Recon Control

Recon Control

Tactical Step-by-step shooter.  The main feature, which is the whole essence of the game, is 2D graphic - reminds me my childhood, those games, flashbacks))

So - here are big variety. Maps, missions (25 missions, 3 campaigns), tasks, developers did a really good job. Moreover, there are many types of guns, armor, equipment, different items. It is a very important point which I figure out while playing any game, coz when developers of each game don’t respect the player, their users: they create only 1-3 guns using which u have to spend all time passing the game - so it becomes rlly boring ;( But, in “Recon Control” it’s +REP ofc☆

This is great tactical gem.

Familiar gameplay of a tactical turn based combat with standard classes (sniper, heavy, shotgun, rifle), but everything is done just right. Visuals, variety, enemies, abilities, items - all is very good. Although the game is not long, this is a ton of fun as a more simple but very polished approach while you are waiting for a big title.

Mortal Glory

Mortal Glory

Mortal Glory is a fantastically fun little game where you manage a team of gladiators in a fantasy setting, competing to achieve the glory of victory and appease the Emperor and masses alike. The gameplay follows a simple but addicting structure:

  1. Hiring gladiators

  2. Equip/upgrade your team with items, skills, and training

  3. Go forth into glorious battle

  4. Encounter a random town event which may aid or debilitate you for the following match

Within this structure, the player focuses on economic/team management and battle strategy used in other turn-based tactics games. A lot of the fun comes from making decisions about who to hire and what to buy with your limited resources. Perhaps you focus on beefing up one gladiator that can take on multiple foes and then save money to hire stronger allies. Maybe you are able to buy a fantastic item that offsets a cheap gladiator’s weaknesses. Before entering the arena, you can also see the stats of the foe you’re about to face, so you can plan accordingly. As your team develops, you may have different members specialize into classic roles, (tank, mage, etc.) or create hybrids to deal with multiple situations.

Mortal Glory has meaningful tactics with a gentle learning curve. What it lacks is tedium. These fights go fast, and when you’re not caving in skulls, you’ve got a bit of light shopping to set yourself up for success. No deep intricacies here. Just kill and keep moving.

If you find Mortal Glory too easy, you can make use of its challenge toggles along with the additional Glory ranks (think Slay the Spire Ascension). Alternatively, there’s a Relaxed difficulty for an easier time, though I don’t know how easy that actually is. Tactical vets should have no trouble starting with Normal after a gander at the small tutorial.

Pendragon

Pendragon

_### Quick Overview

Imagine a game of chess where each of your pieces has its own little story and agenda. Each piece would also like to see its story to the end, but you, as the player, know that will not always be possible. Sacrifices have to be made. And stories will change and adapt because of them. Some will be cut short, some will be epic, but most of them will have to face tragedy sooner or later.

For those needing comparisons, think more Into the Breach than Banner Saga._

Pendragon has captured my attention in a way that very few games manage.

I describe this game as a chess-like narrative roguelike.

The roguelike aspect is straightforward, with each run following the same general structure : choose a hero and make your way to Camlann to aid King Arthur in the fight against the evil Mordred, dispatching enemies and recruiting allies along the way.

Mechanically, it is not a game of chess, but it is a very good analogy to get oneself into the mindset required to play Pendragon effectively - in order to be successful at the higher difficulties, one must be thoughtful in the moves they pick, their potential consequences, and how the enemies may react to them.

What a great little game! A little rough around the edges, but If you like the tactical experience of Battle Brothers, or XCom, it’s fantastic.

EARLY ACCESS REVIEW

I’d like to weigh in here:

The Good: A fun, slightly irreverent steampunk world in which you get to experience the exhilarating high of sometimes winning battles that you absolutely did not deserve to win; Good turn-based combat run side-on/side-off; Good weapon damage balance; Good on the unpredictability scale with combat and encounters–not SO unpredictable that every fight is a crap shoot, as that would be maddening and leveling and character boosting would just further frustrate if it made no difference (I think we’ve all played that game at least once or twice), but about 15%-20% unpredictable overall; Good graphics which just got better with the latest update; catchy go***mn fife music (with tambourine!) that gets stuck in your head. Decent character classes.

