Verdun

Verdun

As game; which is built to give you fun; this game is quite hard to get into intianlly due to its ww1 and you can get shredded by the other side with mg13 spray the drops you body with weight of enough lead you now have scrap value to buy a new watch. But as simulator of WW1 warfare, probably it is the best you can get.its Extremely historically accurate, But this certainly is NOT battlefield 1 clone.

The maps are basically a mix of trenches and vegetation; there are no props, no embellishment; it is purely a wasteland with corpses, burned vegetation and relics of horses and tanks. In the middle of all of this; you and your team advancing toward objectives with no easy way to distinguish who is who.

Was almost dead for a while but it’s back to glory now. A lot of stuff got reworked, mechanics work more smoothly, and it’s just too much bloody fun. Get back in the trenches, cowards!

Blue Max: Aces of the Great War

Blue Max: Aces of the Great War

Forget glory, friend. Think survival.

The “Pour le Merite” or Blue Max fighter pilots were something to be both admired and feared. An award given to the best German pilots of World War I, if you ended up in the sights of a Blue Max plane, you knew your flying days were over.

Originally released in 1991 by Artech Digital Entertainment, Blue Max: Aces of the Great War is a classic flight simulator that takes you right into the fray as a World War I flying ace. Choose from 8 different planes, such as Fokkers, Sopwiths, Spads to take down enemy planes or capture surveillance behind enemy lines. Step into the cockpit in Blue Max: Aces of the Great War, and experience the strategy and thrills of the best fighter pilots of their time.

  • Take your dogfights to a 2D tactical map, executing turn based strategies against your opponents with an unique 3D simulation to visualize your best plan of attack

In brief - A brilliant WW1 diorama-styled tower defence game with weapon ballistics instead of DPS calculators, unpredictable AI pathing, destructible environments and the ability for the player to control turrets or vehicles.

If you only played the WW1 content in “Toy Soldiers Complete” you should know that ported content was a buggy mess and was NOT faithful to the original Toy Soldiers. If you’re on the fence about paying full price for this remake, the original game is cheaper and still well worth playing!

Best battlefield game up to date. Immersion is top of the roof with some decent campaigns.

If you want to play multiplayer, make sure you dont use “quick match” and try server browser instead. In there, don’t use official DICE servers as they’re often filled with hackers. Try out community servers where admins are active and players are good and u get close, fun games.

I’ve only played in VR with a HOTAS. Beyond the fact that it’s wildly overpriced, this game needs a serious overhaul by someone who understands UX.

The menus are amateurish and bewildering, particularly in the campaign mode. There’s no way to recenter your view. It seems to be impossible to start a campaign game in VR, because you have to type in a name for your squadron, and it won’t accept keyboard input as typing. When I hit the F key I get some performance numbers. I had to restart in desktop mode, create the campaign, and then restart again in VR mode to play it.

this game does not fell finished to me. at this time in VR you have hand tracking but can not interact with anything just ghost hands. that sucks would have loved to fly the planes with my VR hands. but im so far happy with what i got. the joysticks on the VR controls work. game brings me back to playing red baron long long ago. for that feeling i like the game. and for that i will give it a thumbs up. if you go into this expecting a full VR exp you will be a little upset. but the controls work the game plays and is fun. maybe wait for a sale if you are unsure.

Isonzo

Isonzo

World War One has arrived in the mountains of the Italian Front - beautiful but deadly in equal measure. Inspired by the two year struggle for control of the Isonzo river valley and Alps during World War One, Isonzo elevates the WW1 Games Series, figuratively and literally.

The new Offensive game mode puts you right in the middle of key historical offensives on the Italian Front - lead the charge across stunning Italian landscapes on the attack, or prepare your defense on dynamic battlefields.

Everything is recreated based on research and field trips, from the uniforms to the huge arsenal of weapons. Blow your enemies away at range with mortars, artillery and air support, or finish the job at close quarters with a bayonet. Watch out for the dreaded poison gas…

You’ve never experienced WW1 action quite like this!

Isonzo is scheduled for release in Early 2022.

Isonzo key features include:

  • Mountain warfare: assaulting mountain fortifications, battling through ruined towns, and fording rivers are just a few of the challenges you’ll face as you fight your way through numerous enemy positions

  • Tactical multiplayer FPS: choose your role and loadout carefully to survive this high altitude combat - play a sniper to pick off the enemy engineers before they can cut your wire, use rifle grenades to clear enemy machine guns, and much more

  • World War One gameplay: new historical Offensive game mode focused on the tactical challenges of Alpine warfare, including WW1 weaponry, poisonous gas attacks, and intense artillery barrages

  • Authentic WW1 atmosphere: accuracy in everything from maps and weaponry to music and the uniforms you choose from – fight for the Kingdom of Italy or the Austro-Hungarian Dual Monarchy

    More coming soon!

We’re only scratching the surface of what’s new in Isonzo - there’s more yet to be revealed, including details on the new features and beautiful Italian battlefields are on the way: wishlist now and follow our Steam hub to get the latest updates!

    Authentic WW1 Game Series

The WW1 Game Series currently includes Tannenberg and Verdun (set on the Eastern and Western Fronts). These authentic WW1 shooters let players choose from a range of squads from across the war, as they fight for control of the ever-changing frontlines.

Iron Harvest

Iron Harvest

Reminds me a lot of Company of Heros except not as many unit options or customizable skills.

Real player with 61.7 hrs in game

I would recommend Iron Harvest. the campaign is good for an RTS (not starcraft 2 level of story) but compared with more recent RTS' it’s up there and not just a tutorial for multiplayer. gameplay is similar to the Company of Heroes if you like that style, there are four factions (1 dlc faction) to play as, with the mechs I think being a game highlight with unique designs, styles and gameplay for their factions. voice work is good with an option for a ‘native’ language rather than overriding polish, russian and german characters under one language.
