[PLAYED ON REGULAR DIFFICULTY]

Just from the brief amount I’ve played, I’m kinda surprised that this game has been abandoned. So, for those who have stumbled upon this game by accident (maybe your friend had it in their library or you got a coupon for in from badges), here’s a quick review for ya.

A Nifty Game is a very simple 2D rougelite shooter, similar to “Enter The Gungeon” in overall gameplay. Where it deviates though is through it’s simplicity and clunkiness. Encounters are very simple as they only involve dodging and shooting, and you eventually enter an overpowered state depending on how lucky you’ve gotten during a run. Still, I’ve found myself enjoying the little spirts of battle in the game, even when the clunkiness started showing up. I’m calling the clunkiness an intended feature of the game, given how it ended. I bring it up since there will be points where you escape from the map or where the visuals will look like they’re broken. Still, I found these bits of clunkiness fine and in some aspects enjoyable. The only real problem I have with the game is the music, or lack thereof. The trailer might be chiptune, but all you’ll really hear in the game is wind.

Battle Planet - Judgement Day

Battle Planet - Judgement Day

Honestly feels like I ripped the developers off by buying this on sale, it is that fucking amazing!

I’m a huge twin stick shooter (top down shooter) guy. They’re likely my favorite genre over FPS. I’ve sunk countless hours into a whole slew of these style of games, and this game, right out of the gate, has me fucking hooked. To give you an idea, I’m sick asf right now with tonsillitis and was due to have some medication a few hours ago, but this game has an energy surge about it that I doubt you’d even get if you were to unzip and ram it through the monitor! Look Ma, no meds while I’m playing this incredibly crafted gem of a game. It honestly feels that fucking splendid that I’m lost for words. It’s everything I’ve wanted in a top down shooter. It has pizzazz that makes the game play just perfectly while being in your face hectic and hard. If I ever get old enough to need Viagra, I’ll just load up this game up and look Ma, no hands! :P

It’s hard for me to give this a Thumb’s Down because even though it is fairly tight and competently made, it is ultimately a boring game with a very flat experience overall.

You start with a heavily-neutered set of powers and skills and as you proceed through the arenas (little planets), you gather chips which you may use for permanent upgrades. Every upgrade is MORE SOMETHING. So your basic gun sucks, and then you grind away to get upgrades to it’s damage. Your jetpack sucks, and you grind away to get speed/fuel upgrades. Your speed is slow, and you grind to get speed upgrades. The core game does not have enough depth to keep a player interested enough to keep doing this and make it feel worthwhile. You’re basically repeating the same dull arenas over and again with very little to keep you interested.

Morning Never Comes

Morning Never Comes

Morning Never Comes is kinda average.

TL;DR: Decent, but has a lot of flaws.

There are pros to the game such as simple controls (move with WASD and shoot with the arrow keys) and unlike Binding of Isaac Rebirth, you’re able to shoot in 8 directions. Also, I like the creepy setting of the game which is also complimented with the enemies that you fight. However, there’s some problems that I’d like to address.

The movement feels awkward. Whenever you’re moving around constantly it feels fine; however, your movement starts off slow then becomes normal. This makes stopping your movement very slippery and makes you feel like you’re on ice. This becomes annoying because you either end up getting hit by something because you stopped moving, or you slide around awkwardly and run into something.

So for a quick answer, i reccomend this game

Now this is exactly what the description of the game says, but i also have to add in some things. I think the game is great and an aswesome time killer. Alltho the game might be a bit too short. Achievements are gotten very quickly and i think that the game doesnt have enough variety. There are not a lot of items in the game gets really predictable since there arent a LOT of different monsters, after a couple of waves into the game its not going to change a lot besides it getting a bit harder and switching your items with a different one. A lot of people have complains about how you cant avoid picking up an item, but i think this is one of the gameplay mechanics so every wave is not exactly the same. Theres a global leaderboard so you can compete with other players. You can play with gamepad or keyboard. I think it might need some updates to add even more variety to the game, like more toys and more items. I think its definitly worth the 99 cents!

Super Mega Space Blaster Special Turbo

Super Mega Space Blaster Special Turbo

Great fun little space shooter. Fly around blow stuff up, get upgrades. A few different modes. Quick to load. Just what I was looking for.

A few bugs, but very minor and not play related. eg you can get a free ship for a bit, the inventory doesn’t show descriptions right. But everything works for exploding baddies without flaw.

Assuming they fix those and do a few more upgrades, more modes perhaps,

I could imagine playing this for years to come.

Definitely worth the money

Great space shooter with a cool retro feel. Works well with my PS4 controller and has a lot to do for the price. Loads of challenges to complete, ships to unlock, and upgrade to get. Definitely recommended. Even more fun in 2 player as well.