A game that I believe has a lot of potential. I really dislike people that buy/invest in an early release then give it a crap review without thinking ahead and just realise “early release” means something. To me it means that I can play test a game and give ideas to developers to help build a better game. I have supported a number of early releases and can happily say that some of my ideas have helped develop a game.

This one is no different. I like the idea of building your leaderships/company skills to enable a bigger and better team. Turn based combat means that you can plan although it is obvious that your Captain will be targeted quite readily. I would like to see a bit more mix and visual options for both your Captain as well as team members. Even a few variations for each one would help add a bit more variety and individualism to each team member. I know that crafting is on the way but something started soon would be good. Even a few basic items such as turn fur into fur gloves or such. Perhaps like training it could be linked to a small amount of exp for the team member who is crafting. Of course the crafted item should have a better sell price than the raw material.

Pangea

Pangea

Distant future. Research spaceship faces with unknown physical phenomenon in a faraway space.

The outcome is safe - the spaceship manages to overcome the anomaly without visible consequences. Though, on arriving to the Earth, the crew discovers it not the same way, as it should be. It seems, the anomaly represented a point of contact of several parallel layers of reality, where the events were happening a little bit differently. When the spaceship went out of the anomaly, it appeared in another layer of reality, not in the same when it got into the anomaly.

In that reality the Earth was not affected by a meteorite, which killed dinosaurus. Giant reptiles remained the dominant form of life, and mammals were poorly developed. As the result - the intelligent life and signs of civilization appeared much later, and by the current moment the society is on the level of Stone Age.

Primitive tribes and dinosaurs, magic and futuristic technologies are waiting for you.

In the “skirmish” mode you have to find and destroy the other players bases. In the campaign, you must complete the mission task.

For each victory, new unit types will be unlocked.

Pangea is a hybrid of turn-based strategy, tabletop game and roguelike. Heroes' moves across the playing field are determined by dice rolls. Turn-based tactical battles take place in a separate hex based arena.

  • Explore procedurally generated maps full of prizes and dangers

  • Enjoy colorful tabletop game styled graphics

  • Lead 4 unique factions with their own set of units and structures: a warlike primitive tribe, guardians of the forest thickets, terrible monsters and highly developed aliens from a parallel world

  • Influence the playing field - change the landscape, construct buildings and set traps

  • Unlock many bizarre creatures and lead them into battle

  • Uncover the secrets of the Pangea world in a story campaign

Overview

If anyone seeks out REXCurse for an opinion about a gang-themed game (especially a gang-themed game involving management) you know ol' Il Pallino is on the job. With no sort of backstory and a mostly casual experience, Gangster Empire: Vendetta doesn’t have anything in the way of a “vendetta” against anyone or anything. Instead, there’s just turn-based strategy gaming in which the player controls a gang with a maximum of eight people and looks to complete the game by either satisfying requirements for money or reputation. Crimes involve petty theft, violent assaults, hacking, drug dealing, long-term schemes (which can be either violent or non-violent), and good old fashioned legitimate businesses. Sometimes the player may be asked to assign gang members to complete various tasks for outside bosses who provide large amounts of money upon completion and an increase in reputation the player can either hoard in hopes of reaching their overall goal or spend on attacking a rival crime boss who occasionally schemes against the main character’s gang.

Gladiator Guild Manager

Gladiator Guild Manager

Gladiator Guild Manager is the best auto battler i have played. I have had lots of fun coming up with various strategies and team comp’s. Unlike other team manager games, it has a strong RPG element that isn’t there just for fluff. For instance, I have 2 Mana Assassins (Rogues), one that does a very high backstab, where the other one is a brawler with stealth. The various quirks your gladiator can have also spice up the selection, as well as the ability to equip various items that boost stats, or add effects.

Very fun auto-battler! Very addictive and has a good amount of variety. The randomness option with the building/units at the start and the option for permadeath makes the replay value high! I am look forward for more randomness with the quests and more buildings/units and an even greater replay value with the full release.

Give the game a chance! I found it, watched a youtube video of it, bought it, and played 8 hours of it all in the same day. It is very stable for an early access game with a lot of room for growth :)
