AegisM

AegisM

As a fully integrated three dimensional game, AegisM makes other tower-defense games look like crossword puzzles. It has changed the genre completely. Play as a character who moves around, places towers, utilizes abilities, and shoots weapons in an effort to survive as long as possible. The enemy mobs are challenging and diverse. Each map requires a different strategy. The builds and possibilities are endless. Don’t be afraid to experiment :) I have enjoyed every one of the 160+ hours I have played this game. Highly recommend!!!!

Been playing this gem during development in early-access with non stop enjoyment.

If you love Tower Defence then you’ll for sure get lost in this game.

The game offers a unique style to tower defence including competitive leader boards (which makes me enjoy it the most)

fun challenges, unlockables and CO-OP gameplay which allows you to rule the leadersboards with your friends if you have good synergy and teamwork or simply just prove who’s the better player in PvP or beating them in leader boards.

Did you like Pirates? Do you like turn-based combat? Do you like random maps and exploring?

Then this game could be something for you. For an early access Indie title, it’s got surprisingly good graphics (especially the sea), a real story in single player mode, and some funny mystic creatures. There’s a touch of Age of Wonders, but the battles are less tactical.

POSITIVE

  • good graphics

  • mystic creatures pimp the pirates scenario

  • nice story (no Heavy Rain, though)

  • high replay value (random quests, random maps, hotseat mode)

Looks amazing, nice atmosphere and unique interesting game mechanics. I like it!

You know where the journey is heading. With some little improvements in EA and more content I will be able to put hours in this :)!

Good strategy will lead you to your victory and will demolish your friends, but don’t forget about the immersive story though. Good price for a good game! Go on like this.

Planetary Annihilation: TITANS

It’s about time I sat down and gave this wonderful game a review.

In Short

PA is a game about big stuff. Massive armies. Massive titans. Massive possibility. No matter how you intend to play the game – casually, competitively, or even just striking it out on your own – you will find many hours of enjoyment not only wielding planet-smashing power, but also finding yourself improve over time as you learn the ins and outs of this humongous RTS. Just buy it already!

TLDR; great game, large scale, has nukes, can blow up planets, but can be fustratingly slow in the late game. The game is totally worth your money if it costs less than 5 dollars.

Update (1/27/19): The devs just announced that their servers have been optimized for more performance. I haven’t tested it out yet but it sounds very promising.

Ignoring the questionable decisions that the developers have made about the game, in terms of funness (you can say whatever you want, but the word is real to me), PA: Titans is one of the best RTS games that I have played. Unlike many other RTS games, the game runs on a flow economy, so rather than paying upfront the complete cost of a unit, your resources slowly drain as your unit becomes built, which leads to interesting tactics, like destroying most of the power generators of your opponent if you spot them building game enders, effectively pausing their production.

I think this game is simple, easy and interesting.

However, I have decided the name appropriately, so I want to change it. Let me know if the developer knows.

Thank you.

Tactical Galactical

Tactical Galactical

To conquer the atrocious, brain-devouring creatures that dwell in the far reaches of outer space…you will need tactical prowess of galactical proportions!

Choose between three different commanders and battle for control of a planet in furious multiplayer battles…or follow the commanders in a wacky romp in a carefully crafted single player mode! Each commander has a their own unique card deck, with abilities that utilize the battlefields in different ways.

The battlefield is always changing in this real-time strategy game, so unit positioning is key. The hex grid maps allow a precise level of control over how your troops move and attack, expertly fusing a classical tactical battle game with quick, fast-paced card game mechanics.

Tactical Galactical boasts three unique commanders that you may control to devastate and pulverize your foes!

First, we have Delores the Invincible! A skilled, spirited leader who never gives up and always stays positive. Delores specializes in defending her units and keeping them in tip top shape.

Next, we have Zubair the Cunning! This dastardly free agent uses his greed to propel him to riches! His unbridled ambition allows him to specialize in gaining intel on the battlefield and acquiring resources faster than anyone else.

Finally, we have Mikhail the Vigorous! As a young prince from an alien race, Mikhail specializes in ambushing the opponent and stunning them with brute force. Despite how he may seem, he’s actually full of cuddles!

Tactical Galactical contains a generous handful of units to use in your army, including infantry, vehicular, and air units. All units move along the hex grid, each with different strengths, weaknesses, attack ranges and abilities. As the game proceeds in real time, you and your opponents will be constantly racing to see who can outsmart who first. Can you break through your opponent’s defenses before they break through yours? Can you solve the complicated puzzle of each new terrain makeup before they figure out a killer strategy? Get ready to flex that analytical brain!