Full review at: https://thegamehoard.com/2019/06/26/super-mega-space-blaster-special-pc/

Super Mega Space Blaster Special is shockingly good. The style of old school space shooters has been refined and evolved here into something that both captures the joy of quick score-chasing sessions while also providing progression challenges and unlockables to further motivate the player to push forward. The weapon design is excellent, every weapon feeling powerful without being gamebreaking and having their moments where they work best, the three different modes of play ensuring things don’t get stale as you can always jump between them to have your priorities and strategies shift around. Super Mega Space Blaster Special is remarkably well-balanced for the most part, only the rocky start with weak ships hurting it as the player needs some time to truly embrace the way the limitations draw out a more active, tense, and overall exciting space shooter experience.

I’ve played a fair few hours of this game and I’m still loving it.

I like retro games and this gives me the retro feels. It’s addictive because it’s challenging and you feel like you’ve earned the achievements.

You can just blast away if you want or you can also follow the challenges and feel like you ‘beat’ the game…just like the good old days.

There’s every reason to buy this game, fun, challenging, good music, varied game play and great value for money :)

Well. This developer has only one project so far, and now I will tell you what it is: Fun scrolling shooter, action, roguelike by the way is not quite simple at first glance, in which the range of a large Arsenal of weapons accompanied by different sounds and effects. What is acceptable for the gameplay. There is a guide, which is typical for beginners, first aid kit can be found in the safes. Our hero, Why hero? Because it saves children from enemies and this is our main task in the game. There are 2 types of games-arena and arcade. We can not only kill here, but also break objects and even walls over time, which makes it even more interesting.

Just bought this game and played it for about 20 minutes, for 1 person developer not bad at all. Very challenging, but it gives a skilled player a chance to feel worthy by playing the game. I like the dash and slow moe, and the feel of the game. It is definitely worth the 4 to 5 dollars if you like top down shooters. The game can only get better from us reviewers giving feedback. My feedback is fixing the menu, which I have no idea because i don’t make video games lol, but it’s not smooth navigating the 3 options, also maybe have a controls menu in the settings menu or ESC option. There is a Q icon next to health which makes me think heal and everytime I press q I throw the circle shooter grenade. I am not sure if there is a heal option but that would be dope, if not still solid makes it more challenging. But yah if anything just remove the Q at the side of the health. That’s all i got i think, definitely enjoyable, keep it up, I’ll play it more and give more ideas I may find.

Desert Pirates

Desert Pirates

Lead a post apocalyptic war convoy made out of badass cars driven by unusual characters. Travel across a dangerous and endless desert filled with resource seeking opponents.

In this experience inspired by movies like Mad Max and spaceship roguelikes, you can expand and improve your convoy, find new cars and swap out their weapons and tools, upgrade, repair and refuel them, feed drivers and give out orders to help everyone survive.

How far can you ride?

Features

  • Unlock and collect badass cars: Find cars to restore in every run, and store them in your garage for later use. The desert is filled with hidden surprises!

  • Make runs with different convoys: Change your Convoy to fit your playstyle! Choose between Soldiers with Nitro, Heavy Soldiers with special weapons, start with additional food or gas, special systems like Shields, Radars, Decoys and more!

  • Survive the desert: You will need to destroy enemy settlements in order to get the resources you need to repair and refuel your cars, and to keep your followers fed and hydrated.

  • Give orders to your Convoy: Stay together, or split up! Changing orders on the fly can give you an advantage against your enemies. Light RTS mechanics are gaining traction during development (stay tuned!).

  • Classic Roguelike Features: Permadeath, Upgrades, procedurally generated areas. Every playthrough is different.

Flamebreak

Flamebreak

Flamebreak is a deep and rewarding game. It blends elements of FTL and The Binding of Isaac in a unique and enjoyable way. I’m not typically someone who enjoys the rogue-like or super hardcore games - which is why I was surprised at how much I’ve enjoyed this game.

When I started off, I quickly died over and over (you only have one life per run). It took me a good 5-10 attempts to really begin making good progress in the game. Each enemy has a unique combat style that requires time to learn and understand. Traversing the “overworld” is a fairly complex task (even though it seems quite trivial at first). Yes - you have to make it to the boss before the “shadow” catches up to you - but there are a lot of hidden elements that aren’t as random as one might think (which I’ll refrain from spoiling in this review).

Real player with 96.1 hrs in game

Criminally underrated or maybe just underplayed/unheard of by many people, surprisingly deep and well thought out top-down ARPG with heavy rogue-lite elements like permadeth and procedurally generated levels.

The gameplay consists of 2 main parts, the “Overworld”, where you decide which room your character will go to next and then the actual fighting. What’s really nice about this is how well balanced and equally important these two parts are. Knowing where to go, what to spend your money on, what abilities to upgrade first and which of the 5 available gods you devote yourself to is equally as important as being able to land your abilities and dodge projectiles.
