Hacker Simulator
The game is fine. There are a lot of features I was expecting that are simply missing. Tab completion in the terminal is missing. A place to sell accounts a “darknet” if you will. Finding bank accounts to steal money from. Currently the only way to make money is to do contracts.
These don’t pay much and feel grindy. You will quickly get bored because there is not enough variation in mission types. Making money takes a while most missions (in the first 10 hours at least) pay out 10 “shellcoins” which are bitcoins in the universe. The more “advanced” missions require you to compile a custom exploit which costs money (you can’t sell this exploit to the darknet). You need to buy 3 different files which will cost you ~12 shellcoins and you’ll end up making maybe 15 coins from the mission.

First, I like this game. It fun. BUT devs listen… it’s slow and grindy. I hear there are cool things in the late game. I want to get there, but right now, I’m bored.
Next, just an observation about most simulator games, this one included, what do I do with all this money? I beg of you, give me something to do with this money! Can I buy a new apartment? Decorate this one? Leave my house, like… ever? Go shopping? If there is nothing to do with the money, except make more money, then the game will quickly die in our libraries. Having money is only fun if you can spend it. Otherwise, it’s just pretty paper.

Operation Deep Magic: Cryptanalysis
Operation Deep Magic is a detail-oriented, decryption simulator for learning how to break codes. Very good trainer. It’s defintely much easier to follow along the concise steps in this simulator than to study articles and textbooks.
I like:
-
real code breaking experience and practices
-
automatic math explanations for my analytical work
-
puzzles that are super hard and also very easy
-
all puzzles are real-life communication, math, and computer problems
-
real, NSA-approved encryption that is adopted internationally

Let me start off by saying that this is probably one of the most deeply technical games on Steam. The cryptanalysis techniques utilized in this are actual, real-life techniques used in academic cryptography and spy alike.
How do I know this? I’m a cryptographer. :)
By playing this game and learning how these techniques work, you will gain an understanding of how these attacks are performed. If you’re not familiar with the basics of cryptography, this game is likely too difficult for you, but there’s no better time to start than right now,

Grey Hack
So as you can see from my hrs on record I am obsessed with this game. However that is not why I chose to write a review. I have wrote very few reviews on games. It’s just not really my deal. It takes a lot for me to write something either good or bad about it. And I had that “a lot” moment recently when I was interacting with another player in the game. I was talking to them about how much I enjoyed the game and have over 400 hours in to it. That’s when I realized I have almost 500 now…. in a game that’s still in alpha. The game doesn’t even have all the features yet and has many bugs. There’s a running contest in discord for who can find the most bugs. Normally that’s a bad thing for a game. But this game… the bugs are actually fun and in a weird way add to the game. Don’t get me wrong the developer is constantly pushing out updates and actively fixing those bugs and making the game better with each update. But the bugs are used in the game for hacking. Players adapt to the more stubborn bugs and you learn to protect yourself from them. You find others and use those to mess around. I wish I could explain better how and why this game has sucked me in but this game is one massive world where the players create so much of the content without realizing it, “500 hours in an alpha” kind of not realizing it. That was my “a lot” moment. I paid 10$ for 500 hours of game play. I have games in my library that I’ve paid far more for and have far fewer hours and they’re still worth it to me and those are finished! So as a thank you for the best 10$ I’ve ever spent here’s my Review Kuro I hope it helps drive more sales to ya.

Ever wanted to feel how it is to be a real hacker and face and overcome the difficulties that come with being one?
This game is probably the closest you can get without actually having any prior experience with the technicalities that are involved with gaining illegal access to a person’s computer.
What really sets this game apart from every other in this genre, is that while portrayal in most games is very ‘Hollywood-esque’, this game manages to keep it grounded and convincingly portrays the ‘real feel’ of being a hacker, and the difficulties that must be overcome. In-game computer actually feels genuine and intuitive to use, and unlike in many other games, gaining unauthorized access to a person’s computer is in itself a very rewarding process. It actually feels like the real deal (and the methods and concepts such as social engineering that exist in the game are all real).

Counter Terrorist Agency
This is my revised and final review now that I’ve had a fair bit more time with it.
CTA is a game I’ve wanted for a long time, which is why it comes as such a disappointment that so little thought was put into its design. I love the idea of tracking terrorist groups, deciding how and when to strike, collecting intelligence, and ultimately trying to prevent attacks. Unfortunately, it’s let down by shallow and often unclear mechanics. The devs were active in the beginning, responding to criticism and quickly putting out an update that greatly increased the quantity of scenarios in the game, and more have been added since. However, they seem to have been silent for just over a month now, and the Steam forums have been completely dead for over a week. They claim to be working on a pair of updates that would add a sort of “free mode”, as well as a much-requested re-work of the case file system. Unfortunately, I’m not convinced these will be enough to solve the fundamental problems this game suffers from.

Overview
Counter Terrorist Agency is what the old game Covert Action would have been if the player were in a higher-up position, not every troublemaker had a name of a Spanish or Arabic origin, and relations and resources of nations were an issue. Things usually start out with suspicious behavior making the news, threats made to reporters, or just an intercepted phone call in which two people may say something suspicious, and from there, the player orders agents to go to work by having a suspect’s phone tapped and their social media accounts hacked, then waiting for more conversations in which the suspect’s role within an organization can be verified depending on the contents of the conversation. (The player may be able to guess at the role of the person they’re speaking to if that person infers they have any authority over the person the player tapped/hacked.) Once enough suspects have been identified, it’s time to stop the terrorists from acting by either arresting or killing (preferably) confirmed members. Arrested terrorists can possibly be interrogated revealing more people involved in their plot. (Interrogation can possibly even reveal a leader’s identity.)

Sophie’s Safecracking Simulator
Once I saw who was developing this game, I knew it would be a insta-buy on day one of release.
For a very cheap price, you get a very detailed simulator that shows you how the locking mechanisms for most modern safes work, then teaches you how to break them. I highly recommend it for all of those who are interested in locksports and/or detailed simulator games.
Now if only someone out there could make a lockpicking game with the same attention to detail that this developer has put into this simulator, that would be a day one buy from me!
– Real player with 10.4 hrs in game
As a lock picking hobbyist I figured why not, and gave this sim a shot. I wasn’t disappointed. The techniques used, the way the safe is manipulated, and the explanations given in the tutorial all translate well to what you could expect on a real safe. Not to mention for the price point, this game is well worth it for those like me that enjoy lock manipulation, or those that even just enjoy trying to solve a challenge.

Deva|The Haunted Game
What’s better than one shit game for 20$? 4 shit games for 20$! But let’s dig a little deeper and of course spoilers ahead.
First of all the dev advertises this game as a second person view of a horror game and as a “New kind of fear!” but I don’t fully believe the dev understands what second person is. When you play a game you usually have 1st and 3rd viewpoints where you either play as the character in 1st person or you play as someone who is viewing the character (Usually over their shoulder) in 3rd person view. A 2nd person game would be a game where the game is narrated to you and instead of playing a game you would be setting up situations where the game would then tell you the player what happens. Think of a choose your own adventure book or, better yet, an instruction manual where the writer is telling you what happens and what you need to do. A more confusing way to explain it would be saying you are viewing your character from someone else’s 1st person perspective. Anyways I digress, this is just a 3rd person game so let’s continue.