While galactical warfare breaks out across the planet, your deployment ship will remain stationed in the sky above, firing new units down in drop pods and providing visibility to the tiles beneath. The fun part is that aside from your units, you can control your ship as well, moving it where necessary to deploy units exactly where you want them. But be careful - it takes time for drop pods to open up, and they’re vulnerable to enemy fire. You need to protect your reinforcements!

Want to become the strongest in the galaxy? Jump into cross-platform multiplayer mode and crush all your friends in 1v1 or 2v2 matches! Multiplayer is the real meat of the game - and where we spent the most time during development, so this is where you can really put your skills to the test after learning the ropes in the single player campaign!

Before you jump into the challenging realms of multiplayer, we’ve also created a unique single player campaign with multiple missions spread across different planets! Complete with wacky animated scenes just like a real Saturday morning cartoon, this mode will entertain you and teach you how to efficiently play as each different character. The AI will also pose a decent challenge, preparing you for your battles against human opponents!

Dustwind

Dustwind

Let’s start by saying that I really wanted to love this game. I was swayed by nostalgia over Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel but was ultimately confronted with the realization that Dustwind still needs a lot of polish to compete with modern games.

The AI, in general, isn’t anything special which in some cases takes away any bit of immersion you might wanted to experience. Enemies screaming HELP due to low health, but insist on running towards you, or staying completely stationary while being shot at with sniper fire.

I cannot give a positive review of this game. I tryied… but this is getting worse everytime i play on it. I really wanted to love this game.

  • DEAD This game is dead, in all ways. No one plays PvP, no ones play PvE. If you have friends to play with… give it a try but do not expect playing solo.

  • DIFFICULTY The difficulty of this game will make you nuts.. it is hardcore on every map unless you know exact positions of every enemies. It is a TRY HARD game until you finish successfully a mission.

EMERGENCY 20

EMERGENCY 20

I don’t understand why there is so much hate for this game. This game consists of 10 remastered missions, multiplayer, freeplay and the campaigns from Emergency 5, 2016 and 2017. I thoroughly enjoy this game so I will give an honest and truthful opinion of the game to assure you make the right purchase.

Pros:

Campaigns from Emergency 5, 2016 and 2017

Remastered missions from older emergency games

Lots of micro-managing for a fun fast-paced game

Freeplay (4 maps)

Multiplayer (I haven’t tried it yet)

Edit: I bought this game again after getting a refund because I found: Bieberfelde - Next Generation. The mod completely changes the game and for me makes it worth while owning this game.

My review of the base game:

I got this after playing emergency 4 for quite some time with the LA Mod. While graphics are much much better and there is a little less micromanagement with some automation overall I feel it’s lacking something. If you liked the base game of EM4 then you might like this. But if you are used to the detail and control that the LA Mod provides then this game will probably feel a bit feature light.

Epitaph

Epitaph

I recommend it to some players BUT it’s a very specific group of players.

I gotta start by saying the art design is great. Incredibly eye-catching with all the colors and angles. Premium style!

Anyway, Epitaph’s gameplay is kinda like the line battle system in Darkest Dungeon. And they really leaned into the mechanic. For example, one of the reapers can headbutt an enemy to knock it into a different spot. Another example, one of the characters can attack in front of or behind them. You’re stuck in the 2D but there’s still a lot of movement and options. Even with 13 characters, they’re all simple to learn. Epitaph has a low skill floor but a high skill ceiling.

Bionite: Origins

Bionite: Origins

At its current state I can’t recommend. I’ve re-downloaded when new updates were made, but sadly the game does not feel like BZ. The controls are too sophisticated (couldn’t implement the original’s?), unit AI needs a huge improvement, and many bugs just build on top of it all. Seriously though, commanding your constructor to build a guntower shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes. Bad pathfinding and controls plague a game where basic game mechanics should be a priority. Besides, 6+ years and it’s still in early access? Sorry, but donating to them was a mistake.

Real player with 2.0 hrs in game

As others have said, this game unfortunately seems to have grinded to a halt since 2018? Developers obviously lost interest. It’s a buggy mess that is COMPLETELY unplayable at this stage; controls are wacky and nothing seems to work correctly. Don’t buy it.

I think everyone was hoping something great would come of this spiritual successor… it’s a shame. Oh well, Battlezone 98 Redux and Battlezone: Combat Commander are on Steam now at least.

EDIT in response to developer:

I fully understand that game development is very difficult, especially when starting out or with only a small team, and as such, many projects take years to develop.
