Dark Dragonkin

Dark Dragonkin

Dark Dragonkin is a RPG adventure in which the player alternates control a party of characters, guiding each of them one at a time (though control may be swapped from character to character at any point) to the portal to exit the level. Every level is designed such that each party member must contribute unique skills to help the party through to the portal. All three characters must reach the exit portal to complete the level. Each party member has hit points which they can lose by getting hurt by enemies or obstacles in the dungeon. Should any party member run out of hit points, they die; game-play will then continue with any remaining members, if the member can not be resurrected, the level will have to be restarted and try again. However, the game offers unlimited continues.

Each party member offers a unique set of skills:

  • Rose: The tank of the party. By far the most durable. She has more health and takes less damage than the others. When using her shield she becomes nearly invincible. When charging forward she can stun enemies and move heavy objects.

  • Dante: He is melee DPS. He can dispatch most enemies when he can attack from behind. Stealth is his ally. He also specializes in jumping great distances to avoid obstacles and get in the right position for the kill.

  • Nova: He is a ranged caster. He can dispatch many foes with a fireball at range. He also can dispel magical wards as they descend into the depths of the dungeon.

  • Evelina: No party is complete without a healer. If a party member falls to the dangers of the dungeon, no worries, because Evelina can bring them back. She can also changes into a fairy to sneak through all the tiny cracks in the dungeon.

Features

  • You control each character separately.

  • Each character has their own unique skills to get past obstacles.

  • Every Level is like an old school RPG puzzle.

  • Even the enemies are puzzles of how to avoid or destroy them.

  • You must figure out how to gather the party at the exit portal to advance.

  • Powerful bosses that are a challenging puzzle to defeat to gain passage through their realm.

I’ll skip the stuff about it beeing 8 player coop and sooo on and start talking about the stuff that might not be mentioned as often in short reviews:

The game offers multiple difficulties.. however the base difficulty is intended to be rather challenging for Players.

Which is definitly a good thing since it’s all about improving your own skill and after many defeats rewarding yourself with your very first win… somewhat darksouls-esque..

Classes:

So far there’s a total of 8 classes and depending on what the player wishes to accomplish every class has one or more distinctive roles.(Tank, Healer, DmgDealer,Scout….)

I played this game when it first came out and I immediately fell in love with it.

It’s a slick tactical shooter. With hordes of alien zombies trying to kill you. Meanwhile your team of husky voiced men attempt to complete your objectives.

Again it’s a great game. I stopped playing it for some time and decided to get back into it and immediately fell back in love.

Great set of classes

Assault-great all rounder very good beginner class. he’s great with light weapons and rifles and he even smokes a cigar. Do you want to live forever?

Tower of Time

Tower of Time is a squad-based dungeon crawler with predetermined character types whose attributes and skills can be leveled up occasionally and who fight in battles that require strategic and tactical thinking.

TL;DR

Though I felt the game got off to a slow and perhaps not so interesting start, after aquiring a few companions and getting down to level 5 it grabbed my interest and continued doing so as I progressed. I ended up enjoying the game quite a bit. This is one of those games that you need to get into a ways before you really start grooving on it. The fact that I bothered to write such a long review shows how much I liked this game, even with some stuff that bugged me.

In short:

AMAZING 50+ hours RPG with gorgeous graphics, an enticing story, tactical battles, balanced gameplay and original mechanics!

Summary

  • Very smooth gameplay, with gorgeous graphics and scenery and non-claustrophobic dungeons

  • Unintrusive interface, with sophisticated RPG mechanics

  • Original take on RPG mechanics, specially regarding the battles

  • The battles feel very tactical, due to the slow time feature. It is not turn-based, but it feels like XCOM, and has a lot of variation like diverse objectives and scenarios.

TRIBAL

TRIBAL

TRIBAL is a Persistent Online Multiplayer Real Time 2D Strategy game where you take the role of Tribe Chieftain and lead your medieval tribe to global domination… or not. Chieftains are very busy, but the fight for survival and conquest go on with or without you. Prepare your Tribe for greatness even when you must be away on important business. With 8 different player avatars, 100 unique NPC units, 60 spells, 75 different structures, 12 boss encounters, and various inventions and upgrades you are sure to find a retreat whether playing alone, with friends, or against the global community of tribes on public and semi-public servers. Build your Tribe. Conquer, be conquered. Repeat.

What do you mean persistent?

TRIBAL never sleeps, even when you do. Your tribe will continue to work around the clock until you return. It is up to you to ensure they have marching orders while you are away. But peace and happiness are fleeting. There are Dark Lords and other players that might have their own motivations to achieve greatness.

Do you have to play online?

TRIBAL is an online game. It requires an instance of the TRIBAL server and the TRIBAL client. You are free to run your own local network server or a private server to play alone or with family and friends. Setup is easy and there are no additional costs or requirements for standing up your own server to play. Optionally, you can log into one of the community servers and play with other tribes all over the world.

Isn’t it boring to play alone?

