Mechsprofit: Mech Tycoon Simulator

Mechsprofit: Mech Tycoon Simulator

This game takes an interesting take on mechs. This game focuses on the civilian use of mechs. Normally mech games revolve around giant mechs fighting, but I’ve never enountered a game that featured civilian non-combat mechs before. In this way this game is unique. It’s been suggested in the forums that combat mechs be added, and the dev said he would consider it after the core mechanics are in place. But this game includes currently the ability to make mechs for racing, transportation, and general use.

Let me start by saying this game - in its current state - is not great. It is amazing, an actual gem.

Ok let me clarify that. The game, in and of itself is pretty basic - incredibly so - but its so so much fun to play. I find myself playing this game when I am frustrated with another game as this is just funny as hell to play. Wanna make a mech that looks like boobs on wheels/legs? GOOD here you are. Wanna make a mech that looks like your eyes will melt just by looking at it’s sheer monstrosity? GOOD here you are.

Mech Engineer

Mech Engineer

At last, properly hardcore and very complex survival management game, where you play as moving city’s AI. Haven’t played something that nice and satisfying in years.

Pros:

  • Mech Engineering - you decided what Reactor, Motors, Modules and Weapons it will have and for kind of biomes it will be suitable to fight. In addition, through energy management interface you can decide, what modules will receive more energy from reactor (if you have spare) and from what reactor will siphon energy (to balance things out).

it took me about an hour or two to figure out how to get my mechs started and all the tweaks needed to survive them in a fight

been playing it for a bit and managed to go a month before i got stonewalled by bad production decisions, a misclick on the calendar, and boxed into a map box where i have like two directions to go and a big monster coming to get me i guess

i would suggest making the day turn thing ask if youre sure if you want to advance a day but that’s about it

e: nvm i beat the giant monster by luck the tentacle monsters are hard and super annoying tho

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries

As somebody who played Mechwarrior 2/2:GBL/2:Mercs, 3/3:PM, 4/4:BK/4:Mercs, Mechcommanders 1 and 2, and was involved in the Mechwarrior community for years back in the golden era…. This is an acceptable giant stompy combat game.

Take command of your own mercenary company in the 31st century. Choose where to go and which contracts to accept, while being careful who you offend or favor since your reputation has a big influence on your contract benefits. Prepare for each mission by outfitting yourself and up-to three team mates from your pool of owned mechs and customize their weapons and upgrades. During battle, choose the right weapon for the right target at the right range while managing your heat output and your remaining ammo. Stay moving to avoid taking focused return fire. Follow your waypoints and complete each simple objective (generally some variation on “kill or destroy this”… battlemechs are not subtle) until you’re given the go-ahead to leave the area. Between missions, weigh your contract pay and battlefield salvage against your repair costs, crew salaries and travel expenses. Shop for new gear. And try to make enough C-bills to retire on a quiet private world some day.

A long-overdue single-player game for the MechWarrior franchise, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries shakes up the game’s usual format with predominantly randomly generated missions, although there are certain hand-crafted questlines here and there. After the tutorial quest chain (which you can skip if you have the DLC, but more on that later) you are sent off to look for a few choice contracts in the nearest warzone and strike it rich with the modest stable of mechs you have on hand. Or die trying. Wouldn’t be getting that much hazard pay for nothing, right?

Legion TD 2 - Multiplayer Tower Defense

Legion TD 2 - Multiplayer Tower Defense

Awesome multiplayer auto-battler, with a thriving, generally nice community, and ongoing development!

Stop waves of enemies!

In Legion TD 2 (LTD) you have to stop enemies that spawn in waves on your ‘lane’. The enemies give a bounty for each kill, and with that gold you can buy new fighters in between the waves. The game gives a recommended value of your fighters for each wave consisting of the total possible value that comes spawning. Depending on the type of units you have put on your lane with all their synergies and positioning, this value can be either too high or too low. For instance, a collection of only tanks (units that soak damage well, but don’t deal much themselves) will probably not clear a wave.

Plays just like the original WC3 map + much, much more, for anyone who is a fan of tower defense, multiplayer/co-op and strategy games, will definitely love this, for the developer AAG i can’t wait to see the extra campaign maps as well as potential dlc content perhaps something event based like a new boss (similar to btd6 like the bloonarius events) or endless mode with different waves to see how long you and a friend or 7 other friends can survive, there is so much potential and i cant wait to see it unfold , but as it is for its price, its well deserved of its positive reviews and again if you’re even remotely thinking of purchasing this game, as Shia LaBeouf would say, “just do it”, you will not regret it.

Mechs & Mercs: Black Talons

Mechs & Mercs: Black Talons

I have NOT played this game very much, but here is a quick review of my first session.

First impression is it’s just so so so clunky and slow.

So far it reminds me of playing through those first few missions of any RTS like starcraft or red alert stuff. You’re trying to grab helipad dropship checkpoint things to heal/resupply and little oil pumper things to earn command points to call down more of your stuff. You get your little group of infantry and go blow up things, have some floating female coordinator telling you random updates. But with only two unit types, infantry squads of 4-6 people and individual mechs. Each can have different loadouts or types.

While I’m a fan of both RTS and Mech centric games this title flat out fails to deliver on either front.

  1. The primary complaint you will see anywhere, and that I will confirm myself, is that this game is painfully slow. Even the most mundane of missions will take you much longer than it needs to as your units move at a snails pace through the board. Firefights between anything but the lightest of units are boring to watch as they just sit in one space and chip at each other’s health until one drops.
