Battlecruisers

Battlecruisers

Battlecruisers is a very finely polished and fun RTS (of sorts). The game revolves around two battlecruisers (surprise surprise), who are, for various reasons, hellbent on killing each other. The goal of the game: don’t get sunk. Both cruisers will start completely unarmed, and you will start out by constructing builder bays, which give you access to better structures and faster build speeds. Over time, you will build various different structures and weapons to defend your cruiser, while keeping the enemy cruiser under pressure. There’s a lot of weapons at your disposal: bombers, destroyers, kamikazes, rockets, lasers, satellites, and even nukes are at your disposal.

Information / Review English

Battlecruisers is a Tactical / Strategy game which was developed by Mecha Weka.

Story / Gameplay

The battle cruiser was a kind of capital ship of the first half of the 20th century. They resembled battleships in displacement, armament, and cost, but differed slightly in shape and balance of attributes. Battlecruisers typically had thinner armor and a slightly lighter main cannon battery than modern battleships, which were installed on a longer hull with much higher engine power to achieve higher speeds. The first battlecruisers were developed in the UK as an evolution of the armored cruiser, while the dreadnought replaced the battleship before the dreadnought. The aim of the design was to overtake any ship with similar armament and hunt any ship with lesser armament; You should hunt down the slower, older armored cruisers and destroy them with heavy gunfire while avoiding combat with the more powerful but slower battleships. However, as more and more battlecruisers were built, they were increasingly used alongside the better-protected battleships.

I recommend it to some players BUT it’s a very specific group of players.

I gotta start by saying the art design is great. Incredibly eye-catching with all the colors and angles. Premium style!

Anyway, Epitaph’s gameplay is kinda like the line battle system in Darkest Dungeon. And they really leaned into the mechanic. For example, one of the reapers can headbutt an enemy to knock it into a different spot. Another example, one of the characters can attack in front of or behind them. You’re stuck in the 2D but there’s still a lot of movement and options. Even with 13 characters, they’re all simple to learn. Epitaph has a low skill floor but a high skill ceiling.

Defence Your Organism

Defence Your Organism

A top little Tower Defense game - the best 90 cents I have spent for a long time!!

There are 6 levels. Lacks a lot of bells and whistles (including you can’t prioritise targets), but I am having fun trying to beat my high scores (also wish the game would record best level scores).

Placement and tower selection is important. The levels finish at level 30.

Notwithstanding, I have already got my monies worth. I would be interested to see this game develop further and would be happy to pay more for much extended version 2 with those " bells and whistles.

I saw this game being played by a popular youtuber, so I gave it a try. The campaign was short and sweet tutorial. The races seem simple, yet fun to play. I cannot give this game a perfect review because I feel that the build was poorly optimized. Every time I play my game skips and drops frames, making micro intensive battles impossible. Great for casual play. Towers + Siege = Overpowered. 4/5

I wasn’t sure whether or not to give this a negative or positive review. Overall its a great game with a great concept, however, the units never seem to get the idea of an order. Sometimes when initiating an instruction for a unit, it doesn’t respond. When your unit is attacking a building and an enemy unit attacks it, the unit stops attacking the building and chases the unit that attacked it! It really is frustrating when you have to constantly tell the unit to go back to doing something you want them to do and not get kited by towers and rangers. This is most likely a bug, but its a very major and annoying bug. A game that could’ve lasted 5 minutes turns into a 20 minute game because of this. It really is annoying.

So fun! If you like games like Risk or Chess you will love this game. But instead of turns its all in real time just really slow, like make your move to set up what you want your ships to do, then come back and check it hours later when they are there. Or you can set your ships to loop, so they pick up and drop off troops where you want them FOREVER. I just started playing and entered like 15 games at once and I spend all day playing it without having to wait haha. Addicting, fast and great learning curve, and good replay value (harder for me to claim this latter one as I’ve only put in 40 hrs so far, just seems like a game I will always come back to).

The only negative reviews about this game are people who are mad because there are no tutorials and don’t know how to play. I mean… I was in the same boat but I had no problem learning, it is actually really easy to learn and only took a couple minutes, so I’m not sure what the problem really is. There is a wiki tab right in the game to help learn and beginner games.

I like it because it doesn’t need my full attention. I can play another game and have this up on my other monitor. Only have to play a few minutes each day and you can have multiple games going at once.

The Last Hope: Zombie Defense TD

The Last Hope: Zombie Defense TD

A very competent Tower Defense title.

Does not bring anything new to the genre but what it does, it does fairly well. Good upgrade trees for towers and abilities and not too easy - you will have to think. Something different - from the fifth level the game will throw decoy units (crows) at you, so you will have to be careful about over use of archers and mages.

Not really a fan of the endless mode as it can go on too long (at least for me). I gave up at 175 waves. Maybe this aspect needs to be more difficult.

ARC Alien Raid Combat

ARC Alien Raid Combat

Would be okay as a free game. It’s incredibly short and incredibly easy. You can beat every level just by filling the field with the first available tower and upgrading them. There’s like 6 levels and not much variation between them. I can’t recommend buying this game, even as a free game, just get the Ninja Kiwi Launcher and play Bloons TD for free.

Decent, cheap Tower Defense title with unannoying music (a plus in my book) and reasonable graphics.

Nothing new, but you will have to think.
