Idle Pins

Edit 02/11/2021: Three things related to monetisation have happened. First, leaderboards have been removed. That’s good, they were useless anyway and clear cheaters mostly populated the top spots. Second, the daily premium currency (Derium) given has increased dramatically, roughly doubling over the first month. While the amounts are still very, very small, it’s something. Good job.

Lastly, I cursed the game when talking about RNG based purchases, because there is now a slot machine for the Halloween event. The listed chances are 1.23% for a good drop, 29.88% for a not very good drop, 68.9% for absolutely nothing. You also get a tiny consolation prize with each roll, all for 100 Derium. If you wanted to buy Derium it would take roughly 8,100 to get one of the good drops, costing around $20. More absurd monetisation from the developer, sadly.

This will be a fully honest and unbiased review, i personally enjoy the game as i did with the original.

Personally i consider this game a pretty good balance between the active and idle sides of the incremental community. (if you complain about the game require to much active then, simply put the game isnt made for you, as its more geared towards the more active side of the incremental community. dont expect something like melvor, expect something like realmgrinder in terms of activity) The game however isnt entirely active and does have a somewhat long waiting periods, not timewalls per say, but just waiting periods. none the less, despite the fact i prefer EXTREMELY active games like perfect tower 2, and The Prestige Tree. this game has somehow entranced me despite the larger waiting periods.

“Oh yay.” I thought; “another idler to waste my free minutes on whilst I’m busy answering my emails…”

Boy was I wrong….

Welcome to Industry Idle; a minimalistic game in the spirit of games like Factorio and Satisfactory. The game places you in the shoes of a company CEO tasked by setting up a profitable factory complex in a city of your choosing. Build a booming automotive industry in Rotterdam, go deep into IT-development in Detroit, arm Toulouse with nuclear armaments and sell it all on a dynamic market…OR your competition !!

Progress Game

Progress Game

I love this game. People are forgetting that this is still super new and wont have a lot of content. I am sitting at 90 hours on the game so far and love hitting those high numbers. To the reset complaints, I mean it only takes like 2 hours to get back to the max anyway so its not worth the stress over that. Also resets are common in alphas and betas and these children new to gaming don’t seem to understand that.

EDIT- I have hit a wall on floor 1318 of the infinite dungeon that after I beat the enemy whos health bar does not budge until death my game crashes. I however have fixed this by just going somewhere else on the map. Can’t wait for more!

As of writing this review I am level 842 and have played for ~38.2 hours.

Progress game is a game about.. Well, progressing. You kill enemies to craft better gear so that you can kill even stronger enemies. You get points which you use to update various different stats & much more. There’s currently 7 different zones to explore and conquer.

You can play through the “main game” in about 2-6 hours but if you still desire more there’s a zone with infinite amount of enemies for you to slay!

You might think Progress Game lacks content, but you have to remember there’s only 1 developer working on it, and for free!

A really novel idle idea!

I have already put some hours into it and am looking forward to seeing how the game goes.

The developers are very nice and this game definitely needs to be seen by the eyes more idler junkies!

The game can seem too easy at times then the next moment Thor’s hammer takes away all your stuff!

You can sit there and spend all your coins and try to maneuver the items the best you can, but when you come back

it’s always going to look like a crazy mess haha. It will start slow of course, but gradually you can drop more coins faster

This is a neat more visual take on relatively simple incremental mechanics… and it kinda works.

TLDR: The game has some issues, but I find myself still playing it after 5hours+, and still enjoying it.

Don’t expect this to be an incremental with tens of new mechanics to unlock over 100+ hours, it is a much more condensed experience. And if you enjoy more visually appealing incrementals, then it’s definitely worth a try - although the current price might be a tad high compared to other games in the genre based on content alone, I found it more than worth it - and especially if the dev sorts out some of the below issues it’ll definitely be justified.

Critter Clicker

Critter Clicker

Ok; I agree with reviews stating this is not a clicker game. Maybe ‘Idle Critters’ would be a better name. But I don’t agree that this makes it completely pointless and not worth the money don’t even have to spend on it.

I actually really liked it; trying to get all the upgrades and embiggen your farm is fun.

Plus, despite being a bit ‘bare bones’, once you get used to the interface it definitely has a quirky charm that I actually found far more pleasant than a lot of the more ‘polished’ idle/clicker games out there.

Real player with 335.8 hrs in game

There is nothing to this game. Great at first but once you unlock the very minimal amount of things there is to unlock that it for the game.

If the game gets a major overhaul update I will reverse this to recommend.

Edit the 80+ hours are from mostly leaving it on overnight for a few nights… really only spent maybe an hour at most configuring things.

Sure it is free but if the developer added way more stuff I would pay something for this game because in the beginning it is fun.

NGU INDUSTRIES

NGU INDUSTRIES

Over 100 hours spent, and while mostly enjoyed it, I’ve reached my limit of endless map adjustments and placements and replacements and nudging just to finally get positive balance. Until you buy your next upgrade … and boom. I just spent almost half an hour tweaking two maps to get positive flow for generating t1 & t2 flesh juices. After 10 minutes of enjoying zen equilibrium, I bought two upgrades and watched it all fall apart. Spent another 15 minutes to get things back into balance, but not before being forced into reducing the t1 & t2 income rates. What was the point of buying these upgrades then? Are they not supposed to improve things. Sigh.

Real player with 2737.9 hrs in game

So the game is in early access but I’m operating under the principle that that should not be treated as immunity from criticism. As it stands NGU industries has foundational flaws that make it less playable than NGU-IDLE that are unlikely to be resolved unless the game loop is significantly reworked, hence it’s a thumbs down from me. At the end of the day the game is free so you don’t have much to lose by trying it out but unless you’re crazy into Idle games I wouldn’t recommend it.

My main issue with the game is that the feedback loop is cyclic. Every feature is driven by resources you must grind from your factories (with the exception of BDSM), the main feature of the game, and every subsequent feature & upgrade you can unlock increases the production of these factories. To me this make the game quickly feel pointless, there are no real decisions for me to make other than what ratio I want to grind resources in and no mystery in what I might unlock since I know it all leads to more production. In some cases there are 1-2 extra steps in the loop “obtain resources - obtain resources faster”, for example arranging your beacons and factories in a way that optimizes production. This gives the game some much needed depth but it’s not enough. In the case of beacons I would argue that past the fifth time you balance your supply chain the process gradually starts to become infuriating (every upgrade you obtain will mess up your supply chain, with a knock-on effect on every downstream resource so you end up fiddling your factories constantly, never feeling like it’s worth it to optimize). If you’ve done it ten times you’ve done it 100, It’s just busy work and not all that well incentivised when the “reward” is that you’ll do it all over again when you can afford your next upgrade.
