the primary color of the graphics, so don’t let the color palette scare you away.