TRIBAL is more fun with other people, but even if you decide to journey alone on a private server the Dark Lords will always be working together to overthrow your tribe. The Dark Lords are always waiting. They will continue building, spawning, and progressing as long as you keep a server running. Of course, you can always shut down the server – even Dark Lords sleep when the universe shuts down.

Is it an RPG or an RTS?

TRIBAL is an RTS, but also has various elements from the role-playing genre. TRIBAL is a real-time strategy game where you and your tribe earn experience and resources by developing land, creating new tribe members, and fighting off the Dark Lords and other tribes. Tribe members can teach each other new things or earn them by defeating the bosses at the 12 Gates or conquering other tribes. The higher the level of each tribe member – the more powerful they become.

If TRIBAL never sleeps, how do new players on public servers stand a chance?

Every player has a home base… although space is limited new players can build up a tribe without the threat of attack. If you or your tribe is at their home base you are safe. Once you are ready – you can venture out into the global village. Once you are away from home, you are vulnerable to attack. If you are defeated, you will be returned to your home base and retain your experience, spells, blueprints, and inventions… but all of your tribe members and improvements will parish. Time to rebuild your tribe!

Is it Micro or Macro?

TRIBAL offers a variety of ways to manage your empire including Micromanagement, Macromanagement, and Hands-free. You can micromanage every tribe member if you chose giving each one specific orders and duties. As you spawn new minions, they will also perform some duties by default according to their role allowing you to focus on more immediate objectives. Finally, each unit can also be set for automation. When automated, units will be controlled by the AI system and carry out their duties according to a set of priorities to ensure their development and growth.

So what’s the goal?

Build your tribe. Conquer new lands. Enlighten your people. Get rich. Rejoice. Rule the world with an iron fist or gentle hand. Rush, turtle, explore, idle… the choice is yours. Defeat the bosses at the 12 Gates to gain access to new maps and higher levels. Help other tribes or crush them. Play alone or with the masses. But ultimately the goal is simple, survive and prosper.

Cyber Ops

Cyber Ops

This game is great and I’m kinda sad it got so many bad reviews. It’s challenging but honestly it’s not nearly as hard as people make it out to be. Once you figure out the mechanics it’s challenging but perfectly feasible after a couple of tries. It had some bugs at launch but they have all been fixed already.

Great atmosphere, good voice acting, nice looking interface and very singular gameplay. Being the guardian angel hacker behind a screen while the operators actually do the work might not be for everyone but I personally love it.

Every negative review is sadly 100 % correct. Only 25 % ever made 1st mission. Only 0,3 % players ever finished the game and 1 % just hacked the “game finished " achievement, because more players finished game than finished last mission. You will be fighting the logic breaking UI problems more than “triangle” enemies. All moving enemies are called “turrets” when killed. You don’t know at this moment if cyborg or human enemy type died.

You will NOT be able to win after level 5 without good oldschool health cheats. The game is so buggy that some mechanics needed for victory don’t works sometimes. I won spider-tank level 6 fight legit first, but squad just glitched at the door when leving the cathedral. QTE skillchecks are also broken or start at unwinnable state.

Dwerve: Prologue

Dwerve: Prologue

This review is further detailed in the video below.

Dwerve is an incredibly charming game that is simple to pick up but requires strategy and dedication to succeed in! As a huge fan of Tower Defense games and the NES style classics, this game is a match made in heaven that resolves the shortcomings of both genres. I am super excited for the full game and can’t wait to cover it again when it releases!

✔️PROS

✔️Tower defense done right! Exploration, dodging enemy attacks, replacing towers and manually attacking keeps the game from getting stale like your typical tower defense games.

I Kickstarted this game based on the first 5 minutes or so of the demo. It seemed super fun and like an innovative mix on the Tower Defense genre. Now that I’m playing the prologue for a bit longer, that impression hasn’t changed. The game oozes style, and has a challenging but fun format.

So far I’m very pleased, but the two things I did notice were 1; the walking speed is SUPER slow. This seems to be on purpose for mechanics, but wow it feels like I’m taking forever to get from point A to B. I assume the levels are smaller based purely on that for the sake of getting around, but I hope there’s a way to increase that speed more than a very slow recharging dash. 2; destructible items aren’t very easy to tell apart from non-destructible things. I found myself just stopping quite a bit to see if anything was destructible nearby.

Backstory & Lore

In the massive hollow mountain of Mount Crowcrest, there once lived a great nation of dwarves. The dwarves discovered power stones while mining deep in the mountain. They used them to power machines and, eventually, entire cities. They lived in peace and prosperity for centuries.

Over time they became infatuated with power stones and dug deeper to find more. One day they dug too deep and unleashed the Gloomdark Hordes, an army of trolls and monstrous creatures. Once the dwarves realized that trolls turned to stone in the sunlight, they fled far from the mountain and found refuge on the sunny Hills of Brekka.

Centuries passed and, over time, the dwarves forgot their traditions and abandoned craftsmanship and innovation in favor of warring and raiding. History became myth, and myth became bedtime stories. But whispers of a long forgotten darkness echo throughout the valley of the great mountain. It can be heard in the Snoring Forest, by those who dare to enter…
